Does the 40.00 for Black Ops cover the team…or is it 40.00 per player for a total of 160 for the team?
@JayAlanCarter - We are unfortunately not going to have NBA 2k11 an official tournament game. However, this does not mean we cannot play it as a “Side Tournament”. If you would like to help setup that event, we can promote that we will run an NBA 2k11 side tournament on Sat. or Sun.
@Testsubject0109 - The cost is $10 per player + the $60 venue fee for the team. So $100 is the total cost per team to get in. If you wait until day of, the venue fee jumps to $80, in which case the total cost would be $120. Pre-reg ends Aug 31.
We just raised the bonus pots BTW!
$2,000 in bonus pots will be paid out! Bonus pots will spread across the top 8 players/teams (poker style). 100% of tournament entrance fee’s will also go to the top 8.

All I know is, everybody better enter the mystery tournament.
I dont know what this means, and neither do you, but I’m sayin’ it…!
The mystery game tournament will feature all one-on-one games with direct player interaction of some kinda and be very mutli-genre. Fighters, Shooters, Sports players… everyone enter Mystery Tournament!
250 for mk9? i’m going. Just have to make sure I got the day off on sept 2nd for school.
Kiets the sooner you can let us know the Friday schedule the better. But I think I will request that afternoon off anyway regardless the mystery/auction/war seem way to much fun to miss. Unless stuff won’t start untill after 5. What’s the deal with the war format for a team tourney? I’m intrigued.
Also Kiets you picked another 3 day weekend to run a 3 day tourney which would be great but it starts Friday when people have Monday off.
Friday is 100% special events and team events. No singles tournaments for fighting games start until Saturday morning. This makes Friday optional, and lets you stay late Sunday due to the fact that you dont work on Monday.
Oh my goodness. This is going to be a huge blast. I cannot wait for this.
I just booked my plane tickets, the $42 Blanka will be back and I’m looking for redemption!
OMG the return of $42Blanka? I’m hype!
Me and my Halo team are in! So exactly how much is it for all charges minus hotel?
Check the first post for pricing information.
@MLG Clown - Glad to see you are going to make it! The cost is $10 per player, so $40 for the team and $60 for the team venue fee.
= $100 per team
Hotel rooms are $69 per night.
Remember, there is a $400 bonus pot that will get spread across the top 8. The $40 tourney entrance fee that each team will put down will also get spread across the top 8. Some cool prizes will also be given away to the top 3 teams.
This event is going to be awesome, I promise! We are working on adding some fun side games in the shooter area to make sure there are things to do during down time.
Help support the event, tell your friends
Also, no matter what genre you compete it, do yourself a favor and enter the mystery game tournament. Each time you meet a new opponent in the bracket, you’ll be playing a different game against them. These games can come from any genre, so long as two players are playing head to head! Top 8 gets paid, so be ready for anything!
Real talk, Super Mario Wii was more hype than SSF4 at UFGT7…if you don’t enter mystery, you are doing yourself a disservice
Want to find out what the TEAM WAR is all about? I spill the details on today’s episode of Wakeup SRK! http://shoryuken.com/2011/08/11/wakeup-srk-e067-latif-talks-evo-strategy/
The schedule for the Fighter side of the event is pretty much ready. I’ll release it later tonight, most likely. Just FYI - each of our fighting games has an entry cap. If you register at the door and we run out of slots in one of the games, you’ll unfortunately be turned away. Pre-register to avoid that risk, however small it may be, and save some cash.
Entry Caps - (Side tournaments for ST, Tekken, Vampire Savior, or whatever else, will not be run by our staff or capped)
Mystery – 128 Players
SSF4AE – 256 Players
MvC3 – 256 Players
MK9 – 128 Players
3SO – 64 Players
Wow Mystery isn’t gonna have slots for long, I predict.
Could you briefly summarize? I’ll give it a listen when I get the chance, but I’m pretty curious right now.
There will be two SSF4AE Team Wars at FxS! The first is Friday night. The cost of entry is $5, and you’ll enter alone. You will be randomly assigned to a team of players roughly 4-6 people in size. Each player is character locked.
-Each game will be played with 1 round, and the damage dealt to you by your opponent will carry over (to the nearest 25%, rounded up) to your next opponent.
-When a player loses a round, he is eliminated from the match (but he will return when his team advances to the next match, or in the losers bracket for their next match)
-A team is defeated when all of their players have been KO’ed.
-All team members have their health restored to 100% when meeting a new team in the tournament.
So, for instance, I am first as Cody for my team, and you are first with Blanka for your team. You beat me, but have under 25% life left. You’ll stay on the machine, and the next member of my team comes in with 100%, while you have to start handicapped down to 25%.
Hopefully you follow so far, because it gets crazier. Teams can earn powerups to play against their opponents. Each team starts with 1 “Handicap Bomb” and 1 “Snapback”. Here is a list of powerups and how you get them.
-Handicap Bomb (Earn an additional bomb by defeating an opponent with an Ultra Combo Finish) - Spend one Bomb to reduce an opponent’s life by 25% before the match even starts. You CAN play multiple bombs on the same opponent. You CANNOT reduce an opponent’s handicap below 25%. (So, a maximum of 3 bombs on a fresh opponent).
-Snapback (Earn an additional snapback by defeating an opponent with a Throw finish) - Use a snapback before a match begins to choose which player of the opposing team you wish to fight next. If you have 25, 50, or 75% life remaining when you get snapped out, that still carries over into your next fight, whenever that ends up happening.
-Revive (Earn a revive by finishing an opponent with chip damage) - Use a revive to bring a KO’ed member of your team back into the action at 25%. This is essentially the opposite of a Handicap Bomb.
Additional rules -
-Powerups carry throughout the tournament. You only start with one Bomb and one Snapback, and whatever you have left carries over to your next match in the bracket. If you are eliminated from the tournament (lose in the losers bracket) and you had powerups remaining, the team that defeated you will steal them for their own use. (our comeback mechanic!)
-Landing a Super Combo finish will get you one of each power up (a bomb, a snap, and a revive). This is highly unlikely in a single round format.
-Finishing someone with a grab ultra does NOT count as an Ultra + Throw finish. It will count as one or the other, your choice, so you can take a Snapback or a Bomb for your team.
-Teams can send their players up in any order, and can choose in response to the other team if they wish. The first player on each team will be double blind, however.
-We encourage you to talk with and coach your team. Try to make some new friends with the people you get paired with!
-The winning team takes the entire cash pot to split between themselves and…
…So, I said earlier that there would be a second team war. Well, the winning team (and some or all of the 2nd place team) will become captains in the second team war (this takes place Saturday night). Entry will again be $5, and the captains will take turns choosing from each of the individual entries playground-style. We tested this format a bit this week and it is so damn fun! Please encourage everyone, even people who don’t main SF4, to play in these events! Questions?
