Season's Beatings: Redemption Results/Shoutouts

what was the prize pool and distribution?

Justin W - good job representing USA. Would’ve like to seen you in championship finals but damn.

“It’s not about the hate, it’s about the hype.” If you weren’t there, this shit was all hype in person - not just ssf4, but dat fucking marvel, arcade 3s and ST, guilty gear Finals, ect.

Please give our players some credit, Andre and the 5 vs 5 - these guys outplayed The Beast, simple as that. It doesn’t matter if you’re tired, it’s an all-day tournament with many professionals; if you’re not ready, you’re not ready and you probably get beat. You can either not come or deal with it - just like UFC and Boxing, some dude loses and says “oh I was sick or didn’t get the call until short notice”. It’s still a loss for them and they move on and get a rematch or whatever.

Look at this, daigo didn’t lose his spirit or get disheartened, he fucking wants more - how dope is that? Everyone should’ve enjoyed those matches because they brought not only daigo, but also momochi AND fucking gamerbee and we got to atleast see our best players take them on. This shit was awesome to watch and I gotta thank Ghaleon and Fugee for making it happen.

Anybody know who knocked out Wolfkrone? We were talking to him and wished him luck before he played KDZ. He won and then we didn’t see him play again. I was just wanting to know how one of our best midwest players finished.

What do you mean by saying he lost fair and square but then giving four reasons he was off his game??? Either he lost fair and square or he didn’t. It’s one or the other, if there are reasons he couldn’t play 100% then how is it fair and square? I don’t care which it is, but please be consistent. Did he lose fair and square (as in he was playing properly but he simply lost) or were there outside reasons why he couldn’t play normally? Also ‘choked’ means a person lost due to nerves, and you also mentioned that he choked, so do you mean he lost due to nerves?

Please be clear.

I money matched daigo and choked again 5-4 last pixel last round etc

probably won’t be a vid considering Daigo request no money matches to be recorded this time.

Also Filipino Champ thanking Daigo on stream for the free money. Two money matches won against Daigo.

A win is a win. The games where Daigo lost were hella close and exciting.

In final match vs Andre, Andre was leading 1 round to 0. Round 2: Daigo had literally 0 health left, Andre had around 40%, but Daigo made the comeback win. I felt it was like Evo 2004 all over again.

Then in round 3: Daigo had a 60 to 40 life lead, then Andre goes super aggressive and owns Daigo who couldn’t even fight back. The room went wild, good stuff.

After Daigo was eliminated by Marn in an epic series, I think that Daigo’s complete defeat is great for the SF4 scene. I can see Mago and other top JPN players with their blood boiling, finally taking North America seriously and burning to compete and get revenge.

Maybe we will see Mago compete in a tourney in the US someday.

This stream and tourney was hella exciting. Better than the UFC 120 or Starcraft 2 streams available this week-end. Big thanks to Fugee, Ghaleon and everyone at Team Spooky for excellent coverage.

This, I was pretty confused when I couldn’t find out who knocked him out. =/

Mad shout outs to Fugee and Ghaleon, and all the rest of the staff for SBR for giving the Midwest it’s finest annual major year after year. You guys just continue to deliver on an internationally impressive scale, and it’s right here in the midBESTcoast. Much love and respect fellas.

I’ll write a shoutouts list later, good times and good games everyone.

Why would they want revenge? Momochi did quite enough raping for all of Japan. I loved the finals after Justin lost where it was like Momochi said to Gamerbee, Yeah I think Im done raping this fool. Here you can have sloppy seconds.

Hi-

I was there managing most of the Daigo MM’s Saturday for about 4 hours before the exhibition. Filipino Champ was the only one during that time period who won any money from Daigo or Momochi.

The stipulations were as follows:
Daigo
2/3 $20
3/5 $50
ft5 $100
ft10 $500

Momochi
2/3 $20
3/5 $50
ft5 $100

Filipino champ was the only person to beat him 2/3.

