So is that corner divekick at 0:44 just a fake cross-up or unblockable? Somebody get in the lab ASAP.

Fake crossup.
Although kyoku could have done foward throw > dash > crossup lk dive for an unblockable.
A sort of ok tactic, works much better when you can cross up the character with jumping medium kick or if the divekick is unblockable(It seems to be on Ibuki, don’t know who else because I’m an amateur player who doesn’t know his set-ups).

Hello guys!
Yeah, I guess Kyoku could have done a manually timed unblockable setup. Some of you may know about this setup but since I didn’t find any videos on youtube after finding it, I thought it would be good to record and upload the setup. It works on Ibuki, Akuma and Cody. So just in case here it is:

good stuff, just prooves how yang is a beast in the corner but, i just have a question:does the setups get messed up if they can change their wakeup timming ( delay their quick stand)?
I just ran it through training mode, and if I did it properly then yes, a delayed quick rise shouldn’t cause the divekick to whiff, but suddenly Ryu’s reversal shoryuken can hit. Early quick rise a delayed shoryuken only hits if you went a little early I believe.
Can they escape using Focus Attack backdash when they wake up ?
Ha, don’t know why I didn’t think to test with focuses… might have been a little sleepy when I made the video!
Anyway, you just revealed one of the biggest weakness to this corner approach, focusing makes it troubleseome for Yang as he’s usually the one to go into the corner. Fortunately it can still be a gamble on their part as Yang air resets if he immediately tries to poke out a focus backdash, he can combo if he delays the poke, for a focus forward dash you’d need to do the immediate poke(that is if they don’t have a ridiculous forward dash like Chun-li/Abel/Gouken), focus attack at least whiffs because of the side change. Alternatively you could go for an early dive kick as well to keep them in the corner and mess up any focus dash attempts, something like a mix-up you could say, though suddenly I realize I can’t do auto-pilot divekicks in the corner if the opponent figures it out ;_;.
With a few mixups this is something workable. Thanks !

Has anyone tried that before?
Would it be safe because of the multi hits? Can’t check right now because its pretty late. If I check before anyone posts ill update with info.
I just tested against Ryu, if timed properly it can only be blocked high cross-up, otherwise it can only be blocked high. Beats focus, beats backdash, beats reversals, trades with non-reversal DP, goes over super but gets hit mid-air by ultra.
After block a reversal super is blocked.
On Zangief I couldn’t get it to cross-up, maybe due to his larger hitbox or not doing it properly, reversal ultra worked on Yang even when I had a recorded up input for seconds after the rollkicks, crouching also caused only one shadow kick to hit probably putting Yang at a significant dis-advantage.
Analysis results: A pretty safe gimmick against Ryu and most likely other non-grappler characters, but really, it’s just that, a gimmick requiring super with little payoff because the only possible follow up is no-animation ultra 2, could still be good for match enders before your opponent figures it out I guess.
No problem Chang, I like to think even if I’m throwing out potentially bad ideas, at least I’m trying to think of potentially useful things, so I hope it works for you!
i made this for you guys <3
aw lame hold on

I’m trying not to facepalm but it’s impossible. Oh god, the level of ignorance displayed here is incredible.
edit: Lol the first actual fact he managed to say was at the 7 minute mark.

It’s odd how good Uryo’s Yang is since he doesn’t main him. He just does everything right. Hell I think he could well be one of the best Yang’s out there.
The second replay is from old AE. N-Monogatari was probably one of the best PSN Yang’s back then, not sure what he’s doing now…
oh. ok. i was fooled by the upload date. thx
Again posting a match because I wanted to ask something about it… Do I have to do that set-up after the non-animation U2 with what type of timing? When I tried it with two different timings I managed to turn it blockable on both sides.
Also is it an unblockable or just an ambiguous set-up?
I have a series I like to use that will stun or put them very close to stun
sorry it’s at the end of the round and also there’s music that’s pretty loud
it only works once or twice unless they don’t have a reversal or are bad or you are good but why are you using this character if you aren’t trying to style
also i’m pretty ashamed of all the stray normals but it was really laggy and high BP vegas get me antsy so i’m comfortable with what occurred
POONGKO!!!
