Kikuichimonji basically said it all. I like to zone Dudley out until I get an opportunity to rush him down. His wakeup game and his reversals are shit. Don’t get put into the corner. Dudley has great corner pressure and combos in the corner will get you killed fast. Be very careful with your Magneto loop in the corner. IIRC Dudley can dash out of it relatively easily to corner you.
Mag loop is pretty dangerous if he has meter so watch out for ex cc
Thanks for all the tips guys. He’s definitely one of my hardest matchups.
Would you say the same could be said for DeeJay? (Zone him out until you can get a knockdown?) Since like Dudley his jumping normals beat out a lot of Seth’s air to air game.
You can also f.st.hp if he does that forward dash through your booms to help put zoning on the ground.
Sort of. He’s difficult to zone from my experience (relatively little in this matchup). DeeJay has one of the fastest recovering fireballs in the game, and can easily avoid fireballs with his slide and knee shot (or whatever that air knee is called). DeeJay can actually zone you out. His air normals have crazy hitbox and active frames, so he kills you air to air also. His slide can hit you out of your jumping fierce, so be careful where you use it. Short up kick is one of the best anti-airs in the game IMO as is the EX up kick. The EX up kick’s angle and hitbox will beat a lot of the setups that would cause other characters anti-air specials to whiff. I haven’t played against DeeJay that much, but this matchup feels worse than the Guile matchup.
Idk what you’re talking about, but Seth zones him easily.
Fei Long. Piss easy if you zone, but you can’t really TE him as he can just Rekka through, and his DP can beat out yours.
Tips?
Really? He feels a lot harder to zone than other fireball characters like Ryu. Neither set of stretchy arms seem to work very well against him, and he has easy ways around fireballs.
I just found i can stand still and mentally mess with fei. Chicken wing at about 3 to 4 character distance can be punished with s jab or well timed s mp.
Srk jump ins. Ground stretchy his dash ins. U can safe jump cross up after spd to destroy his srk kick. Just keep away from him as much as u can.
Actually yes he can be easy. U have to anticipate the fb for s stretchies tho. A trade is better than nothing. Also people need to learn to focus the fb for meter and gain ultra 1. If dejjay is walk bachk fb happy then jump over them and dive. Just play thier running game back at them. If he has ex hes gonna do that ex kicks so focus back dash to bait and then punish or jump straight up and stomp. Stomp him out of his slide. And jab beats out most or his air attacks. Well timed dive kicks beat out his normal antiairs.
Fireball wars… get to stretchie distance. Then ex fb to bait his fb turn but stuff with stretchies like ryu
Yeah, just absorb fireball for u1 then you basically win right there. You shouldn’t have trouble ultraing his fireballs and just play the match like it’s guile.
s.lp or j.lp? Just wondering since I always get tagged by DeeJay’s jumping normals when I’m trying to play too aggressive.
I should be a little more patient in that matchup. I’ve seen it played aggressive with Seth running all over DeeJay, but I don’t do well doing that in that particular matchup cause I end up putting myself in DeeJay’s vortex.
Whats the general consensus on ibuki vs seth? I usually get raped hard, like american history X hard. Once she scores a knockdown and starts her vortex I’m pretty much dead since I’ll get hit like a little itch and get stunned. I’m tired of raping a whole room only to find a random ibuki styling on me for free forcing me to switch characters to get even.
When in doubt, block not crossup. Also she’s pretty free on wakeup so just do dumb Seth shit to her.
the new tier list that was recently posted on eventhubs has it 6-4 in ibuki’s favor and I gotta say I agree. Seth struggles vs momentum based characters like ibuki and abel because he stuns so fast
The aggressive seth probably wasnt fighting a good deejay. I can be agressive too against a noob but its better to let him run while u stay away too. He will get frustrated and mess up. Yes j.jab beats out airs and s.hp beats close deejay jumpins. Like yunghove said. Play like hes guile. Find an opening n take it and then back off once he has ex meter so u wont jump into his ex kicks.
Ex lighting legs beats her vortex on seth wakeup. The knives wiff and seth auto corrects. Just time it good
Or focus and dash forward or teleport forward to mess with her crossup attempts
The Ibuki Match up is 9-1 whoever gets the knockdown first. Both Characters have crap load of options against each other, different amount of baits and can punish almost every reversal or escape attempt.
As Captain said, you can EX legs the kunai cross up on wake up, but Ibuki can adjust her timing slightly to make it un-auto-correct, and gets a free neckslide or dash in Combo into knockdown again. Like kikuichi said, blocking can be tricky, since it being cross up or not is entirely random. I always block non cross up, but it wont work all the time :l.
However, if the Ibuki player is pushing too far on free styling you, attempt a reversal EX legs or SRK and make him respect your options.
Based on what you just said, this makes the game less character-based, and more player-based.
Incorporating solid basics to your game-play will be the most consistant way to win in this match-up. AA Uppercuts, Good blocking/cross-up defense, teching throws, and pokes.
You all should know your escape options but the problem is, so does your opponent. Be aware they will know of the -16 teleport, the -20+ Bullet kick, the -90 Ultra 2, and the vulnerability of your sonic boom. Avoid being like all the other Seth players who get caught with their pants down and only play with a confident arsenal come tournament time… In practice time, go nuts!
I know I haven’t been around for awhile, but Ibuki strategies have probably stayed the same when playing vs. Seth. Just play the keep away game, approach like they are a shiny ponyta and show them what’s up.
You can’t play a good keep away game from Ibuki because she can non-EX slide to punish Sonic Boom from even full screen on reaction.
