You sure because when i do it people mash dp or grab, also when they block during the tanden is it because they were holding block before i did the move?
Why the hell would you do a jab into a medium after tanden? I usually just cl.hp xx srk/legs on hit if they’re too far for cr.hp.
oh right, but people grab me or dp out of the tanden after the tanden animation is complete…
Up close tanden is so advantageous on block that you get a free safe followup. Usually if they mash uppercut they’ll just get hit by your cr.lk and you get a free combo. Tanden is ONLY punishable on block at a very specific and far spacing. You get free button presses after cr.mk xx tanden on block from most any range.
You’re +19 up close on block. If there ever is a time where you can do whatever you want in SF, it’s after a tanden.
s.HP xx tanden s.HP xx tanden s.HP xx tanden can mindfuck people for days.
Until they decide to jump or SRK, but against idiots yeah it works pretty well…
hey Kiku, dunno if you’re aware of this focus backdash combo, but I didn’t see it in the list:
FA backdash, forward dash, LP SRK 1 rep, stomps. It’s timing and character specific, but gives better damage than anything else you could do that doesn’t cost meter + can be done mid-screen.
Actually I had never tried that. Looks spacing-specific but useful. I knew you could do FA3 -> taunt xx lp srk -> stomps in the corner though. Max style.
Haha nice I need to remember that next time I get stun. I’m sure you’re aware that if you land a level 3 FA and backdash you can still land a LP Tanden. Doesn’t seem to work with a level 2 FA though…
yeah it’s kind of tight to perform. I haven’t made a list of who it works on, nor do I know the exact time/space specifications of when to uppercut. Just letting the possibility be known.
If anyone can answer me a quick question, but what’s Seth best mid-screen punish with only 2 meters?
Depends on the character, how far you get pushed back, if the move is -3, -,4, -7, -10, -11+, if you want a reset or if you want to push them into the corner, etc…
Generally, it’s cr.HP xx EX Engine, cr.HP xx LP DP (x1), Stomp (x3), Dive kick…
sometimes it’s LP Tanden, cst.MP, cst.HP xx FADC forward, cst.HP xx HP DP / HK Legs (sometimes you can even do cr.HP instead of cst.HP but this is character and spacing specific on an already character specific combo)
other times it’s cr.MK xx HP Boom xx FADC forward, cst.HP xx HP DP / HK Legs
occasionally, all you can do is cr.MK xx MK Legs
there basically is not a best mid-screen punish without knowing what character you’re fighting and what move you blocked
Great post.
BTW, is there a list of characters on who the st.Strong, st.Fierce works on?
If there was a rep system, I would totally rep you.
Here, have a ‘Like’.
I believe Staying Free’s list is incomplete. IIRC s.MP, s.HP link works on 18 characters.
I have 16 on my list. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Av3rurkKxozfdGloTGxqd0RidkhFSG9ZdFpYbjRvNkE&hl=en_US#gid=0
cst.MP, cst.HP will work on some more characters but it depends if they’re crouching or not
Random hard learned note: cr.LP, cst.MP whiffs on Dhalsim when he is crouching
hmm on my list, Gen is on the side it works on, but I don’t have AE at the moment to double check. And don’t forget about Seth.
no reason to do cst.MP, cst.HP on Seth
also you are correct, it does indeed work on Gen, but it is a lot harder to do on him for some reason…plinking doesn’t seem to help
