Seth Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

question for the seths, every time i teleport and mash srk if enemy does grab he will ALWAYS grab me after teleport before i can srk him doesnt matter how fast i am. so is teleport+srk such a useless fail ?
if i teleport +grab it gets tech thows so idk what to do with teleport in his face

Either teleport as they’re doing something, e.g. throwing a hadouken or jumping back (PPP teleport towards > spd, gets air fireball happy akumas every time), or throw a sonic boom before hand so they have to guess which way to block.

Teleporting next to someone is punishable unless they’re knocked down or blocking. The best way to make it safer is to cover it with a Sonic Boom.

yup i did that already aswell, just thought seth teleport was kinda safe to mash randoms srk.

I have been messing around with Seth in arcade mode lately to get a feel on he operates and considering adding him to my staple of characters I play. Is it possible to do Hyakuretsu Kyaku or EX Hyakuretsu Kyaku after a DP Trade? If not, what would you guys recommend?

its seems we are a dying breed…Seth players are rarier than golden crack…

at any rate @MASTER…id go for headstomps X4 after a dp trade…pending if you just do one dp…or dp fadc then headstomps…I found this to be much safer for whiffed dp recovery

a corner is seth’s best friend…ive seen a complete lockdown with seth in the corner…there was no escape

it went like this:

crossover j.hk> cr.lp>cr.lk>cr.lp>cr.mp>fireworks>headstompsX4>(STUN)>FA3> Cr.HP(launcher)> J.MP> EX DP(mash seven hits)> EX tandem> Cr.HP(launcher)> ULTRA

keep damage scaling in mind, don’t get flashy and cocky with seth’s combo’s…do what works and nothing extra unless your opponet is close to stun or death…

Here’s one thing I know I used to never utilize come match time: Seth’s agility. You have Teleport, Wall jump and a fast dash.

The life-lead you acquire (No matter how high or how little) is important, it psychologically pressures your opponent to make a move. You can take advantage of this by running away, which will frustrate your opponent and cause him to do something risky/make a mistake to steal the lead. Those openings/opportunities will help you seal the deal if punished correctly.

As for DP trade, safe bet is to Headstomp to Dive kick reset and play with your opponent accordingly.

Seth’s DP doesn’t trade ever if you do it late. Don’t try to get the trade for the stomps, against some characters you’ll actually lose on the trade even with the stomps.

But yeah if you do get the trade you do stomps.

guy ended up winning the match though but what an ass…never get cocky with Seth…he needs meter

shrug If you know it will win the game then why not.

if a cl hk is performed meaty can you get a cl hp in afterwards or will the character not be close enough

Here is another scrub Seth question. Why don’t Seth players ever use hit confirm super((crouching) forward > super)? I was playing with a buddy last night and murdered him with that combo. I think his super is on par with Ryu’s Shinnku Hadoken since it draws you in. I pretty much only use my meter for fadc’s and super’s anyway, not a big EX whore.

im new to usin seth any tips or decent combos i shud be doin??

ive read that crouchin hp into lp shoryuken midscreen is a combo but my lp shoryuken always misses does it have to be done fast??

im also strugglin to land the headstomps from the lightning kick in the corner any tips on landin that??

If your LP Shoryu is not hitting after crouching HP then you’re doing it too slow. Also, it may not work after a cross-up vs. certain characters.

As for Hyakuretsukyaku (aka Lightning Legs) in the corner, try holding up towards during the move and then swiftly bringing the stick (or control pad) to the down position and pressing medium kick when you see your opponent start to fall i.e. they are no longer rising.

Though to be honest this is all trivial, what you really shoud be doing is practicing these things till you can do them for yourself, then you will have your own understanding of the requirements needed :smile:

how do u connect ex tandem with SRK??? I always miss it :frowning:

you must do EX SRK, and get more than five hits.
The problem is that its hard to get more than five hits, someone explain?

Do the second SRK motion a bit latter. Don’t mash it out.

I know the effectiveness of certain options will depend on the character Seth is facing off against, but what are Seth’s options after landing a dive kick, hit or block and what are the pros/cons of each option?
