Seth Video Thread

I would appreciate any input you guys have. I know the Blanka matchup and how to punish shit, just tournament.

You said you know how to punish stuff so we cant really put any input there however…

When you did the air crumple you should have followed it with lighting legs…think it would have done more damage and more importantly, saved your ultra.

Yeah from reading these threads and watching this video your Seth looks better than mine.
So I don’t think I have any strategy you don’t know.

I just wanted to point out that I know that Rexor has experience fighting Seth.
You might already know that but just thought it was worth pointing out.
The more my opponent knows about Seth the more perfect I have to play.

I’ve never tried to do legs after the air crumple. Does it hit reliably? I usually just do standing fierce. Also, I’m not sure if it’s possible to get the full ultra off of the air crumple, because I’ve never tested it. I moreso did the ultra for the mixup than the damage as well.

I know with Balrog he was backdashing out of my mixup. Are there any good options to beat this besides Tandem Engine and option select DP? Because Tandem Engine screams “free reversal!” if done too early and I’ve never really tried option select DP.

Does legs punish EX Up Ball on hit?

Wow, just watched the first set between you and his Blanka. He plays Blanka like me (a scruBlanka). Hindsight is 20/20, but I have to tell you the Golden Rules even if you know them.

I posted this in a FaceBook message for my team:
“READ: Keep this in mind! If Blanka is NOT crouching, he CANNOT vertiball you. If he walks forward even 1-step it means he CANNOT Blanka Ball or Rainbow roll you. You CAN Focus non-reversal Rainbow Rolls and Vertiballs for a free punish during his recovery. Keep in mind if he’s within slide range he WILL slide. That’s a free punish off Focus attack or Block if it’s deep.”

Just always remember, do NOT try to take to the sky if you’re playing Blanka, He rapes Vega for a reason.

With how you played you did well, but a trick you need to be on the look out for.

Such as:
Blanka’s Ex Meter - ALWAYS LOOK before you even think about throwing a Sonic boom… before you even think about the Sonic boom. Blanka players will burn that shit, they don’t save it up like other characters.

My only tip is: Train your poke’mon better~!
This means you needed to just block his balls and punish with Fierce ONLY. Do not try to mix that up. If you try to mix it up, it shows him you are giving him a chance to Ex Vertiball if you fuck up any of your links, and 1 vertiball is too many.
Fierce only punishing blocked balls also psychologically messes with your opponent, they get the idea, “EVERY TIME with those arms! Maybe I’ll just stop”. It makes them resort to Absorbing Booms and dashing through them, jumping over them, or sliding.

You basically trick your opponent into giving up his best weapons against you.

I expect nothing less than Blanka rape the next time you post a video!~

Edit: I also noticed you tried to play against him like Balrog (j.Fierce to your combo of choice).

Never EVER forget, Blanka can move around the map WITH a Down charge using the hops. That shit is scary and I fuck people up with it ALL THE TIME when I play with him.

If he’s backdashing he won’t have charge, so imo MP tandem would be a good bet.

Overall, I don’t have much to say. Most of what I would is just preference, like how much more you use EX’s than me outside of combos. Seth can be played almost any way ya want, so if it works, I don’t got much to say.

First up: you played the rog matchup well.

He had problems with j.FP which is odd for me to see. He should have been throwing out more EX straights and c.FP in reaction to your jumps. You made few mistakes, and he made just enough to lose. There are some nitpicks I could make but they don’t matter very much. Except for how much you threw out j.FP. He can FP headbutt that full screen.

Good job.

Blanka:

Legs after air crumple always works if you focus an up ball.

Yes legs punishes EX up ball on hit.

The blanka match is easy enough to critique. You jumped and focused too much. He could have hit you with upball even more than he did. He also refused to sit on a lead. Bad idea imo.

I laughed at 5:12, I get it so often. GJ.

Use jab tandem more in footsie range. It’s very hard to react to. On block, tele out or SPD.

Grab him with a tandem and combo after whiffed up ball. Or jab dash reset -> teleport to bait the reversal ball that usually comes.

Missed combo opportunities when you did land a j.hk. Oh well, I’ll chalk that up to tourney jitters.

I have a lot of experience with above average blankas. I play at least one every time I go to a meetup around here. I’ll help out with more advice if you want.

Last words: sorry I don’t feel like I was much help. I’m not terribly good at criticism of replays, which is why I avoid it as much as possible.

lol Thanks guys but ComboJack Raped me in da next Tourney…lol

Chris Hu voice: Please…no jumping…I Punish That Shit With Ultra… LMAO!!!

Yeah because you busted him up so bad, you made him hit training mode and learn the matchup, lol. Still, I give credit, anyone who beats your Seth is doing something right.

Dash forward and do mk.legs. It hits every time unless they are jumping back and you air crumple. However, if you have the EX to burn a sonic boom EX teleport is better than the ultra. But your reason for doing it was not a bad one at all.

lol that’s cause he played me for like 50 games in Cali i was rusty with seth at that time but im sure it helped him understand the fight a lot better

me vs fat rufus at G1 Finals:

no flashy combos, but I dont need to do them at rufus

Good shit on the zoning with Seth tutorial xD

what do you mean by “zoning”?

That Rufus didn’t have a clue. Not a single attempt at doing Snake Strike to counter neutral/back jump fierce.

I thought this was funny…

GTFO, grow up you retarded kid, your bullshit isint wanted here

when he jumps , L.P. uppercut ,then x3 stomp, dive kick does more damage than the full uppercut.

means keeping distance. exp:Necro- Dhalsim - Spiral. etc

I think this just proves grinding gp is pointless, the competition gets no better :<

well hk uppercut is more invincible than lk, sometimes some fly kicks hit lk uppercut and seth fall to the ground

lk uppercut, I’ll have to try that when I get back from dinner:tup:

Jk, Proceed
