Well scratch what i said about blanka up ball and jump LP, it does beat the normal one a lot of times, but i get a lot of trades too in training mode.
I was right about the sonic boom beating ultra 1 and super though, if they do that fullscreen (i know, who would do that fullscreen) you can use sonic boom to hit them out of it.
If you have a full super yourself, and you see a blanka do super/ultra at a distance, you can just use HP super to beat him. If he does ultra 1 at a distance throw an lp boom first then use MP super for about 400 damage.
Strange thing i found, when you use super (without boom) to suck him out of ultra 1, you get more damage the LATER you do it. If you start HP super as soon as you can after his ultra 1 freeze you get about 270 damage, if you wait a bit you get about 360 (differs)
As someone already pointed out, you don’t have to FADC after U1 to do sonic boom trap. Just Boom when you see the 20 hit combo pop up. Tanden at the end of your block strings help out a lot, you can also punish fireballs with ex legs. Also, c.sk c.jp c.jp c.sp messes up your damage scaling, c.sk c.jp c.sp gives you enough time to hit confirm. On Goukens wake up, do a meaty tanden engine outside of tatsu range, which leads you to mix ups like c.jp tick spd or shoryu fadc stomps, or mag loop. You also don’t dash out of your focus attacks and get punished.
Sound fair enough. Right now I’d just really edgey about doing legs in general due to Seth’s health so I love doing cr.lk cr.lp cr.lp cr.mp > legs. I will work on that. I’ve managed that sonic boom trap and your right it works wonders thanks for that. Managed it against some decent players which makes it all the sweeter. I’ll work on the tanden, I do also love just jumping over for a tick SPD or a cross up block string/combo and rinse and repeat. Ty for your input, I’ve got one more match with him to upload and against a Juri player.
There were times in that match where you were way too predictable about throwing sonic booms. Given that he had meter, you should have eaten big combos from an EX demon flip. Also, he didn’t seem to know how good cr.hp is. He definitely was NOT a good Gouken. He’d get a knock down on you and then run away.
As for you:
You really need to dash out of your focus more. A good Gouken would have made you eat an EX palm.
There were a few times where you should have eaten an Ultra due to bad jump-ins.
When you got the dizzy in the second round, you went for a reset using j.hk. Use j.hp instead as it puts you in better position to get the SPD.
If you see him demon flip towards you, use j.mp. His parry will fail due to two hits and you get the stomps afterwards.
I’m sure you already know this, but I would not recommend using the Sonic Boom FADC vs. Gouken due to his Parry. He just has to Parry the sonic boom and then it will light you up out of your teleport with the blast.