Choko also played a few MMs 2/3 for $10 each.

Noone played a ft10
1-2 People played a ft5
5-6 played 3/5
at least 100 people played 2/3

At some points during the MMs the list was 13-15 people deep. Was a very interesting character lineup daigo was facing and even at one point faced 6-7 Abel’s in a row. Daigo’s translator was awesome throughout the event. We are looking for the complete list of players who played him and hopefully will find it soon and post it up! Thanks.

He lost to Sanford’s Sagat. Really close match.

BTW, did I leave my Tripod there? In a black Canvas bag, I believe it’s a Dynex. I’m not about to make a 3 hour trip to pick it up, but I’d like to know if it was found.

Eh not really.

Speaking of which, why are people hiding the blatant trolling that Daigo was doing to Mike Ross? He only really did it to him…that wasn’t “Daigo off his game”, that was Daigo disrespecting Mike Ross. Did something happen between them that would make Daigo do that? It’s very blatant.

There’s also such a thing as delusional people. ^

I don’t think he sandbagged Andre. I think he was getting frustrated by Andre getting away with some things actually. I don’t think he sandbagged Marn either, but he did assume that Marn wouldn’t be able to react to that fireball at the end. Against jsmaster, i need to rewatch that match…I don’t think he was sandbagging, and jsmaster played surprisingly good the entire tournament.

Daigo sandbagged Mike Ross until maybe the last 1/4 of Daigo’s health in the last match, and if you don’t think so, you are deluded.

Regarding the US vs Int. How was the gauntlet decided? Ie…Why did all of the Japanese/Intl players have to play 5 matches straight while the americans got to rotate?

Because that’s how the Americans have to play it when Japan is the home team. This time we were the hosts.

I am glad two international players took top 2. Not because I favor anyone but because the US scene deserves to eat some humble pie with their constant disrespect and getting hyped over NOTHING. Its like OMG Justin Wong just won a round against Momochi!!! Uhh does that really matter when Momochi got two rounds against Wong before that?

James Chen: Are you seeewious??!!

Justin Wong needs to stop using gimmicks like his Makoto which he only spent like what a day learning? Shit like that might work against your roommates but using them against pros? For shame Wong. I thought you learned your lesson after the last SB with your Fei.

You all complain about dickriding Asian players but dont realize that its the pros in the room who are putting Daigo/Gamerbee/Momochi on a higher pedestal than anyone else since they are the ones cheering like a schoolgirl after each round won against these international players. Theres a reason why these guys arent salty after each loss or gloating after each victory. They actually have class whereas the US players are stuck in gradeschool. Youre all in your 20s and early 30s. GROW THE FUCK UP and stop blowing your load after every match won.

To end I would like to quote Skisonic:
Wheres your USA chant now!?

Revealing post!
This is why, no matter what else happens, no matter all the peripheral BS, Daigo will continue to show up to these American tourneys. No doubt he wanted to win SB, but this is a pretty nice fallback. It’s America… it’s all about the $$$.

Relax. I’m from Canada, I did cheer for JSMaster, but the games I enjoyed the most were Sabin vs Gamerbee.

When people cheer after JWong wins a round vs Momochi, it’s like the soccer fans cheering for the local team after they just scored and made it 1-3. It’s just meant to encourage the local team. That’s how it’s like in every competition. They’re not thinking USA > Japan after each JWong win, it’s more like UR DOING GOOD KEEP IT UP

When Momochi does an insane combo everyone drops their jaws, even the north american viewers.

shit was crazy big ups to the marvel community as alway they keep that shit live .

Yeah I figured it was something like that…thanks!

The biggest cheer was when daigo did standing fierce into super from a full screen out against Art. That to me, showed appreciation of good play and all around good sportsmanship. I’m all for calling people out for being disrespectful, cursing etc etc when its unwarranted but in general I just think the crowd was excited and wanted to show it.
