Memory Boss.

Summary

Game is quickly nosediving into frustration territory over fun. I don’t understand how I’m supposed to learn to fight half the shit when it one shots the fuck out of you. I’m at the boss of the memory and this isn’t fun. It just feels fucking dumb. Multiple people and a huge fucking boss with a massive weapon that cleaves you in half but he doesn’t hurt anyone around him. 3 of these dudes have shields I can only seem to remove with this slow as fuck axe.

It’s like game wants to be slow paced and methodical but throws fast paced situations at you.

I’m also pissed cuz I got pinned against a rock and there was nothing I could do. That’s more my fault then anything but I’m not really sure what I’m supposed to when there 5 or 6 of these guys on the field. Some of em hiding in the house apperantly, thought i got everyone but nope.

I’m all for a hard as fuck games but I sure would like to be able to see what the boss can even do before it pounds me into a fine mist.

I fucking hate this forum software. I tried. Sorry.

@Radiantsilvergun3 use the details tag if the spoiler tag is broken

Are you doing the boss fight against the drunkard I take it?

For that boss, you don’t have to enter from the front. You can go around the sides and pick a bunch if em off one by one. When there’s only a few left you can talk to that NPC to help split aggro. Then just learn the boss fight. You can even just hung ho it, have the dude help you and burst down all the adds ASAP. You should be able to clear them before the NPC dies, then you can focus on the boss

Wow that’s even better then blur spoilers option. Why is that not just the spoiler tag function? Fuck it never mind.

Anyway yes Drunkard asshole dude.

Summary

I finally got him alone and things went a little bit better but not by much. Least I got so see some of what he can do this time. Took 5 tries to get to this point. I found the Flame Tool, didn’t help much with him tho. Axe is too slow and he laughs the shurikans off. Game wants you to parry a lot but everyone holds on their wind up so fucking much, and a lot of these animations are fucking weird to look at. I had to guess on a few of his swings because he winds up FOREVER, and the animations on them are kinda odd looking can’t really tell what he is doing.

The wind up on everything tho is really annoying. It makes parrying, deflecting whatever the fuck they want to call it this time, a shit load harder then it would be if they just attacked liked normal fucking enemies. They started doing this kind of shit in Souls to throw off dodge rollers and people relying on the parry system. I didn’t really enjoy it there but it could be dealt with for the most part. Its so intrinsic to the combat here tho that its just frustrating the ever loving fuck out of me. Just swing the fucking weapon dont hold it behind you for 100 years. Also the tracking in this game makes Souls tracking look like a fucking joke.

Yea I tried the gung ho burst em down shit, npc gets clobbered to death by the boss in no time flat. Closest I’ve gotten to keeping him alive is killing the last add the moment he dies to. I don’t think that’s going to be my winning strategy personally. I had more luck clearing the guys on the left side and then goinf in with the npc. Guess I need to check out the right side and see if you can sneak in there and clear anyone put that way to.

I mean I get stuck on bosses don’t get me wrong wrong but even after plugging at an for an hour and a half I usually feel like I made some kind of progress on defeating said boss. Just feels like a crap shoot here, and then getting back to the boss and it all set up again is a fucking chore just so I can die in 30 seconds again.

Have you tried the firecrackers? They don’t do damage but they are amazing for buying time or getting a free charge attack in

Yea despite looking what feels like everywhere I havent found those yet.

I used hit and run tactics against the drunkard.

drunkard strats

I went around the corridor on the side to pick off the enemies near there. I drew in the rest of the enemies by the pond to finish them one by one. Once they were all dead I aggro the boss near the pond until he starts back away. I ran all the way to the other side of the pond to remove the aggro and went back to can land an easy backstab. With one more bar to go I talked with the NPC and went to town on him.

Now I’m having boss problems of my own. Blazing Bull can eat a dick right now.

Yea that’s basically how I have been doing every semi tough fight.

Feels super fucking cheesy.

Summary

There’s a merchant in Ashina Outskirts very near those two NPCs

Fistful of Ash is a great alternative too. He doesn’t throw it far, so you need to be close but buys time and is easy to find.
