SDCC Udon Sketches

Wah!

I want a sketchbook with a sketch!

Guess I’ll just have to keep my eyes on ebay for the next week or so and hope I get lucky :frowning:

Damn the atlantic!!

Here the Rose I got Arn to do for me:

Rose Sketch

Well if we’re showing past ones, I got this one last year at SDCC.
I think it was from Joe something, I can’t remember his last name. Think it started with a “V”.

Anyways, I always crack up because of where he put my name.

Yep, it was definitely Christine who did that one. AFAIK, the only female Udon artist who didn’t make it was Jo Chen, as she was due to deliver her baby anytime.

FYI, one of the girls working the booth was me. :bgrin: I got only three sketches myself, but two were from Ikeno and the other from Shinkiro. I’ll post scans when I get home tomorrow.

Oh, and

<3

udoneko. That is all.

Which one were you, the lady with the short brown hair and glasses?

If so, I was the dork with the blue hat and Hellsing portfolio bag who kept missing Erik…Again, thanks for being so nice.

Udon and Capcom artists are awesome

With no doubt, Udon has hired some of the best, young and talented artists, like Alvin, Omar, Arnold, Christine…etc. In comparsion, their drawings are as good as the two famous Capcom artists, Shinkiro and Ikeno during the booth signing session at SDCC.

I’m looking forward to next year’s SDCC seeing all the Udon artists again, plus I hope Capcom/Udon invite another 2 Capcom artists, like Bengus and Edayan

Heheh fun thread. Thanks for sharing the great images.

Ditto. Thanks again!

So Christine Choi it is then. Thanks for clarification guys. I had just seen her do a couple of drawings earlier and they were awesome, so i just went on that. It was like 6:59pm and the whole show was about to close, so there was no time to be ninja about finding out her name beforehand.

So, back my other question. Any ideas about the best way to find out artists’ names in that kind of a situation?

Don’t be a bashful bastard, batsard!

That NakaDizzy’s awesome as hell.

I think the first part of the convention they had like a piece of paper in front of them saying their name and what comics they do… you could also look at their badges and see their name… but sometimes the pieces of paper didnt match the artists cuz if you were at SDCC they were all sitting in differents places all the time… but the artists are really nice… we got to talk with Omar and he showed us his passion for what he does. Hope that helps…

Do these Udon artists have their personal gallery websites? Like Alvin, Arnold or Christine? I’m interested to see what other stuffs that they drawn.

Nope, that’s Gala. I was the one with the waist-length hair pimping the Eternal Challenge books, TPBs and Shin Akuma/Gouken busts. I think I might have seen you, but I saw so many people that weekend that I’m afraid I can’t remember atm.

Everyone had their names on their badges, but if you’re not close enough to read them and too shy to ask, you can always listen for someone to address them by name and go from there.

Haha that’s the thing though. I’m not too shy to ask. I’m just trying to refine my approach a little instead of always being the kind of ghetto guy that asks valets if i’m supposed to tip them. The artists’ seats were too low, so their name badges were all hanging under the tables. Plus the font was really small anyway.

Norm McDonald had an awesome way of doing it in Dirty Work, but i can’t find the quote on the internet so i’ll check the movie later tonight.

Norm: “Rebecca! Rebecca!” (Or some other name)
Kathy: "I’m sorry, were you talking to me? You must have forgotten, my name is Kathy"
Norm: “No, you never gave it to me so I was just guessing”

Or something along those lines.

(Mitch sees Kathy walking down the street.)
Mitch: "Mildred! Hey Mildred! Mildred, Wait up!"
Kathy: "Oh, hi Mitch. I guess you forgot my name. It’s not Mildred, it’s Kathy."
Mitch: "Oh no I didn’t forget. You never told me, so I just guessed."
Kathy: “Oh, that’s a novel approach.”

Mitch: “So where are we going? Like your apartment or something?”

chair_home: That was pretty close, but Akuma is in the details.

Um waaaay too much work. If you’re to shy or want a more refined way to ask… don’t ask the artist. When buying the mag ask the guy you’re buying from “Which of the Udon artists are sketching right now?” and they’ll probably name them and point them out lol.

as an addendum here are a few sketches from the Udon crew at SDCC 2005. More will be added later

SDCC 2005 Arnold Tsang - Lilith
SDCC 2005 Omar Dogan - Morrigan and Lilith
SDCC 2005 Noi Sackda - Jasara
SDCC 2005 Shinkiro Mori - Karin

I like that answer. I think i’ll roll with that. Thanks for the protip.

This doesn’t really relate, but do you have to be 18 to enter the SDCC? I imagine so, but I’ll only be 17 next time around so I figured I should ask.

no. SDCC has no age limits. The one you are talking about is probably E3.
