Interesting Seth super question

Seth can do decent damage off of jump in RH, C.FP, Jumpign Mid punch to super on Ryu…but here si the thing…why does the super after jumping mid punch only work on Ryu? Every other character (EVEN ones that are at the same height) Just fall and don’t eat the super…just an interesting question for Yall.

ryu has some funny ryu-only hoodoo. shrug

while ryu get raped by seth super ( damage scalling… damn you ) he escapes some crap like no man’s business. Mostly noticed against MK hands from gen.

That matched happened after he played u… thats what he told me…
and da tourney he played me in… i was rusty too… like really badly…
like he would jump and i’ll do a fucken crouching fierce instead of Shoryu…

but i’ve played him recently (like yesterday)…he knows the match up better now…
:wonder:

I only got 2 matches with him and then I got kicked off the console. It was 1-1 though.

Hello Seth-board =) Would appreciate some criticism on my Seth play

Hello eiSH, nice Seth! Here goes some constructive criticism:

Round 1 VS Abel, at 88 seconds on the timer you scored a level 2 focus attack. At this point your best combo option (judged by how much meter you had available) was crouching fierce, lp shoryu, 3 head stomps and a dive kick. This gives you a reset to play with as well.

Round 1 VS Abel, at 82 seconds you did another focus attack, that means you did 2 focus attacks in the same combo due to you stunning Abel with the EX shoryu. Damage scaling comes into play here, so you could just neutral jump roundhouse, crouching fierce, lp shoryu, 3 head stomps and dive kick, or if you are close to the edge then neutral jump roundhouse, close standing roundhouse, crouching medium punch, hyakuretsu kyaku, 3 stomps and divekick.

Round 2 VS ABEL, at 55 secs. You can grab him out of rolls, even EX ones. I hold away from my opponent and do a regular throw. You can also SPD though, if so I use lp or EX if I need the damage.

Also incase you didn’t know Abels Ultra easily punishes Seth’s Sonic Booms. Generally I think you need to work on your execution a bit, you seemed to get Tandem Engine a lot when it looked like you were going for crouching medium punch into hyakuretsu kyaku. Tandem Engine lp, outside Abel’s throw range is a good option on his wakeup, hit confirm into hyakuretsu or tick into SPD if blocked.

Round 1 VS C. VIPER, at 71 secs if you didn’t do jump back fierce you could have escaped being cornered by wall jumping out. I use neutral/jump back fierce for spacing and zoning, so when I’m cornered I tend not to do it as much, seeing as I’m the one in an unfavourable position.

There were a few other things here and there, but some gambles really paid off for you so I can’t say much there. But generally you should practice your execution. Go to the combo section on this forum and check out Seth’s best damage dealing options for punish situations and practice doing them. Overall a very nice Seth, I enjoyed watching you play!

Thanks dude =)

I didn’t know you could SPD Abel out of his rolls, that’s crazy XD And the only reason why I use the j.Strong 1-hit combo into Shoryu is 'cause it looks cool =) The s.Roundhouse -> c.Strong -> LL is something I haven’t worked on very much so I’m not really confident in using it~ Also the Tandems were on purpose =) I do it to keep people close/build meter hit or blocked ('cause it’s just casuals and I like being a dickhead). Reckless I know, but I like reckless  The combo after stun =( I thought I was going to push him into the wall so I could follow up with the stomps and mixup

There was a point in the Viper match where I accidentally hit ex.Tandem and Viper’s Flamekick completely whiffed o.o; Anyone know how many frames of invincibility that move has?

[list]
[]Usually you shouldn’t go for TE on hit. Take the legs and do a teleport if you want to try to go for a stun. Take free damage whenever you get it.
[
]Know that someone that knows TE will jump out of it and combo your ass. It is a risk to use.
[]Don’t walljump at Abel unless it’s on his wakeup or you make him block a boom. That’s a free j.hp for him. Beats everything you can do in the air.
[
]A non-FADC’d Change of Direction (first hit) is a free EX SPD for Seth.
[]Don’t do those silly weird cr.hp combos. Cr.hp xx lp shoryu -> stomps is your BnB for a reason. If you want to add on a cr.hp xx EX tandem, okay. In the corner, go for cr.hp -> hk legs.
[
]If you’re punishing something like Viper’s hp TK or Balrog’s headbutt where it’s like -12 or whatever, go for s.hp xx legs instead of cr.mp xx legs. It does like 40 more damage and 100 more stun. If you have two bars and feel fancy, do s.hp xx sonic boom xx EX Focus Attack level 2 -> cr.hp xx lp shoryu -> stomps.
[]Don’t jump out of Viper’s mixups. It doesn’t work. Just block and wait for a chance to counterpoke or DP. Obviously if you’re not in the corner teleport is good.
[
]Sonic Boom = free Seismo -> burning kick for viper if she’s on the ball.
[]If you want to chip with super, do something like hp shoryu xx lp super or get away first and do lp boom xx hp super. Otherwise a good player will ultra through your super to kill you.
[
]Color 10 is the best Seth color. I agree. However, Seth with pants > Seth without pants.
[]You can get all three stomps -> dive kick off of a shoryu FADC if you wait a tiny bit before the first stomp.
[
]You do a lot of good things in these matches. Your mixups are good and you play it mostly safe. You’re better than most other people who post videos here.
[*]One thing I do suggest is incorporating Shoryu FADC into your teleport mixups. On block you can SPD, cr.lk, or instant air stomp, and on hit you get the reset mixup. The teleport mixup is a little loose in terms of frames so you gotta get people to respect it with things they have to block.

Yo Glacius color Seth baby XD

Thanks for all the advice guys =) Will work on everything slowly but surely

Kikuichimonji is the truth. Every time he posts critique I learn at least something.

So I suck because I didn’t land a single combo, but I felt the need to get more videos up of Seth.

You should really mix in Seth’s throws after one or two blocked hits from your bnb.

This guy’s pretty good. Jumps in too much though. He uses a lot of tools I don’t see other people use, like neutral j.hk.

This Seth is very nice. Although, I do agree that he jumps in at Dan too much considering Dan has a good AA, especially when he has the life lead… why risk it?

I also think he should stick crouching medium punch into Hyakuretsu Kyaku on the end of those crouching jab strings when they connect, its very easy to hit confirm after 3 crouching jabs. Still a very good Seth though.

That Seth is fucking awesome! He straight did the Fierce > SB > FADC > Fierce > SB > FADC > Fierce > Bullet kick.

That’s so bomb to see someone do it.

That was a seriously impressive 50 hit combo (4:00 mark)

Solid videos though. It’s always surprising to see this is you learning your first fighting game (am I right?)
