Seth Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

I’m the wrong person to ask because i’ve been fucking up crouch tech 90% since Super came out (don’t ask me why, don’t think anything is changed timing wise?) but from a jumpin attack you don’t need to do that cuz if they’re hit they’re in hitstun and if they block they’re in blockstun, and you can continue your combo and they can’t do anything about it

If you’re doing it from an empty jump, it would be a good idea to do that. Never thought of it.

Oh yeah, I think you’re right about that. Except maybe after divekicks? It seems to have very low hit-stun on block.

Anyone noticed that you can ultra-1 after j.MP if you only hit with the first of the two hits? Seems like it puts them in a different juggle state. Maybe it’s too circumstantial to be useful though. They need to be at about Seth’s head height when you land and do the Ultra. I think you could also do 1st hit j.MP -> ex.SRK -> ex.tandem into BnB cr.HP combo.

Divekick is a different story alltogether, because it depends on where you hit the opponent and i think also on which opponent you do them on. Hit them on the head and you can’t combo, hit them on the toes and you can…i’m sure it’s a bit more complex than that but haven’t tested much

Again on certain characters you can do the two hit j.MP and EX (or normal) SRK afterwards. Personally didn’t know about that 1 hit j.MP>ultra i’ll try that next time i hit training mode.

As rare as 1 hit J.:mp: occurs, it is pretty easy to notice that regardless of the situation (thankfully there is enough time :P). So to mind poop the opponent, I do Cr.:lk" (or close St:hp:) xx Teleport, then EX spd them. Useless and pointless, to the point no one sees it coming, but kinda fun when that happens (especially the obvious hatemail follow up). Ofcourse now with the teleport nerf, everyone can see it coming…

How many recovery frames do we have now on that? 16, right? something like that…

Im so mad at myself…

so im in a tourny match using Seth playing agaisnt a Cammy Player…I dropped several target and basic bnbs to corner combos…I…also I have a bad habit of full screen teleport to attempt SPD on reaction…and do not attempt advanced combos do to me being fearful of meter usage…

I went 2-2 which was my worst performance with Seth…am I losing my edge or what? also I do not know how to feel about U1 and U2…U2 does terrible damage off of combos but it is godsend when in a near death situation

I love U2, ultimate chip super with 88 frames or some shit of invincibility. It beats pretty much anything that isnt Ken’s U2.

U1 all the way for me. There is not falling out of it too early, not punishable on hit in certain situations, punishes more options than U2, deals adequate damage, sets up post hit mix-ups, et cetera.

All U2 has over U1 is chip and being able to combo into often for mediocre damage. Woo.

c.lp -> c.mp ?

2 frames I believe.

cr.lp is +6
cr.mp is 5 start-up. Which means it hits on the 5th frame. So that would be… a 4 frame start-up and a hit on 5. So yeah, 2 frames.

Ok lately i have been having lots of what the hell moments. I was under the impression that if you connect divekick (hit) on a crouching opponent you can combo after it, but these days i have been trying divekick>EX SRK and i’ve been grabbed out of it, counter SRK’d, hit with Bison’s scissor kick…have i been wrong all along about that divekick on crouching opponents thing? did they change it in super? is it just online? I’d love to know.

Ummm… if you’re doing divekick>ex.SRK then supposedly, if they press a button, you eat it.That’s usually how it goes thanks to ex.SRK’s invincibility frames. Are yousure you’re doing ex.SRK and not cr.HP or something? It’s happened to me before.

As for the dive kick giving you more frame advantage on crouching opponents, that’s true.

No i get EX SRK i’m pretty sure of it, only thing i can think of is that my opponent goes from downback to back at the very last moment and isn’t crouching anymore? It seems to work perfectly in training when i set to crouch and auto-block…i’m gonna head into training again now and see if i can find where the problem lies =\

EDIT: well i just tested it in training, and sometimes the dummy would block even if i mashed out the EX SRK, so probably my timing at fault then, coupled with online makes divekick unsafe even on crouching hit (for me at least) =(

The divekick thing is all relative to hitboxes. Some big characters are too tall even when crouching to combo. E Honda hunches over low enough to combo from divekick even when standing. You want them to be as low to the ground as possible. You can also combo off a divekick if it hits their toe because it will hit really late. So if someone likes to cr.mk xx raging demon you it’s easy to combo into say cr.mp xx legs.

Pretty sure divekick is never unsafe on block, ever.

Surely you mean on hit? because i tend to get thrown out of blocked ones all the time =)
