Sega Saturn controller PC/PS3(bootlegs?)

It’s probably just a pc controller that happens to be compatible with the PS3.

The button mapping on my controller (not the one in discussion, just one that I happen to own) was a little messed up. X was circle and Square was triangle, and vice versa. Other than that, everything was fine.

I was going to jump on this but i really have alot of faith in the upcoming SFIV pad

Any info about the Button Mapping on the PS3, Can someone find out…I would like to buy one before the price goes up

I got mine in today. I need to open it up and check the pcb stuff etc… I have an original one as well I’m going to compare it to.

Is there anything obvious I should take a look at?

If anyone wants high res pics of the controller/box here it is:

Works like a charm on PS3/PC. Tested with GGPO too, works fine.

how’s the feel of it? does it feel exactly like the original or does the d-pad/buttons feels cheap and unresponsive?

It feels exactly the same.

I have both in my hands and if I close my eyes I can’t tell the difference. I’ll open them up and take a look at them under the scope while at work tomorrow.

sounds about right

That’s awesome, dude! Thanks for the update.

What’s the button config on PS3?

[] - /\ - R1
X - O - R2

Hopefully?

With left shoulder L1 and right shoulder L2??? :bgrin:

Looks pretty legit. Good find man.

Markman - I want to know the Button Layout for the PS3…I hope it’s

[]-^-L1
X-O-R1

MarkMan, is the one you are talking about the one you bought from here or one of the ones from the eBay auctions?

Damn, that shit looks sweet. I would really like to get one or two to mess around with on the PS3 and PC.

I would like to know about the default button config for the PS3 as well though.

If it’s the real Sega usb pad then it should be…

X,Y,Z = Square, Triangle, L2
A,B,C = X, Circle, R2

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=159513

on my PS2 Saturn, the Street Fighter AC & my PS1 Stick it’s

[] ^ L1 = Jab, Strong, Fierce
X O R1 = Short, Forward, Roundhouse

That’s my Config on my Street Fighter Games…Plus I could play with that layout on my Xbox using the Magic Box Convertor…

Nice find, dude.

For the record, considering MARKMAN of all people says it feels the same as the original, does it even matter if it’s a ripoff? Sounds excellent to me!

I don’t why L2 & R2 are mapped on the Face Buttons

But MarkMan bought his off someone on SRK, not from EBay. So he probably does have the real thing. We don’t really know yet what we are getting but we will soon find out.

Whoooops, great reading/comprehension skills from me. :looney:

If you can get a picture of the inside, it would be great. I’m really interested to see how they made the board inside.

Here is the PCB from the eBay Saturn pad.

And here is a pic of my hacked original Saturn pad.

The eBay pads have no Sega markings on the PCB and the triggers have a little rubber pads that strike the microswitch where as the original pads do not.

Overall it’s a good controller, I can’t say for sure if it is a knockoff. It is very hard to tell the difference between the two. The only give away is that the rubber pads deaden the clicking sound of the triggers microswitchs.

Real or not I am happy with my purchase.
