I’d like to record some matches of some CPS2 games (MSH, COTA) with a friend of mine. I understand that certain emulators have the capability to record input records of a match, which you can use to replay the match later.
What I’d really like to do is play a bunch of matches on said emulator (saving the replay files), then look through the replays and record the good ones. What I’d like to know is what programs I will need, and if there is a pre-written guide to doing this stuff already.
The emulator I normally use is MAME32k 0.64. I have Adobe Premiere 6.5 somewhere; I just have to find the disc. I don’t have FRAPS, but I can get it… unless there’s an easier way to accomplish all of this.
If the framerate of the video is choppy, try lowering the desktop resolution when recording and use a lossess codec like Huffyuv or Lagarith.
Some other recording tips…when recording from the replay to the AVI, try to break it up at short intervals (4 or so minutes), sound tends to drift further out of sync the longer a vid it’s recording goes.
If you plan on posting vids to Youtube, if the vid is 60fps convert it to 30fps, Youtube seems to desync the audio on 60fps vids.
