Sunday.
Shoot ok I wont be here sunday. Good to see its being run despite brawl.
This right here is why you can’t ban the character. Speaking as a regular tournament director for the last six years, I would never consider removal of a character from a tournament simply because the players don’t like him/her as opposed to having actual game breaking abilities. The character is simply overpowered, but not to the point where competition is not possible, and thus is acceptable within the bounderies of competitive play.
Further to the point, the idea of banning a character within a week’s notice is ridiculous. It’s all well and good to throw it out there but barring DevilDigimon having a sign that says “please refer all complaints for the next 12 hours to Akazukin and make sure not to let him off the the hook easy because you wouldn’t have let me off” then he’s going to have a giant headache because he buckled to a single request on 6 days notice.
I would suggest simply not entering if you feel this Algol character will eliminate any chance of fair competition. If you don’t feel that strongly you’ll enter regardless. If you do feel that strongly then your small withdrawl will represent a greater good for the bigger tournament rather than forcing what will be many players to drop their primary character in a big tournament.
2 more preregs from dustloop:
Steve Scott “4gotten Kazama” STL GG
Rob “P.R.O” STL GG
edit: 1 more
Brent Gulasey “BrentQuest” OH GG
Algol sounds like Chun in 3S. She isn’t banned, right? Why should he?
(physical form)
Algol is a cheap BOSS, go figure. He SHOULD be banned.
Soul Calibur IV already off to a crappy start…
I didn’t even realize it was a tourney game. Oh well if any one happens to be playing VF5 casuals while I’m there (as if) I’ll join in. It’s not an official tourney game so pre regs inevitably are gonna be low for it. It’s kinda just word of mouth at that point and there’s been no real discussion about it. Especially considering most of the people who seriously play VF don’t post on this site.
Hey man, Devildigimon already made his stance. Discussion over, no drama.
Yall can stop messaging me now, I’m just the messanger who also played a bit of devil’s advocate so you all can make your own decisions based on both sides of the coin.

OK, everyone please DOUBLE CHECK that you are on the list on page 96. DOUBLE CHECK the people you’re traveling with are on here too if possible. We’re making brackets this week (I’m doing 3s Tuesday).
I don’t fear you…
Jasper Mangus - “CHOPA” - Kent, OH. - KOF98UM, GAROU, AH2
toss me into AH2 as well please.
So the staff is really barring last minute registration?
With all due respect, I’ll probably pass on co-directing 3S if I’ve got no actual say in how the brackets break down (short of them being in tournament maker so I can review them). I’d basically be a runner and I’d rather play or watch games than be a runner on a bracket I never had a say in. If you find you need help balancing if you’ve grouped people in the same region together like what happened with the GTASF last year I’ll be happy to lend a hand.
Jacob - “toiyet” - Pittsburgh, PA - Dat Mahvel crack and GG
Stefan - “clue 2025” Pittsburgh, PA - 3S
Nate - “guymelef” - Pittsburgh, PA - GG
Kyle - “stunedge” - Pittsburgh, PA - GG
Stephone - Pittsburgh, PA - mvc2 and Brawl
Can’t wait!
Yeah, whats the deal with on-site registration? will people be able to add new games or get out of games there, or just register from scratch filling in byes on the brackets (fully knowing that they were not regionally seeded_?
Yeah I need to know about this as well. There’s a strong chance the GTASF won’t come on the Sunday afternoon, and thus the people entering CvS2/ST/AH will need to get their registration money back for those games. If there’s no refunds regardless of entry then I’m respectfully pulling all GTASF players from Sunday events until the actual day of when the decision is made.
one prereg I think that got missed
Warren
Doren2k
Birmingham Alabama
GGAC, and SC4!
On-site reg is a necessity and I doubt the tournament would just NOT allow it. Pre reg just helps Fugee and Ghaleon (and Keits and friends) make early brackets. Having a general idea of how many participants is a great help. Drop outs and stragglers always occur.
But still, I think it should be addressed if it hasn’t been already.
I want to prereg for KOF 98 UM. Can you please add me?
SBIII has blown up to the point where to run well we need things pretty lined up on the day in order to finish everything.
The idea is to make a pretty set bracket in advance, and then on the day we can fill in spots left for byes/people who didn’t show. Sat/Sun we’ll do what we can for people, but people’ve had months to register, and even if you’re not sure you can make it there’s absolutely no reason not to post your name/game here. This time we can’t afford to start tourneys way late cos we’re fucking with the brackets for hours after posted start time.
So if you come on the day, we’ll try to fit you in based on byes/circumstances but you’ll be a much happier guy if you post in advance. It’s better to reg and not show than show up without a reg. Basically we can’t guarantee you a spot if you float in Sat morn.
Nagata, for the 3s brackets I can shoot you the prelim one Tues or Wed night, is that cool? Region is the main thing we sort by so I don’t think you’ll find many problems.
I don’t think it’ll be a problem giving people BACK money if, before a tourney starts, they want out of that event. Fugee can clarify this week cos he does the $$ but I don’t see any reason he’d say “no refunds” after Friday, as long as the tourney in question hasn’t actually started.
ed: Another reg:
Todd “Ryujin” – Columbus, OH - SB Brawl
Nagata it is kinda hard to balance yall out when like 30 of you came last year hehe. Im sure things will be fine though.
Fugee/Ghaleon. You guys are going to do computer program brakets or paper ones?
