Buk beat Steve in a small money match at Evo 2k7. Steve also lost to Gene Wong freeeeee that same day.
Steve doesn’t take losing very well. So basically, he’s had a personal goal of beating Buk and HAK since that day. He got a chance to play Buk at Final Round, and put him into losers’ 3-1. Buk came out of losers and raped Steve 8-2 in Grand Finals (which would have been Steve’s first major).
Incidentally, Steve also lost at Evo this year in a money match with HAK…
So, beating Buk this time, twice, was huge vindication for Steve. He takes this shit very personally when he loses, and beating Buk this time is like marking off one huge goal of his.
