Season Three Seeds/Results/General Ish Thread

Okay since Season Three will be starting on January 4th, I figured I would go ahead and make a thread. I will be running MvC2 again and Nate will be running ST this time around. I believe he plans on running ST at 9. I’ll be starting Marvel around 10-11 pm to give stragglers a chance to enter. I’m pretty sure there’s interest in VF tourneys, I assume it’s just finding out who’s planning on running them (Frank?).

Marvel will have a $5 entry fee, and will have a 70/20/10 split. I’m assuming ST will continue to have a $1 entry fee and a 70/20/10 split.

Point system will remain the same, but for reference’s sake…

1st-10 pts
2nd-7 pts
3rd-5 pts
4th-3 pts
5ths-1 pt each

So since the Season has ended, I personally am planning on using the top four from the point standings as the seeds at NWM for Marvel. I’m not too sure how other tournament directors are thinking of seeding their respective tourneys. But this is what the Marvel seeds would be at NWM.

As I said in the latest results thread, congratulations to all the top placers this season. I personally saw a lot of improvement from a lot of people, myself included. Very encouraging, and I felt like this was a good season of gaming despite my Marvel nastiness hahah. Competition can be gratifying yet frustrating so it’s good that so many people continued to play despite not gaining very many points. Hopefully this season helped people out in preparation for NWM.

I just wanna throw it out there that Mikado style is tight shit. If we have a get-together where the ST turnout isn’t that high, would it affect the rankings too much to do that more?

What about just having casual Mikado tournaments after the main tournament?

Although I wouldn’t mind doing them for the main tournament either, I’d just have to bust out my hot fiya Roo

That’d be cool too. To be honest I mostly enter ST 'cause it’s a dollar. I prefer casual play.

I actually like the idea of having Mikado style tourneys for Season Three, although I wouldn’t be opposed to normal style tourneys for ST.

I think it should be normal double elim at ranked matches, and Mikado for honors…

I’m really motivated about Season three, I feel like I can mentally get over my “slump” I had at the end of season 2 if the slate is clean. I’m gonna stick with balrog and just blindly rush and throw and hope for the best. :karate:

It would be awesome if we might be able to push ST back a bit for people who live far away like us MV guys, I’m training super hard to place high in the coming season and I hate it when I miss a tourney because they usually start so early, lol.

wtf is a mikado? And yes I would like to bring in VF5 as a tourney game for season 3. Is there anyone that would like to step up and run this bad boy?
