Seth Combo Thread **Check first post for BnBs**

Excluding anything with nj.HP, yes.
But we could use some new ones.

Like these (bold ones are, as far as I know, previously unposted / unknown.) I’ve only used them on Ryu so far so some might be character specific. If a Tanden Engine is listed it’s usually only because it only worked if Ryu as right next to me.

(edit: Yeah, a lot of the cst.MP combos whiff on Blanka if he is crouching…seems like cr.LK, cr.LP, cst.MP is too far on some characters too. Although cr.LP, cst.MP works fine, and it isn’t like it’s hard to work with that for a hit confirm…then cst.MP, cst.HP doesn’t appear to work on Sagat…oh well, people can figure out what to do with these I guess. They all generally seem to work on Ryu and Akuma though.)

I deleted the last post, and the forum says I did, but my browser says I didn’t. I guess. Anyway, clst.MP as a hit confirm seems kind of useless since cst.HP will hit any time cst.MP will. Still a solid punish if it works against the opponent though. Anyway:

Generally not that great of a hit confirm because of the distance required (nearly point blank) but works well for hit confirming low in the corner off of a connected Hyakuretsukyaku or a mid-screen reset. So if the name isn’t on the list, maybe go for it.

After a Tandem Close standing MP links in to Close Standing hard punch, good for maxmizing damage without meter burn. Stand MP has a base of 75 damage, only 15 less than fierce.

After a tanden engine i found cr.lk, s.lp is an easy way to s.Hp, more then c.lk, c.lp, s.hp :slight_smile: Do you agree?

Standing Jab is +7 and Crouching is +6. It’s an easier link (4 frame instead of a 3 frame both are super easy), but I’d rather practice the link from a crouching normal or just do a fierce after tanden (it hit-confirms itself).

I’m tring to perform c.lp, s.hp, something special, but i’ve noticed for me (and my noob skill) is easier do c.lk, s.lp, s.hp.

I have just recently started playing Seth and I am trying to get his basic’s down. This one is just driving me crazy though:

cr.hp xx lp shoryuken ->j.d.mk x3 -> j.d.hk

I can nail it consistently in the corner but for some reason when I try at midscreen I am never able to follow up with the headstomps. I am not sure what I am doing wrong but by the time I am able to start jumping the opponent is already on the ground. Any tips would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

You need to cancel the 2nd hit of crouching fierce into SRK to do this midscreen. In the corner, you should be doing roundhouse Hyakuretsukyaku into stomps. The timing is actually pretty lenient. Try holding [uf] and doing stomps when you see Seth leave the ground to get the timing.

I learned recently, dunno if any of y’all are aware, that s.MP can combo into itself on certain characters AND can cancel into HK legs. It’s pretty easy to setup too. off of any crumple, use tandem engine, then the combo. the combo itself is tricky, but high damage, and no meter necessary.

I haven’t tested this on the full cast, in fact have only tried it on a couple characters with mixed results. Blanka is one character I remember this not working on. cheers.

Also I think if you miss the link, but you get s.MP to come out again, it’ll most likely be his far s.MP meaning you CAN’T cancel into legs, so it’s a bit safer to fuck up over other combos ending with legs.

not only that, but you can link s.hp into whatever after a tandem engine for even more damage. this will work only on certain characters afaik. Staying Free has posted a list in this thread on which characters it works or not.

I can’t seem to land :d::hp:, :dp::lp:, :d::mk:x3, :d::hk: on Cody. The stomps don’t connect; he seems to fall too fast. Am I screwing up somewhere?

On Ryu: cr.lk xx cr.lp -> s.hp xx EX SB -> U1: 366 damage, 1 bar, ultra setup afterwards

crossup j.hk, s.hp xx EX SB -> U1: 484 damage (!), 1 bar, ultra setup

I cleaned up the first post a bit. I think listing the damage really isn’t that important nowadays. Please offer feedback/call me a retard if you don’t like what I’ve done with it.

You should list Tanden -> Close Roundhouse -> Close Fierce as a character specific combo. It only works on Seth IIRC, but the damage boost is huge from the Standing Strong link.

Also, Tanden -> Close Roundhouse -> Close Fierce xx Fierce SRK xx FADC forward -> EX Tanden -> Close Roundhouse -> Close Fierce xx Roundhouse Hyakurestukyaku -> U2 is Seth’s most damaging combo IIRC. It only works against Seth, and it does 586 damage 841 stun.

Wouldn’t tanden, s.hk s.hp sb fadc s.hk s.hp fadc s.hk s.hp xx hk legs -> stomps do more damage? I’m pretty sure that stuns too somewhere in there.

Also I know that sometimes I used cl.hp and sometimes s.hp. I’ll try to make it cl.hp everywhere probably.

Have you done that combo? I keep getting pushed out of range for the Fierce after the second or third Roundhouse in either corner. I’ll keep trying it though.
