Fuck it. Iāll worry about the router later. Iāve backed out that upgrade, and just left the server upgrade in place. Itās all working again.
Note that all bans are temporarily lifted since thatās how the server upgrade process works. Iāll reban evil people as needed, so if youāre back on and happy about it: donāt be evil and youāre good.
Is there a tutorial for this thing? I have no idea how to use it and so far the only thing Iāve learned is ā60 sec timeout before next same search !ā
What questions do you have? It should be relatively straight-forwardā¦
- When searching, uncheck āOnly show if slots availableā (or however it reads on your system) so you get full results.
- If you want to see someoneās list, right-click on their name and choose āGet File Listā
- You want to be using Active mode, if you can get your firewall/router/connection to support that. Passive mode will block you from connecting to over half the users, typically.
LinkSys routers suck. Not installing local configuration software and requiring you to hard-reset the router to admin it (since the stupid install program assumes the default password AND you canāt navigate to the router admin page without network connectivity which you would only have if the router had connectivity OW brain hurts OW stupid stupid LinkSys) SUCKS. Iāll be returning mine. Expect a half hour of downtime later on this week as I again try to get wireless networking working in my house again. :xeye:
I got most of that figured out by now. However the whole passive mode/router thing is still bugging me.
PLEASE NOTE: The older DC++ clients have a security hole. Please update to 0.674 for the security fix. Iāll bug anybody I see on the hub with older clients to updateā¦ but update when you can, please.
So when I went on there was only one person onā¦me and a mod bot and another guy.

I have been on for a while. I will log back on soon I have probably around 100 gig of vids I just need to organzie that crap 
Mickey: If thereās less than ten people, either the hub just restarted (doubtful) or you are using DC 2.20 - the normal DC client gets buggy and canāt see everyone. Use DC++ and you should be able to see everybody.

I do not ban anyone arbitrarilyā¦ check your share for serials, cracks, or keys. In some rare cases Iāll ban for sharing movies/commercial music if they arenāt sharing anything else, but usually I just kick those people.

Iāve now turned on enforcement of minimum DC++ version. Any version older than .674 has a bad security hole, so get the current version. Iāve also hard-blocked DCGUI clients, but nobody we know uses that anyways so nobody cares.
Iāll probably start adding some more scripts as we go along, just to clean up hub clutter and whatnot.
