Is your cab dirty? Get baby wipe or q tip & make sure the pots are clean…Its the green board on the upper right on this pic

Also you can try adjusting the contrast/brightness on that green board or at chassiss

Planning on getting a Blast City soon. Keep this thread alive.
Hope you fix the problem my dude. Keep us updated! This is the first time I heard of Viletims and it sounds like a good solution! I kind of miss the cab already even though I barely used it. Sell me your Kraylix now! haha jk
Blast City’s has a security switch that turns the cabinet off when you open the door. You could get a zip tie and put around this small switch to keep it pressed and you can have your door open whenever you feel like it.
Yeah the insides of my thing are dusty/dirty like yours, but my pots have plastic knobs? I’m not sure how/what I was supposed to clean with the q tips and rubbing alcohol but I rubbed whatever section I could with the qtips. Still having the same problem though, thanks for the help though, I appreciate it. I think this pic is upside down?
Chu got it mang. :smokin:
Haha I just hit up my friend that was interested, if he backs out I’ll put you next in line
Does the same go for Astro City cabs as well? But the screen didn’t turn back on when I closed the door?
Thanks for all the replies everybody!
Did you try adjusting your brightness/contrast from the green board or the back of the tube?
When you said you had an image when you first turned it on, what did the image look like? Was it bright or dim?
Yeah I messed around with all the knobs on that green board thing. Where’s the adjustment knobs on the back of the tube? The little green circuit board or the bigger motherboard looking thing?
Ummm, nothing really to compare it too, I guess you could say it could have been brighter but it was playable. I could read the text on the screen and see the animations just fine.
This. I would love a clear photo of any of these knobs from the back of the tube if possible.
Going on a weekend getaway with the asian wife, ill post up some pics when i get back from that…Its knob for the sharpness & contrast…
Hey man have a good one! I’ll poke around the back of my cabinet for those knobs.
i thought they were on the tube but its actually the chassis…Here’s the pic, i believe the top is the sharpness & bottom is for brightness…
Let me know if you need additional photos…
rcaido: That’s exactly what I needed. Thanks a ton for this! To confirm, the top one is for sharpness, bottom for brightness.
Glad i can help, yeah best thing when tweaking the brightness/sharpness & also your contrast is to have a mirror in front of the monitor or have someone who has a good eye watch it while you adjust…
There are also pots in the chassis where you can adjust the red green blue(second set), this is more advance & you will need a lot of time patience to get what you want…I only recommend this if your colors are bleeding or washed out…If your colors are fine dont mess with it…
Ill take another pic later tonight pointing to where you can adjust…
I’m good with that portion but feel free to post up additional pics for anyone else that might need it going forward. Between the adjustment of those two knobs in the back and the pots my screen looks damn near perfect now. I’m in good shape now.
I’ve made a guide on how to fine tune the picture of the NANAO MS9 (same monitor in Taito EGRET II and SEGA New Astro City). The black thing you’re seeing in the picture with two pots is called the flyback. http://www.emphatic.se/?p=710
I tried fiddling with the contrast and brightness knobs on the flyback (thanks emphatic for the terminology) but I still don’t get a picture. When I turn the thing on I can hear the monitor firing up, like when you turn a tv on you can hear that high pitched tone. But I still don’t have a picture, I tried turning it on with no game hooked up to the jamma and still no picture.
Maybe it could be a wire that could have come undone? I don’t know what else to look for really. Thanks for all the help so far Rcaido and Emphatic
Only testing with the CPS2 board, or do you have access to other JAMMA PCBs as well? CPS2 boards have suicide batteries, so are you sure it’s “alive”? If you’re testing with the viletim, do you more than one RGB scart source to plug into it? Did you attach the big white porcelain part to the green screw terminals (+5V and GND)? This is sometimes needed for some cabinets (mine does).
Is the screen totally dark, or do you see a white line across the screen? If you have a white line, the remote control board for the screen (available under the control panel) might have been pulled loose from the main chassis board. This HAS to be connected for the monitor to work.
Nah I’ve only got 1 CPS2 board. When I first got the cabinet and CPS2 board home I plugged everything in and turned everything and it was working fine, I had a picture and sound and everything, for about 3 minutes. I opened up the coin door to “put some tokens” in and when I opened the coin door the screen went black, but I still had sound and everything else, just no more picture. Does it still count as “alive” is there’s no picture?
I don’t have the viletim’s yet, I wanna get the monitor working before I order the viletim and an SCART for my 360. The monitor is totally dark, no white lines or nothing. I’ll double check those connections of the remote control board to make sure it’s connected.
THANKS MAN!
Nice guide emphatic, those who want to do adjustments the pots are located here in the chassis
Truckasaurus
Check to see if these cables are connect & are clean from any debris from both connection…
Also make sure to clean out the bottom of the pots(those two metal things), its possible the solder joints could have came off from the small green board…Check those too, try pushing down on them to see if it makes a difference or touch it with a small screw driver…
Another thing to check out is the jamma harness…Is it on the right way? Sometimes if you put it on wrong can damage the PCB arcade game…Do you have an extra one to try to see if it makes a difference?
