I couldn’t be bothered to set up my capture card so just recorded a dummy and used my phone, so that’s why it’s not off knock down, though works the same. The spacing in the video is different between the crossup and fake crossup, though that doesn’t matter, just how it turned out. In fact the first divekick in the video was crossing up half the time and fake crossing up the rest of the time (exactly the same inputs) when Ryu was backed right in to the corner, I guess to do with how his hitbox moves.
This can also be done midscreen and looks the same, just the spacing is very specific and if your opponent walks forward your crossup divekick is going to whiff.
Just played a marathon set vs HutchUSA (about 40 matches), will maybe up some tomorrow. It was fairly lopsided, think I won about 4 total :<. Not that that matters to anyone else here though as I’m sure people will be more interested in HutchUSA’s play =).
Lot of my losses were stupid mistakes by me though, so hopefully I can get some more games in with him later and play a little more solid.
Hah, no worries, the harder the challenge the better =). He adapted to the match a lot faster than me though, was doing a lot better vs him in the first ~10 games I felt, then was only near the end I started feeling like I was getting back in to it again. Basically though, he’s better at footsies than me, that was the main thing that lost it for me, plus I was dropping loads of combos due to tiredness.
Speaking of tanden engine, is anyone using it to suck people in through a fireball like poongko does? I haven’t really worked on it in training mode or anything, but I’ve tried doing it in some casual matches and can’t really get the timing for it. Not sure if it’s something you can do on reaction or if it has to be borderline psychic.
ahh cool, thanks. I could see it actually being pretty useful in some matchups, like Guile assuming tanden engine has enough fireball invincibility for a lp sonic boom to pass through him. looks like it can definitely help put Seth in a range for a mixup.
Very nice Seth. One easy way out of Abel’s vortex is EX SPD, it will beat everything he does besides jump, backdash, ultra (lol) and normal Tornado Throw. Meaty tanden engine is also good on Abel’s wakeup, people like to think that backdashing is relatively safe.
If you get a focus crumple and you’re like 1/3rd of the screen away from the corner you can land legs -> stomps if you do cr.hp -> hk legs instead of s.hp -> hk legs. It pushes them back farther.
EX Legs is also really good at punishing focus attack and EX Rush punches. Yunghove does it a coupe times against the Ryu. Even if you don’t have meter legs can still be good at punishing focus attack because people shouldn’t feel it’s safe. Tanden is also good at this if they’re close enough to get sucked in.
Yunghove I like the way you link to s.hp from cr.lp. I should do that more.
In the corner after blocked headstomps j.lk will usually put you in front of your opponent which is good for not putting yourself in the corner and for keeping up pressure.
If you have a super stocked in a close round and the round is like 20 seconds left just activate the super around 6-7 (?) seconds left and they won’t get a chance to punish you before time out. You probably already know that though.
Unfortunately you can’t jump at Zangief, like ever. On the bright side, if you want to do mixups on his wakeup your SPD will beat everything he can do besides jump, backdash, U1, and jump cancelled lariat. Meaty tanden is also good because you can space it so that Zangief ultra/SPD will whiff and it will beat EX Green Hand.
And yeah I don’t think you can ever anti-air viper with U1. That’s why I use U2. You can catch Seismos with U1 but she can bait it with a cancelled seismo. You can anti-air with a lp srk and it’s safe if she makes it whiff. MP DP might be a good AA for her and if you hit with the tip you can go into stomps, dunno. I need to play more vipers.
If you’re not gonna spend meter on a stun combo starting off with a level 3 focus does the most damage, even with scaling.
One thing that’s really effective in wakeup games is empty jump cr.lk hit-confirm. And then once people get used to it you get like five billion empty jump SPDs.
