Your ‘point’ above doesn’t matter because it’s not relevant to what I was addressing, since I wasn’t actually addressing any of the topics being discussed in the thread. It was more a devil’s advocate because you are saying stuff that is just outright not true, as if it is, or attempting to make logical connections that are not there.
Yes, that was also a blanket statement. Do two wrongs make a right? I wasn’t talking about the OP of the PP thread, I was talking about your posts in the PP thread, and which focal points you center your arguments around.
Personally I’d say PP is an indication/trend at best. It gives an indication but is by no means a rule, nor does it follow any consistent skill distribution. Appropriately, you were saying how online is the same as offline, and the like, but that is also a big, fat lie.
Online is doing way better now than before. However, I live in one of the countries with very good internet. I’ve got 40/40mbit fiber optic, with excellent routing to most of Europe. If I’m lucky, I’ll get 40-50ms connection to someone outside my country. 20-30ms within my country. The avg. connection with the avg. European is around 60-80ms.
This game relies on frame-exact inputs so you can punish that -3 move. If you are playing on a 50ms connection, that means you already have a 30 frame delay. Couple this with packetloss elements and general lag, and you get something that a bit higher up and playing this game the same way online as offline will end up a catastrophe.
And no, I have met players who only learned a bit with a few characters like Cammy etc., and were rocking big points despite relatively bad fundamentals. Nowhere near what I’d call ‘solid’ in terms of consistent performance. I am not going to try and convince you with my anecdotal experience because it holds no merit for you, but point is you are telling me that my direct experience is laughable/ridiculous or whatnot, and to me, that is laughable (again, this doesn’t really make for that much of an argument but since you’re doing it…)
