SD Muddclub Pricing Changes

Good shit, glad you guys are still trying to get us out to come. I mean isnt that what everyone wanted, an arcade where people would want to go. People play at Tilt and I know that was 50 cents also. We finally catch a break but yet no ones still happy. 50 cents for an old game may sound outrageous, but their trying and thats what should really matter. Or could this just turn into another argument about the cons and positives about higher prices and lower prices?

weres mudd club at?

you should make another thread once the near future passes (next year?) to let us know that it’ll be 25 cents…

FreshOJ pretty much hit the nail on the head. there are more players from down south then there are up north. i mean, the gas money i’d waste driving to mudd club could be spent on more games at chula. if chula would lower marvel to 25 cents…pshh it’d be over. the cartel would be more then willing (as its been proven) to donate better sticks and buttons, theres a CVS pharmacy with lower prices on snacks and drinks, and it’d be worth the trip for the northern heads to drive down.

at the end of the day it is all about prices and how much is coming out of our pockets to play some competition. thats why people play at nickel and chula instead of mudd club. I personally prefer Arcade to console, but nobody listens so were better off having a tournament at don’s or somethin.

gumz, how much was marvel where you were at before s.d.?

it was $.50 i believe

its about competition really , and even they probably don’t want to pay .50 cents a game, so why go there if the better comp isn’t there to begin with.

i dont understand mudd clubs logic. im 99% sure all of the fighting games they have sit there untouched all day every day, if they just dropped it to 25 cents people would go.

allow me to try to explain something, hopefully it comes out the way i want it to:

Fighting games are a lot different than the rest of the games mudd club has. I can see why they would charge $1 to play some time crisis shooting game because its a huge machine, where you play against the computer. If you are good at this game, you could be on there for 10-15 minutes at a time. Not only that but the machine probably cost like a few thousand dollars, so i can see why this would cost a dollar to play.

Fighting games are head to head games that last 1 to a maximum 5 minutes. (5 minutes being cvs) Fighting games are fun because you play against someone else, not against a computer. The games are all over 5 years old, and played on a showcase cab that was probably built in 1995.

So is the customer paying for the time to play the game? no, the game goes too fast to warrant 50 cents. Not to talk shit but a few people could mop up some guys in under a minute. I feel bad when i beat someone in 30 seconds and they just payed 50 cents.

Is the customer paying for the technology? nope. old showcase cabs, sticks and buttons that probably cost close to 20 bucks for a set that need to be replaced like once every few months. How much does it cost to fix a ddr pad when it breaks??? how much does it cost to fix a microswitch on the 2p jab button??

in conclusion…

im glad i moved to nor cal…

It’s good to know that I can still make sense. Given the other arcades’ unwillingness to listen, when you have one that will at least act like they hear you, you talk until they either stop listening or they give you everything you’re asking for.

It would be a whole different thing if we didn’t know what we’re talking about, but we actually do. My customer service experience has taught me one thing: It takes a whole lot to be remembered for extremely good service, but not much at all to be remembered for bad service.

Muddclub, getting rid of the admission price is one step in the right direction. Lowering the price on games to 25 cents on the 18th and 19th so that you can see for yourself that what we’ve been saying is true would be another step. Permanently making your price 25 cents per game, keeping up the equipment, and listening to your consumers (especially ones that are connected to the communities for each game, are willing to drive for miles to get there, can bring back even more people with them provided you give them consistently good service) would be a leap in the right direction…ahead of your competition.

Again…read…reflect…relate…react. Thank you.

This is a great step for Mudd Club. However, there’s just that 1 thing that still bothers me…that $.50 a game. It won’t be all that bad, but if Mudd Club wants to attract a big crowd, .25 is the way to go. Not only that, think about the many people who will stay and buy your food and snacks. Please consider lower the .50 to .25 in the NEAR FUTURE.

Wow…the SD Third Strike crew is marvelling over the fact that they could play something for a quarter in their thread! Too bad it was out of town. It’s ridiculous that things are so pricey these days. Time for somebody to get smart.

lol.

thats just crazy talk.

Sorry…I’m the master of the unintended pun. I kinda wish I tried to do that, though. Kinda.

after reading what everyone has to say about mudd club’s prices this is what i think they should do: keep their price at 50 cents if they want, but make the continues 25 cents. don’t get me wrong, i still think that the price should be 25 cents all around for these games that are like 7 or 8 years old, but this way seems fair to me. mudd still gets 50 for games and we get to pay 25 cents also. i will say thank you to mudd club for at least trying to make prices better by getting rid of the admission fee.

i don’t have much leverage in the community but i was at mudd when the marvel tourneys were being held

tekken 5 on a non dedicab is a huge no no

but i’ve also seen how much they cared about us, the free drinks on the good nights, the “custom” dance pads for itg and ddr, big screens for 2 out of 3 of the big fighters, minus the lack of elbow room

but i’m gonna go out on a limb and check them out tommorow, i’ll try to get some other peeps to go with me, if anybody from chula wants a ride i should be able to get you up there, aiming from 11 to 7:30 or so

and if its whack its whack, but if its on point, lets just give them a shot
at least see what they have to offer these days

seriously whens the last time somebodys been up there?
who went up there when the thread started?

i might be new to this shit but hey no point in not trying to see what they’ve got

do they have a working cvs2 there?

Still waiting on a new rom for our cvs2 cab. taking longer than expected, but our 3s and mvc2 is good to go.

went to mudd last night with a friend. i only played on the mvc2 cab and it was pretty good. no problems with the stick or buttons. the place was pretty much empty except for one or 2 guys playing cs. it seemed too quiet and empty for an arcade.

even though they took out the $2 admission, that 50cents adds up fast. the amount of money i spent at mudd could’ve lasted me much longer at nickel. overall, i see a lot of potential in this place but because of the pricing, i probably wont be back for a while, maybe after a year when they do decide to lower their shit to 25cents a pop.

I have to agree with the drop of games to .25 a game. Every real good lasting, packed arcade has these games at .25! Iv been to Family Fun Arcade and Brian Billards before and oh man do they get super packed! The games are all set on
.25 a game. The mudd club owners should look at the Walmart philosphy here and if you get the games at .25 cents a game but draw hundres more to come business will boom. Rather then keep it at .50 cents a game and draw only 20 people to play. I think the profit margin will speak for its self. I think we all have said enough from a consumers side, but if they want to last they need to do more changes then just drop a fee for entry. Oh and for the record Iv only been to Mudd Club 3 times and all 3 times iv been its been super dead with 90% of all games turned off!

i remember the peepz in texas were getting mad about the same issue so what the manager did was occasionally he would open up the case and flick the switch like mega times so they could play for free

just a suggestion…

$2 entry fee and free play all day sounds good to meeeeee.

ahhh there we go, good to hear about your trip

hopefully i’ll get to checkin it out myself soon
