This is a bit of a newbie question. I have trouble with people who jump immediately pressing a button then land reversal or throw. Obviously you can dp but at some ranges I seem to prefer air to air and it just ends up a mess. Any advice?
I’m wondering as Seth a user what matchups do you find the most uncomfortable? I’m trying to see if I share similarities with other Seth users. Personally i’m most uncomfortable with Gen, Cammy, Seth (lol), Guy and that’s pretty much it.
If they hit a button in the air and whiff, they will go through tripguard, which is a 4 frame window on the ground where they cannot block your attacks. You can convert into cr.lp cr.lp (hit-confirm) cr.mp xx mk legs. You can also anti-air them with s.mk, s.mp, or even far hp (which only anti-airs if they hit a button in the air.). Furthermore, you can just U1 them. j.mp is another good option as well. You can also hit them out of the air with a Sonic Boom, or anti-air cr.hp. You can try to focus the jump attack and land a crumple. You can jump back or backdash to be safe.
If this is on your own wakeup, just block it out and tech throws.

Oiled Hakan with strong focus-dash normal cancels can pose a problem for Seth and his “unblockable” setup. Although if he loses oil and he does not have you in the slide setup then you basically win.

Facing chars that win the neutral game suck, but there’s ways around that. Vortex on Seth, I can vortex them back too. It’s these 3 though that completely bully Seth at neutral, then have really good vortex/setups too, and ofc all of them have good, practical unblockables too (ok Guy maybe not so much).

RTSD, don’t get hit by super -> ultra. Make sure to anti-air him. Don’t throw risky fireballs.

Besides mp/hp uppercut or a really well-timed cr.lp -> cl.hp, everything is really a guess. Lp uppercut can punish on reversal and lead to the stomp, but if he does the followup kick, it can trade or lose. U1 works pretty well I think?
I usually do only st.HP into LP sonic boom since sometimes he gets hit on the floor so i can continue the combo with fadc,I will try the Lp DP into stomps sounds good.
U1 doesn’t work well if you watched poongko vs xian in topanga league.

Yes it works, hard to pull off though and if he messes up you get a free stretchy arms followup. Not practical enough to be a concern.
Cammy can lk drill underneath Sonic Boom. That’s a way bigger problem.
i agree that it isn’t that big of a problem although he doesnt need to focus, jump or throw an own projectile to avoid chip, which is all punishable, but i kind of find it sad that seth’s fireball is an exception height-wise.

By the same token though, Ryu can’t Tatsumaki over it. There’s tradeoffs here.
