Seismo xx Seismo - Performance Questions

I found my consistency went from like 40% to 90% when I changed from

Seismo xx f, d, df, u +p

To

Seismo xx d, u tiny pause f, d, df +P

The timing is really simple, but a little deceptive at first… you input the jump just before Viper hits the ground, then quickly dp motion as the explosion comes up. this also works to increase the consistency of your seismo xx knuckles and burning kicks too. I can get them both out now around 90%.

I will get a vid up on youtube soom showing the command, this should helpwith some of the timing issues.

Another method to work on the timing is to train yourself up on the focus cancel after a seismo. Seismo xx sjc Focus xx dash. If you do it right, you’ll get a focus dash cancel and burn no meter. this small window where the focus takes place is also where you would input your second seismo or knukckle or whatever for your seismo block chains etc.

Just get to training mode and commit it to muscle memory. Then you can do all sorts of crazyness like (gulp) 4 seismos in a row then a EX.thunder knuckle lol.

GOGO training mode!

yes finally got the timing down. ty kunai for the help.

I made an account just now to say thanks to all the help. Ive been wondering how the hell you pull off these seismo attacks one after another. Now I can sleep! hah. This site is pretty informative. I’ll be stickin’ around and reading up for sure. Nvm no sleep for me =)

It helped me out tons. I’m applying MM’s general idea to the rest of Viper’s techniques for jc/hjc and it’s working out great.

Seriously, why did they ever get rid of the search function? So useful.

Not bad a method either Hydro. Me personally wouldn’t use it for all of Viper’s moves HJC moves but definitely good stuff for things i can’t get down using my other method. Nice post.

Geezer: Yeah, I can seismo xx seismo with any method, but usually the first is seismo d, u, f, d, df +p then I break out into either the same again or df, df, u + P or f, d, df, uf + P to continue the string.

Kyrojenix has a good vid on youtube showing six seismos in a row here:

shows: lp lp mp mp hp hp in succession. I haven’t tried six like this before, but I can imagine it’d be the best way to practice.

Also, I should add you can only do five ex.seismo sjc ex.seismo done the same way, before getting pushed back to far for the fifth to connect. Either that or my math is bung lol. I have found it slighly easier going into ex.seismo from a normal seismo than the other way around, as the window to sjc on an ex.seismo is a lot tighter than the standard version.

So we have four methods for seismo chains:

Seismo xx df, df, u+ P

Seismo xx f, d, df, u + P (or uf +P)

Seismo xx u, d, f, d, df + P

Seismo xx df, u, df + P (timing on this one is very strange, but I’ve definitely done it this way a lot, it’s usually the last one in the chain for me)

I’d be keen to hear what method Kryojenix used on the youtube vid tho

Like many others I bow down for this one MagnetoManiac. This will surely help me execute Seismo xx Seismo cause I havn’t been able to wrap my head around how to time it all. Training mode here I come!

For me it works best if I do seismo, watch for the explosion, then input 62369 very fast, late into the animation. For burning kicks I apply the same technique, watch for the explosion then quickly input 2147 late into the animation, almost before it won’t work anymore.

Thanks to Kryojenix for the tip. He recommended it and now I am now officially using this method:

Seismo xx QCB, uf + p! (x n)

for my seismo chains. I don’t know how Kyro found it out, but it works, boy it works, and it makes them easy as pie to get out in a real match (even slightly laggy ones for some reason) Seems like you should be getting thunderknuckles but pop another seismo comes out instead! AMAZING

I really recommend everyone try this method, if you already know when you should be inputting your seismo’s for a chain, then substitute for this QCB, uf +P method next time and you’ll be surprised. You can of course repeat for multiple strings if you so wish.

Awesome. Actually makes it seem really simple now.

Nice! I’ll have to give it a shot next chance I get. I’ve been having a helluva time with this one.

Sounds good. I’ve been doing dp + p, 33[8,9] + p, and have a 60% success rate. I’ll test this new one to see how it fares.

thanks for the tips guy, helped a lot w/ learning this, i can now do it just fine.
i actually did 5 in a row

also hydro, tried ur way, that works too…surprisingly enough, great tip!

I have been messing around with this input and i appear to get a Thunder Knuckle out of it every time. However if i start with df, this works every time so i think you may be subconciously hitting df .

I think its a utilization of the srk shortcut given you end with a df, then start the next seismo with a df, giving you the next seismo and the roll to back then uf gives the sjc.

Great find by kryo tho, this gives me a way to cancel into both TK and Seismo easily.

Is it really :qcb::uf:? Seems counterintuitive for it to end in :uf: when it’s supposed to end in :df:

You need to SJC it, so you need some form of an up motion for it to occur. If you ended in df you would just stand there and do nothing.

I am still not very consistant with this. I’ve been watching the explosion around viper, which helps, but 75% of the time viper just super jump cancels the seismo. I do the df, df, u+p motion - I have a fightstick.

p.s. I still lose 90% of the time online using her.

I find that QCB, FU + P works the best. I usually just wait for her fists to hit the ground as opposed to the smoke.

I lose quite a bit too. I know the tricks. but I need to work on my mind games, which is essential with Viper. Also learn to BLOCK and use your backdashes. You can’t just go crazy with her. I know this first hand lol.

does no one else do it like this? i thought this is how everyone did it…

i never tried doing it the other way… but this seems like the easiest

i still don’t understand how :df: :df: :ub: :mp: results in a seismo

The new shortcut motion in SFIV: :df::df: = :dp:
