I got this stick as well recently, and i really want to mod it. i’m thinking of getting a IL stick but im not sure which buttons. i prefer sanwa buttons, but im not sure if i can install sanwa on this. iv never even opened a stick before. im not very good at this stuff, but im gonna try and learn instead of going out paying over 150 for a good stick i might as well put 40 into it since i already have the case. im just curious which buttons would be best for this type of box.
Start up by reading Slagcoin.com, go though and read the guides from the links on the intro thread as well.
You can put sanwas in that case it just will require a bit of dremmeling.
you will want to get screw type buttons and yes, as said the button holes will have to be opened up. If your keeping the orginal pcb putting japanese buttons will actually make wiring easy since it already has .110 qds for the buttons.
Hole size is 28mm so you would have to dremel the button hole & the plexi to fit japanese parts. IMO just replace them with IL stick & competition buttons convex not concave. No need to ruin a perfectly awesome stick. I still have my Zangief one.
so the basic il euro sticks and the buttons fit it already without me having to make the holes bigger?its my first time even trying to do soemthing like this so i wana do it the easiest way possible i have no friends here who could help me so wana start the easiest project first which hopefully wont require screwing with pcbs just taking out buttons sticks and putting new ones in
Are you planning to keep the PS2/Xbox pcb in there? If that’s the case you will have to solder the wires back to the new stick & buttons. I would recommend quick disconnects.
lol i want to do it the easiest way but tbh i have 0 experience with this type of stuff i an barely use a screw driver lol wheres the bets place to learn how to do this where i dont have to keep searching to find bits and pieces
What system are you planning to use this stick for?
pc it comes with a ps2 and xbox plug so ill use a generic psx usb adapter i guess one dya ill learn how to mod psx pads for pc so i wont have lag like 99% of the adapters have its sad it forces u to use sticks nowadays
Why not cut the Xbox end off and wire it to a normal usb end? I’m sure the drivers for o.g. Xbox controllers are floating around on the net.
There are OG Xbox to USB adapters, no need to cut the wire.
The Xbox cable is already a USB cord with a non-standard plug and a extra wire no one uses.
Had no idea those were a thing these days. Last time I messed with old Xbox controllers it was still a diy affair.
that sounds like a plan tbh
so i basically wouldnt have to fuck with any of the wires just replace the stick and buttons
You can probably find a used TE stick. Probably cheaper then buying an adapter & replacing parts for your SF15 stick.
