Who cares about dumb shit like that? This guide is really good. Its got frame data and even goes in depth with kara canceling and shit.
Done.
I was sceptical about buying this guide but after reading this thread I had to buy it.And to my surprise it is very good, very detailed. This guide hes all the greatness of SRK.COM with out all the 100 bullshit posts every time some one asks a question or you do a forum search on what ever topic.
I am definatley going to get this thing laminated so I can keep this book looking good. Thanks to every one who put this together.
Apparently you don’t care, but I happen to find technique names to be an interesting aspect of Japanese-produced fighting games. And if this is anything to go by:
there’s at least one other person here who cares. So, to answer your question, I know of at least 2 people who care about “dumb shit like that.” It’s possible there might be a few more among the folks who’ve kept this thread:
http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/showthread.php?t=173
going for over 200 pages.
I never said (nor did I mean to imply) that the guide wasn’t “really good.” Certainly, I’ve learned at least a few new things (and been reminded of some I’d forgotten) in the course of flipping through the book. From the sound of the other comments in this thread, there’s a lot of good gameplay info to be had within Brady’s latest effort. All I did was to answer another poster’s question and take the opportunity to express my disappointment that the book was (in the matter of technique names) less complete than it could have been. Perhaps I’m less concerned about the inclusion of frame data since my Japanese guidebook collection gives me all the info I could ever need on that subject, but that doesn’t mean I’m anything less than happy for owners of this new guide who otherwise wouldn’t have easy access to this information. But at the same time, I have to say that it’s disappointing to see that another aspect of Street Fighter that’s also almost never available to the English-speaking gamer – regardless of whether it garners more or less interest than frame data – got left out.

I might buy the guide later on. I did reserve my game, so next Wednesday (on EB’s calendar) I’ll be ready!
Big up to Mike “Masaka” Creque for making it to the credits in the back of the book.
One question about the game itself though, will it work with my PS1 ASCII joystick?
I got nothing against that man. Im just saying it doesnt make the strategy guide (strategy wise) any better imo.
I don’t mean to be negative, but I do have some complaints. In a lot of ways I love the guide, but in some ways it’s a bit puzzling. For instance, the layout is kind of strange–not nearly as tight as the Alpha 2 Bible. In the HSF section, for each fighter it first gives a chart of the WW, CE, and HF normal attacks, then a section comparing all versions of the character plus a good and bad matchup, then the last section is the NC and ST normals. Why are the character differences stuck between the two sections of normals? Also, why do the WW, CE, and HF normals read from left to right, and the NC and ST normals read from top to bottom?
In Ken’s section in HSF, they seem to have left out two of his kicks: :r: :df: :d: + K and :hcf: + K.
They leave out Dhalsim’s new jumping Jab & Strong in ST.
I would have liked to see tier charts for HSF.
Despite the HSF section lacking somewhat, I think the 3rd Strike section makes up for it. Overall, I’m glad I bought it.
Getting this today or maybe tomorrow, HEK YA!!!
Yeah The SFA3 Guide Was Fucking ASS. Anyway Anyone Know Where I Can Get The SFA2 Guide?
i think thats how it works with most games
ok so why can’t i chose the start+button outfits in third strike? that’s really annoying me and i dunno why it’s not working… help?
You’re supposed to beat the game with that character to earn those colors. If you haven’t done that, it’s probably why.
eh of course. thanks for the info tho.
Alright, I’ve been playing SF2 since I was like 10 years old and I still play it like a beginner. I want to get good at HSF2 and SF3, so this guide sounds like the answer. Do you think EB and Game Stop still carry this guide?
Also, kind of off topic, can anyone fill me in on some good guides for these games?
-SFA Anthology
-MvC2
-CvS2
The only system I have is PS2. Thanks for your help!
Don’t bother playing mvc2 on PS2. Go get a Dreamcast
EB and Gamestop will not have this guide on hand. Your best bet is an online auction or online gaming store. Also, for 3S, Thongboy Bebop has an excellent tutorial on combovideos.com.
SFA Anthology official guide by BradyGames is INCREDIBLE.
MvC2… not sure, but i’m thinking the Prima guide is just a glorified movelist. also, MvC2 on PS2 is sorta lame. SRK info/match vids are better.
CvS2 guide that was released in USA is lame. Just a glorified movelist with retarded combos. SRK info/match vids are better.
You “MIGHT” get a copy at a local gamestore, but the guide’s been out for ages now, so they’re hard to find. Best bet is to find the guide online through book sites like amazon.com, I think? I forget where to look.
There are no decent strategy guides for MvC2 and CvS2, you’ll have to find the data on this site, through forum topics or the wiki on the front page. Make sure you check the specific strategy sections for stuff like that.
There are also videos you should take reference from also, searching the forums are pretty easy, and some people would be happy to help you out.
Enjoy
Out of curiousity, what’s better about the DC version?
Either way, there is no way in hell I’m getting a DC…haha.
Thanks for the help everyone. If the Guides for SFAC and SFAA are as good as you say, I’ll pick them up.
I guess I’ll have to search the net for startegies on the Vs games.
