Seth SSFIV: AE Loc Test Impressions (News, Venting, Etc.)

He has a hitbox behind him so you can’t float over fireballs. However you can move backwards to bait an anti-air uppercut and get a full punish. Also it lets you end up closer to them off a neutral jump. Not terribly useful however.

No I just wait untill my opponent does something retarded, and then do either one of his bnb combos (preferably the one that leads to mix-up situation). It’s just how I roll, I don’t like being really offensive (if I play Seth).

If I have meter I’ll do srk fadc (block=SPD hit=stomps). If not I’ll just stay in the corner as long as I don’t get hit it’s fine, it’s not like being in the corner means you lose or anything. Hell seth has so many options, dash into spd is also something I’d use sometimes to get out of the corner.

lol…seems like you play a tough battle my friend. One not to add from seth NJ mk, is if you land sweep, dash up, nj.mk hold forward. It will crossup SRK on wakeup and be safe.

Well I only play Seth if my main it at a huge disadvantage (like against Honda) he balances out most of the bad matchups Gen has. It may sound tough but because I main Gen I am used to playing a footsie game, but with Seth playing footsies is just…everything he will poke out can get reversaled with ease except maybe his s.mk. I don’t like the idea of getting in a footsie battle midscreen when I only have 750 hp. Sonic boom + j.hp + s.hp + feint nj.mk + divekicks are the things I’ll use to get my opponent to do something stupid. Orcourse I do go on the offensive if I score a knockdown, and his mix-up game is insane especially in the corner.

BTW, I said ages ago that st.cl.HP should be b+HP. But okay.

I just think the range of which s.cl.HP should increase. You only want stretchy limbs when they’re about half a screen away at minimum anyway.

This. I would hate close standing fierce to be b+Hp; it would make the cancel into SRK a pain in the ass. If anything, the stretchy arms should be df+hp. I want something similar to Dictator’s or T. Hawk’s far roundhouses, but I doubt he’d get it.

I do not enjoy when I am out of close FP by a pixel and far fp comes out causing me to die to a reversal ultra or another similar move.

Just use cr.mp if you’re worried about getting far s.hp. j.hk -> cr.lp -> s.hp is consistent. cr.mk xx boom fadc s.hp is 99% consistent and easy to see when it won’t work and do cr.mp.

But no I definitely agree. CS.HP(even cs.HK is awesome) is such a great anti air that it seems that they only want it to be situational. I would love for it to be b.hp. But doubt we’ll get that kinda love. We’re almost down the stretch so we can either cry or fap. Either way I’ll be preparing a tissue :). But it doesn’t seem like it makes sense to take away our best keepout weapon and GIVE US NOTHING. I saw, F.Champ playing Seth on the stream yesterday, he’s sponsored, and believe that he has gotten his hands on AE, maybe Seth will be worth playing? Maybe he knows something we don’t? I really hope so.

I remember seeing him play Seth in vanilla vs onlinetony so I don’t think he knows any secrets.

I’m all for making the stretch arms f+HP, and leaving the AA punch as just HP. I’m always afraid of getting the stretch and getting punished bad.

with that s. hp issue…s. mp works as an anti air when your opponent is not directly on top of you. better than gambling the stretchies.

Just saw the finals and no it didnt seem like he “knew some secret.” If it was casuals then maybe that would be plausable but in a final??? Nah, he did it cuz he got steamrolled by ricky against his dahlsim and prayed U2 would kill the fatman. EX srk into Ultra?? thats on of the worst set ups for it.
