Seth Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

No it doesn’t reset scaling, but it builds meter, doesn’t add to scaling and is very easy to do.

I can only do instant stomps, and use stomps in combo, is this the only way to use stomps now? Also people are just randomly dropping out of my stomps during combos and I don’t know why, any advice?

Some combos don’t work properly without a Tanden after the crumple and as JYX said, it builds meter.

You can jump in with stomps and cross the opponent up afterwards, but a normal crossup would usually be better.

You should practice your stomp combos in training mode because you have to time the hits now. Some characters can only be hit by 2 stomps IIRC.

Practically the only time you should jump in with stomps is to do a reset off of a stun. I wouldn’t recommend trying to go air to air with them anymore either.

Hey guys. Is it possible to hit the “focus attack, backdash, jump forward, headstomp, air medium punch, headstomp, headstomp, divekick” combo on slim characters? I tried it a lot today, but it didn’t worked. Only on the “wide” characters. So is it still possible and my timing is off, or i should only attempt on wide characters?

I was trying that last night. It doesn’t seem to be possible on smaller characters. It also feels a lot harder regardless with how long stomps are active now.

Yes…Seth is awesome…but the fact that they took legs AND stretchy jump arms away is just cold…Thanks for the improved stamina and stun…but come on…don’t take Stretchy jump arms AND stomps…AND reduce invincibiity on our ultras… -.- just pick 1, not all 3…why capcom…WHY!

Because a Seth on the defensive is a Seth just waiting to die. Poongko made his opponents guess more defending than he did on the attack. I think he plays the same irregardless of how much HP he has left.

Lol. Sorry to point this out.

The hitbox on the headstomps have become smaller (If i remember correctly), so headstomps are a bit harder to connect. I sometimes have this issue too, but a good way to practice is by delaying second stomp a second or 2 after the 1st. It works mainly on the smaller characters.

Hey, he’s still viable. Bitching about the changes usually doesn’t get people anywhere. Might as well just accept it for now.

Oh guys, btw, if you haven’t “switched” to Poongko style by now, you’re lagging. The game feels better like this.

Red Bull included.

^^
QTF, now Seth makes 100% sense

do you have any safe jump setup against 5 frame reversal like cammy fei long or the twins ?

i found one vs yun is after a backthrow

is dash forward then jump HK

i don’t have any setups because i’m used to either beat them with my dive kick or make them whiff :frowning:

thx ^^

Anyone ever had the problem when first playing seth, doing his bnb lightning legs, get tandem engine to come out instead of his legs? Obviously i am getting negative edge from the crouching strong i throw out before the legs input and need to somehow time my inputs but its SO DAMN FRUSTRATING (as you can see first time im taking arcade stick seriously). I’m about to go back to pad since i am able to do all of his inputs flawlessly but noooo everyone says stick is the way to go.

just hold the cr.mp button while doing legs so you dont get negative edge by accident.

How do you adjust between online and offline,I can always link cl.hp from close lights, but linking cr.mp has become a problem for me…any tips on linking cr.mp accurately, because when i miss i die, legs have terrible recovery on block.

Hey guys. I’m gonna ask something scrubby. How do you guys going in with Seth? I play him almost everyday and i’m getting results with him, but sometimes, after a couple well placed antiairs and mashed DPs i get stuck and i don’t know how to continue from that. I usually start the match neutral, zoning, throwing out pokes, waiting for a walljump or a random knockdown, but sometimes i just didn’t get it. Any tips?

And an another question. Do i have a good anti air option against crossups and deep anti airs? Standing fierce is good, but sometimes i got the stretchy arm and i look like an idiot. Also, my DPs are tend to not autocorrect :S Guess i have to gain much more experience.

Sometimes you just gotta take it slow and look for patterns if you can’t land any DPs or wall jumps. Look for holes in their footsie game and land dash SPD / sweep or punish zoning with EX Legs.

And that’s the theoretical free zone against Seth I was talking about in the tier list before everyone jumped on the same bandwagon (because it’s whining if you don’t claim a character is the greatest now, I guess.) You basically have to time a perfect cst.HP or forget about it and block. Sometimes your cst.HP will activate the wrong way (literally just activate in a direction your opponent isn’t) so usually it’s just a better idea to block.

If you’re having difficulty linking cr.MP online, could try plinking I guess.

Well, i’m playing him almost two years now. I picked him up as a complementary character to Chun. I think where Chun is weak, Seth is strong. And i love the fact, that both character can do a combo after focus attack backdash. Oh, and the Lightning Legs. I posted here a couple of times but i am not a frequent (freequent XD ) poster. It’s just getting harder to get around with Seth, even if i think that AE Seth is the strongest iteration of the character. The Yuns and Yangs are killing me. They stuff my anti airs and blow up my ground game. I’m usually able to avoid crossups, but when a twin knocks me down, it’s a whole different game.

And i have annnnother question. Sorry for the multiple posts. Fei Long… when he does a crouching strong following with a light punch rekka frametrap, it seems like i don’t have any option to beat it. I always getting countered, and then he can combo into more rekkas. I usually pick Chun for this match, but after the buffs, it’s just plane rape. So i wanna stick with Seth in this. It seems that Seth looses hard in the poke game, and i have to zone pretty carefully if i wanna avoid any random ex rekkas. Can you give me some pointers against the Fei Long frame traps? Can i command grab the light punch rekkas?

Yunghove posted some good advice for Yun in the match up thread. I think lots of it applies to Yang as well.

Fei Long is fucking god like, I don’t know what to do against him either. Any time I beat a Fei, it’s because they couldn’t stop trying to autocorrect on wake up or mashed on wake up. But I think you can blow up his frame traps with DP FADC, and I do not think you can ever command grab a Rekka.
