I have a bunch of import Saturn games I recently procured and I was surprised to see the US Saturn Virtua Stick being sold for $20-$30 brand new online, so I can buy two. For casual use, are these sticks ok? I really only plan to play shmups with it, and some casual XMvSF/MSH/VF gameplay.
Also, how is the ASCII stick?
The Saturn S pad is far superior to both sticks.
Even if you are thinking of modifying them, it is a terrible value. The amount of work required to install mechanical pushbuttons and a better lever is not worth anyone’s time.
The only retail Saturn sticks to look out for are the Sega HSS-0136 and the Hori Fighting Stick SS.
If you want to use a stick on Saturn, best go with Sega, Hori, or a custom with compatible PCB.
You forgot the HSS-0130. But that thing’s a beast on its own and not really for casual players.
