I wonder has there been any talk in the Japanese fg community about what Arturo said about Daigo (calling him a “fucking bitch” on the stream etc.)? I’d think they’re pretty strict about that kind of disrespect.
I was in the 16th pool and by then I was just ready to head back to the room, relax and play casuals. Maybe do 10 pools on Sat. and the rest early on Sunday. Still pretty amazing you all were able to run it all on not a lot of stations. Some of the Karaoke rooms were fairly large. You could probably run some of the matches back there next year.
The 3s teams tourney was on my birthday. I’m glad I spent it there. Had a great time.

Sorry it’s taken me about a week to get these up, but I needed some time to recover from such a kickass event.
There were plenty of misadventures during my trip to Columbus, but this was definitely one of the best events I’ve ever been to. I returned home to a sore throat and a blister near my heel, both of which have (for the most part) passed as of this post.
It was great to meet so many East coast folks I’ve seen on the forums and videos. This trip was the farthest East I’ve been in a few years and it’s always such a treat for me.
I think James Chen and I were the only ST players who flew in from the West coast. Even with the lack of top West coast ST talent, the players who did compete still fought with ferocity and reminded me how fucking amazing Arcade ST is.
Thanks to the organizers and everyone involved for throwing a truly stellar event. Special thanks to RoyBisel for his persistence in getting me to attend ever since we met at MWC and all our interactions since then.
krost, Corrosive, Mars - It was great to meet up with you guys again to play the holy, truly, one-and-only Super Turbo. Keep playing and we’ll test ourselves again next time.
(GGPO heads) SteveTren and Grahf - I honestly kind of wish I studied SteveTren’s performance at SBO quals a bit more since he beat me down in ST teams and HDR, but it’s always great to meet strong players for the first time. The same goes for Grahf, who was fun to hang with during the weekend and his pal, HammerTime.
Koop - I think zerodotjander said it best, “Koop actually looks exactly like you’d think with his username.” Thanks a lot for the pep talks, yelling from the crowd, and overall being a cool person. Really, it means a lot to be able to just instantly mesh with people you only see on forums or on GGPO over something as “two-dimensional” as Super Turbo.

I know exactly what you mean. Arcade ST is just too beautiful for words. I wasn’t sure if it was you or FlashG who were yelling KKY and Gian when I was on the machine, but that shit put a smile on my face every time. And that OH JohnG! shit had me laughing so hard for no good reason. Good shit, man.
FlashG - Another player that made the old school presence felt. I heard that you’d been away for a while, but I’m glad that you were there to compete. Thanks for helping to make the tournament feel extra nostalgic, even though I’m not old school and have no arcade memories to wax. Hope to see you at more ST tournaments in the future. Shit, I hope there will be more ST tournaments in the future!
Steve H - I was kind of shocked to see the almighty Steve Harrison in-person for two reasons. 1) He’s actually around my height 2) He was quiet and reserved at first. I didn’t really see the loud, animated Steve H I’ve seen on Youtube. That is, until he pointed out the 50 Chicken McNugget box I was holding and freaked out, revealing himself. Such little memories like that really helped make the trip enjoyable for me.
Kajoq - Thanks for letting the ST crowd play on your Supergun on Saturday. Also, thanks for introducing Grahf and I to Vampire Savior with the help of MightyMar (God damn that mummy can rush down!).
Good shit to Canada for making it out, too. Willdestroya and Jimmy Bones were way more emotional than I imagined.
Sorry that more of the Midwest players (Wes, Jesse, NKI, fLoE), but RoyBisel held it down for the Midwest and will hold it down next time for the US.

Hahahah Yeah, that was me. I’ve seen you before at a few tournies iirc, but mainly at EVO this year and I remembered you played Sim fairly well, so I just started yelling out LETS GO GIAN/KKY! the whole time to hype it up. I couldn’t think of a DeeJay player, though. NEXT TIME!
Plus, I really love ST. I hate the fact that no one is playing it around here in NY. Only ST contingency left is me, FlashG, Jeron Grayson, NerdJosh, and Damdai. Nohoho fell off the face of the Earth. We miss him. BEST BLANKA! =( He would have loved to see and participate in this tourney, I’m sure. If ST got a real revival I’d drop Super pretty quick.
I was watching our match again. Small intricacies that I forgot about in that matchup and I challenged upkicks a few times. Good match all around though.
