@"Jasen Hicks"‌ any chance you can do a test print using these JPEGs, so I know if it comes out right on the printers you use?

@d3v‌ - The JPGs wont print like the PSD will. It’s better to go from the source file. I’ll do a single print to see how it comes out (which should be perfect) and let you know if there are any issues.

@d3v - You’re welcome to send the PSD directly to Jasen as he has already paid me for it. I would like the file too, if you don’t mind.

So what’s the status on the panels?

I got the artwork yesterday. I have 5 Noir and 5 Vewlix panels ready to get the art applied and shipped to their new homes. Goal is to get them out by Friday before I leave on Vacation.

Shop will get the ASTRO Layout this week for immediate production and shipment to me. They will start going out when I return from South Korea!

cool! cant wait till i get my astro panel…

The first panel prints are done… they look amazing! @d3v‌ did a fantastic job. I will have pictures of the first NOIR panels with their sexy new overlays tomorrow!!

Stoked!

Wiley, I also have the panel from Trugoy sitting in my living room. Ill put in the in the same box as your panel so you dont have to pay for the shipping!

He told me that he dropped it off today. Thank you for doing that.

Got Lindbergh? If not Dozer is unhappy!

Looks great.

Came out fantastic. I can’t wait to get mine.

Kind of unhappy you took out the “reproduction panel” disclaimer.

EDIT:
Also, is it just me, or are the holes for the stick off by a bit. It seems that the art around it is too high, which is bugging me because they line up perfectly in the template.

I noticed the same thing @d3v. I think it’s just the panel that is making it look like that. The panel is powder coated black and is thick.

Edit: Though I might be wrong.

An interesting phenomenon happens with vinyl graphics and the process to print, laminate, and cut.

The print gets 4 registration marks so that you can pull it from the printer for drying and laminating prior to cutting. These allow the printer to optically find reference points for setting up the geometry for the cuts. Sometimes if the print is just slightly off during travel in the registration process a cut may end up off because the geometry is set wrong. Add to it that the vinyl swells and shrinks during printing it can do so unevenly so it can throw things off a slight bit too.

When I print and cut I end up throwing things away because it ends up too far off where button lips won’t cover it or it’s significantly misaligned. I ended up trashing 3 overlays before I used these because of the things mentioned above.

What looks odd to me is the border around the joystick opening. I count the hexagons inside between the hole and the border and it seems off North to South with the north side having the wider spacing. Is this an optical illusion?

Its slightly biased to the south. Again, as I mentioned before, there is some slight skewing during the cuts.

I just rechecked the graphic in illustrator (the overlayed PSD and cutfile, cutfile = the template was based off of) and it looks like the joystick graphic is just slightly offset. Its a combined layer with the buttons, so it couldn’t have moved when I imported it into illustrator otherwise the overlay wouldn’t fit at all. I also double checked it in Photoshop proper on my Mac to see if it was slightly off there, and it is as well. I guess I didn’t really notice that when I printed it out.

Again, once the dust-washer is on, and the joystick mounted, you will never be able to tell. the JLF has a nice bit of play for mounting.

@d3V - mind checking the PSD on your end as well?

Holy crap, those panels look SICK. The black powder coat on the panel makes it look extra slick.

Makes me wish I had not started to invest in a couple of standalone Astro/Blast City control panels a few months back. (But I guess since my end goal is to own a Blast City, I guess it’s justified).

Great work there guys, @iNENDOi‌, @"Jasen Hicks"‌, @d3v‌ and anyone else involved!
