I think that might be my favorite fight in the game. He was so much fun to learn and grind out, the setting was epic, and the rush that came with defeating him was unmatched by the other bosses. Truly masterful design.
Genichiro is such a great fight because he comes at a time in the game where you essentially need to know all the mechanics to beat him. He’s straight up a mechanics check with the game asking you if you know how to play. It only gets harder from there, but overall he’s my favorite fight in the game. Last boss probably right after him.
Fuuuuuck that snake on the bridge.
I’m at the Guardian Ape, or I can go in a cave where the giant snake is. This weekend is going to be one hell of a fight either way.
You got it buddy. Just parry your way to happiness
I beat the Guardian Ape on my second attempt, and the snake in the cave turned out to be pretty easy once the old lady told me to turn the monkey into a puppet. I guess I built the Ape encounter up to be harder, but it actually wasn’t that bad at all. Now I’m at Snake Eyes v.2. Gonna figure out a way to get a stealth attack and then beat that ass tonight.
I had a hard time with the Ape personally, but I still had some bad habits from other games. He beat those habits right out of me lol
I think the toughest fight for me so far was the one spear dude on the steps leading up to the room where you first meet Kuro, in the Ashina Reservoir area. That guy took me quite a few tries, and got me pretty frustrated. But I feel like things clicked a bit more after I beat him.
That guy beat my ass for a while. He will teach you to respect spears and to dodge into thrusts, no doubt.
Ape gave me a bit of trouble but not too much. Hardest fights in the game for me where Snake Eyes and the Ghost a bit later with the Shamizen (sp?).
Yeah he’s infamously tough for new players
Snake Eyes is such bullshit. I feel no shame in cheesing that one.
Yea I agree, there’s some weird as fuck shinangans going on with his grab and spear in general.
TWO fucking apes?!
Two DEAD fucking apes
Haha yea fuck that nonsense.
I fucked’em up!
I have a question about the Vault Over skill. It says you can get a deathblow on a posture broken enemy by jumping over them… But you can get the deathblow anyway, so what’s the point? I’ve held off on this skill, but I’m wondering of there’s an advantage and I’m just missing it? Skill points are still slow to come by so I don’t know if I should save up for something else (like getting more $$ and items from enemies).
It allows you to use ninjitsu on an enemy you didn’t sneak up on, actually very handy with bloodsmoke.
Oh word? I’ve hardly used the ninjitsu stuff. I think I just got the one that gives you a blood sword from killing the headless ape again, so I have 3 of them now. Man, there are so many ways to battle in this game, it’s incredible. So many different skills and skill trees, prosthetics, prosthetic upgrades. I feel like I’m pretty far in the game and yet barely scratched the surface.
Those 3 are all of em. Bloodsmoke and the Puppeteer ones are the most generally useful I think
