Ok, cool. I just wasn’t sure.
E3 is the video game convention (Electronic Entertainment Expo). I’m not that ignorant. lol

…you need to have to be part of the industry to go to E3.

Thanks for this thread guys. It’s wonderful for people that never made it to the con. i.e. Me
This technically isn’t by an Udon guy, but it IS a sketch of Dante by Ikeno
To hear my story of meeting and greeting the legendary artist known as Ikeno, check the SDCC recap thread.
Shinkiro Karin sketch and Ikeno Dante sketch. OWNAGE!!!
Is Gala one of the people who worked on Exalted?
Udoneko,
Any way those of us who couldn’t attend can get in on this? I would gladly pay for sketches… Otherwise, maybe next year…
A few days later and no scans ;; … crank up that scanner and lets see them ^^!
which reminds me gotta scan the rest of mine as well… but I have so many other things (non udon) to scan though ^_^;
Here’s something to tell ya, bring LOTS of money…and a map is helpful too, it took me til saturday to find the Udon and CAPCOM booths
I know this is disgustingly late – blame work for keeping me preoccupied until the day before I leave for Wizard World Chicago. So here are the sketches I got.
First one was from Ikeno. I asked for Ryu, and to my surprise, he asked, ‘Younger or older?’ Nobody had been offered a choice before. I chose the older one, and this is what I got. I was well pleased.
Shinkiro was next – but which character to ask for? After a moment’s thought, I asked if he’d draw Gouken. He paused, scratched his head, then mumbled something in Japanese that sounded like, ‘I’ve never drawn Gouken before.’ I had to hold up one of the SF TPBs for him to use as reference. After a few minutes of sketching and asking Ikeno the odd question about this or that shape (Ikeno had received a Gouken request the day before and had had similar trouble), I was given this, much to Alvin’s vocalized envy; he liked it so much that I let him take a few pictures of it.
There was one character I wanted to ask Ikeno for, but was hesitant to do so after such a busy convention. I asked the Capcom reps if it would be okay and they said to wait until the dealers’ floor was clear of non-exhibitors before putting forth my request. Finally I got the chance to ask; I half-expected him to say no, but he didn’t. Instead he asked me once more which version of the character I wanted, then unpacked his pencils and sat down to sketch on my book’s dust cover. The Udon artists clustered around him, occasionally commenting in appreciation (‘Omg, he’s going crazy on the detail!’) and despair (‘Omg, I’ll never draw again!’). He was finished within ten minutes, and I made certain to thank him profusely for going out of his way to do it at the end of the convention. What did I ask for? The only other character I’d wanted as badly as the others: Dante Sparda a la Devil May Cry 3.
My friends all hate me. :bgrin:
I wouldn’t worry about being late with the post, at least people are adding new things to this one and not that lame ass “Duurr is Dudely black? Durrr” thread.
Nice sketches, too.
Have fun in Chicago! Wish I could go this year, it’s my favorite con.
I’ve never been to Chicago before, much less Wizard World, and I’m really looking forward to it. I know Udon will be there, though they won’t have a booth this time; hopefully, I’ll be able to find them. One thing’s for sure: I’m not being caught without business cards at this con like I was at SDCC. Stupid tight schedules, bah humbuggle.
Chicago is a much more laid back con. Everyone’s basically winding down from San Diego.
The location is pretty remote, and there’s only a couple of places to go after hours, so basically everyone hangs out/stays at the Hyatt bar. (connected to the convention)
More announcements get made and more creators are able to spend time just chit chatting. Great for networking.
It’s one of the better cons to take a portfolio to, I’ve found.
Thanks for sharing all those pics. They’re awesome. Are there any other websites that showcase Street Fighter art?
Here is a couple pics my buddy got from sdcc.
I went to Wizard World back in 1999, I had a really great time. But the booth we had to sell our underground comic was waaaaaay in the back behind Marvel and Image, I worked the table and I couldn’t find it half of the time! Best moment was when someone who sells Anime CDs saw me with an Exhibitor ID and he asked me for a sketch so of course I went back to my table and drew Sagara Sanosuke, the guy from my Avatar. He liked it so much and was also a Rurouni Kenshin fan so he let me pick out a free CD, so I picked up the SF3 Third Stike 2 disc soundtrack, I thought it might of been too much for just a sketch but he let me take it no problem! I gave him a lot more sketches of stuff to compensate though, conscious is a killer. Back then, that dual CD disk set would go for eighty bucks easy. It’s still my favorite Video Game soundtrack to this day.
I met writer Mark Waid there as he was with his wife. He’s mad cool, when he wasn’t signing he was on the floor buying comics just like everyone else and wasn’t stuck up, he would stop to talk to people about comics and stuff when other unnamed people would just zoom right by you when they were not at the table (COUGH! COUGH! Lou Ferigno that’s why you’re a has been!)
Nishiko - Wow a Shinkiro Gouken Sketch. Sniff, sniff, that’s beautiful man! Thanks for sharing!
SFMC - Which artist or artists drew those pictures? Always cool to see an SF3 character in the mix.
the sketch sfmc’s buddy got was drawn by the new guy, hsien Nguyen.
Cool, thanks.
