"Also, as you may know Seimitsu has taken away the price and has written something in japanese on the right side off these buttons:
*PS-14-GX
*PS-14-GXN
*PS-14-GXN-Clear
What it says basicly is that they do not sell them anymore. Odd, I thought, so I contacted them about the matter and got these answers:
Why do you not sell PS-14-GX, PS-14-GXN and PS-14-GXN-Clear?
Answer: Because a maker of microswitch stopped production.
Do you have anymore in stock off these buttons?
Answer: There is no stock.
Are you getting new buttons that is not available on your webpage?
Answer: We have no new buttons.
So now you all know it is officially the end off these buttons :(.
I have not gotten a reply from Sanwa yet about their RG-buttons (similar to Seimitsu PS-14-GX) so I can not say if they still sell it or not, but hopefully we will know soon…"
Wouldn’t it be more correct to say that they still make those buttons but they just come with standard switches? I mean the thread title is way too alarmistic, some people could have a heart attack…
I don’t know, I’ve never seen them. But honestly I fail to see how this can be bad news. It would be a good habit to buy, along with buttons, spare switches since both Sanwa and Seimitsu catalogs list them separately and you can easily provide them. The price of standard Seimitsu switches is (iirc) 60-70 yens as against 280 of the bigger switch now out of production. I would much prefer to get 4 spare standard switches instead of one that is also likely to give installation problems on slimline boxes.
hmmm interesting news, for a second there I thought you were saying ALL buttons which was news to me!
those switches are made by Omron, part number I dont have readily available but over the years I have collected many omron catalogs so if I see it (needle in haystack). but if its discontinued then you will have to rely soley on old stock thats floating around distributors.
Chances are that Sanwa still makes the RG`s because they do not look 100% identical to the GX-ones (“G1” is written a little bit thicker than on GX): http://akihabarashop.com/misc/GXRG.JPG
What do you guys think?

I can get anything from Sanwa and Seimitsu but yeah I will update the shop with switches also so people know what to get.
It is true that they are more expensive but it is sad to see them out off production, people like different parts and many people liked them and it is always nice to have a good selection.
Matarick
They will rocket in price, I just know it.
Two different manufacturers making physically identical switches with the same marking is impossible. The little differences like the thickness of the marking or the secondary code probably mean they have been produced at different times and or/on different machines. Don’t they bear any other markings/logos, perhaps visible only once they’re removed from the buttons?
Anyway, I’ve never seen them on Omron’s (nor Matsushita’s) catalogs.
I was just about to put up a bunch of Sanwa RG’s and Seimitsu RG’s up for sale on the trading post. I was going to sell these because I can’t stand the feel of RG’s compared to the standard action pushbutton. I guess I’ll wait and sell these when they become super rare like the Flash.
Probably they were custom made for Sanwa and Seimitsu which would explain why they weren’t on the Omron catalogs (I would have seen them months or years ago). Probably they weren’t selling enough to justify manufacturing costs.
