  • If Pablo or anyone could please let me know Brian’s last name and SRK handle, that would help.
  • Congrats to Rairu, for winning what I believe to be his first ever Marvel tournament.
  • Kyle forfeited against Mandel in Marvel. Quickest loser’s finals, ever.
  • It was nice to finally meet Sean Graham.
  • Bunkei finally played Marvel. Bout’ fucking time.
  • Contrary to expectations, Frank did not /godumb. This despite getting his first tournament point.
  • It was good to see Josh Ray for the first time in 6 months. Come out of your cave more, man.
  • Thanks to Josh Ray for paying his entry fee in quarters. A really classy move.
  • Congrats to zass for taking his 3rd consecutive ST tournament.
  • I heard there was controversy during the ST tournament. Sorry I missed the fisticuffs.
  • I was even more of a dick than usual. I didn’t know that was possible.
  • Playing CotA and War of the Gems brought a wave of nostalgia over me. It also reminded me why MvC2 is a good game. Despite criticism from its detractors, MvC2 remains far and away the most balanced and least broke of game of this series. Still, thanks to zass for giving us that chance to indulge in our lost youths.
  • Nate took the free CotA side tournament with Omega Red. He was followed by David with Psylocke, and Julien with Spiral.
  • Despite how Asian immigrants dominate national spelling bees, I got crushed in Scrabble. I guess I’m too black. After all, Zach won the second game, and Jason (a self proclaimed banana) took the first one.
  • I have rightfully reclaimed my title as the worst player in Seattle. Take that, David!
  • Sorry this post hasn’t been as witty as some of the other tournament summaries. I’m tired and angry.

Deezo’s Observations
-It’s bomb Sean P aka Graham the Man aka PsiANyd was in the house for the tourney. Representing that Blackheart/Magneto shit. At one point I even saw him using Blackheart/Magneto/Ken and he won! I dunno who that was against, but Ken pulled some heroics man. Wow.

-Evan beat my ass in the second set 4-1, after I won the first set 4-3. I thought I was on some fire shit too.

-No Row, JMar, Kuan, Rat, or Cody at this tourney.

-It seems Doughboy is gonna stop running the Marvel tourneys, so I dunno what’s gonna go down or who’s gonna end up running these. I suppose we’ll see.

like how come no one from seattle plays team seattle anymore. I bet 90% of the kids in Seattle can’t even tell me what’s team Seattle. And no, it’s not jmar, row and kuan dumbass.

My notes:

  • I was getting big leads all day long in casual and then goofing off and losing. I would like to applaud Kyle for almost having the biggest comeback ever: 1/2 life Psylocke against my 1/2 life Cable, full Megaman, full Tron, and yet I walked away with the win with only about 8 pixels of Tron left. Good god I need to finish shit.
  • Evan maintains his ability to be incredibly clutch. Match one he improvises a kill on Magnus + catch Tron in assist infinite on recovery from the stupid Sentinel Super Ball, and what was pretttty much a loss for him becomes another clutch win. While I think everybody is pretty good, Evan pulls out more stunning victories than anyone else around. That was stunning and great work. He deserved first.
  • I’m mad that Kyle got third. I’m mad that Kyle just walked away from Loser’s Finals without playing. I’m mad Brian got fourth. I clearly owned myself in my match against Kyle when I accidentally switch-glitched in Cable and took a 50% combo to open the round. THAT SUCKED. Live by the sword, die by the sword. Kyle and I are back and forth any ways, but good fucking god, I could not catch a break after…
  • … my comeback against Dann (who was better than I thought) was maybe my most stunning comeback ever. His 1/4 life Cable five bars + 1/2 life Sentinel against my 3/4 life Cable + 12 pixel Tron: he catches my Cable for three bars AHVB, my Cable drops, he chips further because my Cable is about to die (three pixels left), I alpha counter in Tron Just In Fucking Case I Get Really Lucky (plus it’s really incredibly safe-- except if they have bar…), he screws up and does GHVB, I super-jump, Lunch Rush to kill Cable, and then manage to pull out the win with maybe two Cable pixels left after he kills Tron. That was a really stunning match that I should have lost. =P Never underestimate the power of Tron’s alpha counter, I guess.

I felt nasty that day. Nothing was going right. I need to practice more.

On the plus side, if you turn off the background music, Hayato sounds really tight to play. His little Darth Maul lightsaber sounds are awesome.

Also on the plus side, I managed to destroy a bunch of Sentinels with Megaman’s rushdown. I’ve been working on that, so it was great to see those tactics pay off. Nothing’s better than watching people’s eyes bug out as Megaman just beats the shit out of Sentinel. :lol:

Mandel, I’m sorry to not have managed to meet you in loser’s finals.

COTA is the worst game ever and I almost had to ban that ugliness.
MSH is an awesome game. Nate is surprisingly good in that, I need to install my sticks still (I put up the posters Saturday), and good god I can’t remember anything in those oooooold games.

Sean’s Blackheart/Magneto/Ken match was against Kyle.

Yeah I was actually kinda surprised we didn’t play in this last tourney Zach. Now that I think about it, you’ve had a lot of comebacks/epic matches in these tourneys. I agree though, COTA is an awful game. I will play MSH enough to learn Spiderman.
