Seth Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

thanks guys

I guess this was asked before but since i have no time to search:
How can i get seths Hardkick divekick 100% it seems pretty strange compared to other divekicks and i sometimes do not know why i dropped a divekick and why not?

Hit :d:, not :df: or :db:.

Also there is a height restriction.

Why is MP DP the dp of choice for some of the online jap seths (hiropon comes to mind on this one) when either attempting to mash out a reversal, or do it on wake up. Is there any benefit of mp over hp dp?

Mp won’t give you a crouching fierce on accident, and the angle it goes at is better for hitting ambiguous jump-ins that hp SRK would whiff on.

I never payed attention to that, good to know.

Yeah, and if they jump in Deep and the wrong part of the srk connects then the 2nd/3rd hit whiffs. So it’s more damage.

They have the same amount of invincibility? Any of you going to NEC this weekend? Ill be there.

I’m curious about the mp invincibility as well, i play a sakura player that likes to do neutral jump roundhouse set-ups in the corner, i often find seth’s fierce punch shoryuken goes under him and he gets a free punish, would the medium punch shoryuken trade, or should i just risk delaying my fierce punch shoryuken?
I’m afraid i’ll get hit by the roundhouse if i delay too long, and that can lead to over half my health bar.

You could just check frame data… but anyway, looked it up for you;

all srk’s have 5 frame start up and frames 1-7 are invincible, so they’re the same, yeah… just hp srk has a better hitbox so will beat out more things.

LP has 1-7 invincible? I find that so incredibly hard to believe… are you sure?

ok, checked frame data, it’s only throw invincible… like, duh.

im thinking about learning seth…never realized how underrated he is…now that his j.fierce is gone and his slight health increase he seems like hes gonna be a straight up offensive monster in AE…anyone have some beginner tips or insights i might need to know before picking him up

Prepare to loose a lot of games and become unable to use any of the cast again, as they will seem incredibly boring in comparison to Seth.

^^^This.

Learn to hit-confirm. None of Seth’s specials are safe on block.

Akuma is still fun. But I’m sad when I play Ryu.

Sonic Boom is pretty safe.

I prefer to end blockstrings with a normal or tanden unless I’m expecting a jump. People usually tend to sweep after a blocked sonic boom. It’s -6 depending on range, and it’s not a true blockstring from his normals.

hit confirming really made no sense to me until I picked up Seth. My previous characters were Guile, Sim, Adon, Bison. Those guys aren’t really about the combos basically even if they blocked and you did the combo you were pretty much safe. Seth changed the way I see this game all together. I end my block strings with Tanden, I end my combos with Legs. I learned hitconfirms from c.lk, c.lp, c.mp. Then I learned c.lk, c.lp, c.lp. I find c.mp to be easier but online lag is definitely a bitch, so yea be prepared to lose ALOT because people will mash during your combos expecting you to drop it, and you only have to drop 1 combo to lose half life. Its that damn important. You’ll learn to be safe and reckless at the same time. It a great feeling the first time you get that perfect rushdown. It won’t matter if you win the game or not…you just wanna feel that rush again…lol. Seth=crack

Haha, seth was my first main in my first fighter, i probably learned hit confirming before i learned the fundamentals of fighters!

I try to vary the endings to my blockstrings, but generally you end it with something specific to how the person plays, if they mash dps, block mid-combo, if they’re defensive tanden engine or jump divekick/heavy kick/spd.

The scariest types of players are the ones who can react to the jumps.
