Maybe it’s not like MvC2 cuz MvC2 was broke as hell and you could only play like 5 characters. Just a thought…?
You’re all silly. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is a bunch of cartoon characters flailing around with laser effects festooning the screen while members of the audience avidly discuss ice cream and potato chips. Japanese people culturally do not have the same close cultural relationship with lasers, ice cream, and potato chips as we Americans do, and their cartoons are all about half-human, half-animal characters defecating on each other’s chests while singing songs about dinosaurs and living big life filled with congenial happiness. Of course they don’t get Marvel the way we get it.
If that was the point of your thread then I’ll fix the title to reflect that. As for if you are hating, notice I didn’t call you out specifically. However my point still stands. Where did anyone say this was going to be an official replacement for MvC2? Just because Evo is moving to games from this end of the millenium? Did you honestly think that Capcom didn’t make this game MvC3 to allow the Japanese Vs series players a chance to shine? You know, the people they don’t go ask when they put a game together?
Also “doujin game engines” is a pretty broad statement, and also pretty wrong if you really think about it. What makes a game have a “doujin game engine”? The fact that it isn’t a “marvel engine”?
At any rate you got people to discuss it.
I play GG competitively and I have played this game. TvC is nothing like GG/MB/AH at all. And yes, I have played both Marvels and I would say its more driven towards them instead of GG.
There are only 2 new system changes that applies to GG to help better the game, not to destroy whatever system it had in the first place. Progression is in play. First off, Mega Crush = Burst in GG. It is used to stop broken shit (such as infinites that are a part of Marvel society) from happening at a price by blowing away the opponent while you are getting hit. Now by what I know, MvC2 came out in '00 or '99 right? Bursting was introduced in GGX2 which was released in '02 or '01. You can see that after '02, most fighting games (mostly doujins and other anime type games) has had use of the burst action or something like it.
This is the first Vs. game after MvC2 am I right? Its easy to see that JP wasnt going to use the same engine as before, that’s not progression to me. That’s just slapping '99 style onto a '09 game. But most of the system is still stable which is what I like since I always liked to play Marvel but I wasnt going to play the same 3 characters to make top 8 or whatever. Plus, I’d get raped.
This also goes for Baroque which is the same as roman cancelling in GG which allows a new set of custom combos. So to answer your original question AsianMike, yes I believe that they will change over to doujin type systems but I dont think they do a complete overhaul of the system. I think that TvC’s system is more on the Vs. game side than GG. I mean the combos, launchers, the tag in system, its all the same to be but has been altered with just a few minor adjustments. Its for the better.
And yes, I am playing TvC hardcore not because of it having GG related actions. That’s just stupid. Im playing it because its a good game and I’ve always wanted to play a Vs. game from day 1.
Wait
Where are people getting the idea that there will be a Marvel vs Capcom 3?
i’d say TVC is made of sugar, spice and everything nice.
the only thing i hate about TVC is it being only on the wii.
that’s like a bad april fools joke…
^^You forgot universal air dashing…
Damn I did lol but its so much into the community that we’re in now that I forgot about it.
I’m a simple minded 3S player.
You’re welcome. But you know what kind of loud-mouthed players I’m talking about, and they end up making a lot of people look bad.
tVC is a completly new game, I wouldn’t even call it a new vs game. Even the basics, gameplay, gamespeed doesnt play like a vs game. Plus it falls more onto the MB,rivalschools, ac, and gg way way over vs games.
Just cause it has a tag and assist dont means it’s vs style, don’t fail realize that other titles have tag and assist also.
in the end its just a new game with new gameplay. i wouldnt call it a sequel to anything really especially to Vs. titles
It doesn’t really feel like a doujin game to me. It kinda feels more like XSF/MSF.
Either way, the engine feels pretty polished. I don’t mind the burst system at all. Infinities don’t = fun to me.
I wish more characters had aerial supers though.
Japan like Marvel comics?
Quick question, is it really a bad thing to move away from the MvC2 engine? MvC2 was broken in a lot of ways, and I can see how TvC is trying to fix that.
There’s no reason to “move away” if the game still gets play. It’s one of the most popular games in the tourney circuit right now.
IMO, the only time to move on is when the new title is superior in every way, popularitly, playability, all aspects. Right now TvC isn’t “better”, so they can co-exist.
I thought the OPs question was about the artwork? He’s wondering why they went with a more anime look and is it so they can make some doujins out of it?
lol no
lol oh :wgrin:
lol. this post needs more love.
Except the fact mega crush came from Pocket Fighter and move cancels were mainly in SNK games. But alright.
