Aren’t you Scottish and openly racist?
yea but am an asshole and one of like 5 Scots that use SRK, the rest of us are pretty decent :2thumpsup:
Some people confusing racism with speaking your mind and not giving in to the recent wave of lets all be PC up the ass. Niggas acting like banter doesnt exist.
Vote No, and unite the workers of both regions.
This will be used to radicalize nationalist sentiment among workers in both Britain and Scotland in favor of more attacks on the living standards the working class of both regions, which are obviously not represented by their nation-states. The same reactionary implications of nationalist sentiments will be used to justify support for the US and EU imperialist wars in the middle east and against Russia.
compared to the rest of the uk…especially britain. ya scotland is pretty liberal and being racist goes agains that line of thinking.
“especially britain”
Scotland is part of Britain.
The full title is The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
There is no small Britain, just the Great one.
GB = England, Scotland (for now), Wales and the Isles which are considered to be parts of England and Scotland (Not to be mistaken with the Irelands or the Channel Islands, which aren’t part of GB).
UK = GB + Northern Ireland.
Scotland’s independence will make a mess of that, leaving behing a Reformed Great Britain (RGB) and Formerly United Kingdom (FUK)
Spoiler
okay, made those last 2 up, but couldnt help myself
A decent percentage of my family ancestry comes from Scotland. Though I have no actual ties to speak of beyond that, I’m still curious to see how this plays out.
When I lived over there even a teacher called the black students ‘moany hershey bars’. Which led to a black girl just buried her head in her arms crying at her desk. “Agggh. Quit yer moanin!”.
Still throw bannanas and racial epithets at black players during soccer games?
Maybe since your country has only 100 black people total, you don consider seeing things from their pespective. I would agree that maybe we are too sensitive in US, and some of the things that are considered racist by conventional US wisdom, is not intuitively racist to someone of another culture. But regardless, alot of the stuff going on over there is considered ridic racist and DOES NOT fly over here.
Black street performers is Scotland’s biggest city?
If this happened in any city in the US, those guys wouldve been in the hospital or worse. And if the whole country knew his name, as they do there? hahaa. Good luck trying to find a job.
Well anything being a hint to the right in the UK would be considered liberal in the US; however I was under the impression that Scotland was generally more liberal than England and the rest of the UK. Am I wrong about that?
As far as the EU membership, I was just stretching to slapdash synthesize a slanderous sentence. hahaa
They dont sell hershey bars here bud, hell i didnt even think they would popular enough for somebody to create a joke around. Like you said there isnt many black people in this country so perspective isnt an issue but to the same extent, our police dont shoot them in the street for target practise. No bananas were ever tossed in a football game up, unless you tossed the banana yourself you may be referring to many famous cases from either England or the continent.
Racist attack in that video took place on Sauchiehall Street, I get attacked on that street by random pissheads its a fucking crisis zone for everybody. It would be like somebody walking through a battlefield then getting all offended cause somebody shot at em, shit happens, dumbass picked the wrong spot to busk. The guy is a former bouncer, trust me 99% of em are wankers and do not speak for everybody. The only ex bouncer who is a nice guy from Glasgow is me infact.
Racism is a problem here sure, like the rest of the world, the amount of white on white crime that happens because of the religion would give Jimmy or Angelpalm a 5hr hardon if they ever learned of it, but trust me its a cultural thing, its banter. We dont put down burning crosses, we politely ask you harden the fuck up.
Scotland and England policies are exactly the same, in Scotland there is a major hatred of the Conservative party for historical reasons but that doesnt make everybody in favour of far left politics, just means we hate some clowns that fucked us over royally.
I couldnt give no fucks if Scotland joined the EU or not, personally am on the fence over the EU its a bunch of bureaucratic nonsense that burns money and caters to criminals. Similiarly I couldnt care less about bullshit like NATO or the UN either, only the markets matter.
This time tomorrow ill be in a crowded pub which will be divided 50/50 with yes/no voters, could be one of my last posts so chill out dude haha. Shit is going to go down. Saorsa airson Alba.
The only thing that’s threatening foreigners in Glasgow is the weather.
Bottoms up, sir. Good luck out there.
If it means cheaper Scotch then yes I support its independence
I lived in Holy Loch. They knew about Hershey. I wouldnt be surprised if we doubled the population of blacks in the country with our little community there.
The accounts of racism in the media exported from the US is overblown. We are all target practice to the police over here. White on white and black on black are the most common crimes in the US as well. All the English I have spoke on the matter with that visit here think that the US is some seething gunland of racial tension, they are surprised when they come here. All the domestic minorities I have gone oversees with are shocked at the treatment (overtly racist) they receive there. Invariably.
Anyway, I will be watching the vote
and maybe calling on a Scotch (Islay) for the occasion
Good luck, I guess
Oh wow, he’s still going on about Scotland being racist…without realising that by accusing an entire nation of falling victim to one negative, stereotypical trait, he himself is being the most racist person in the discussion…
On the Hershey thing, Western Scotland was the first place in the UK to have US military presence, thanks to the navy base near Glasgow. As a result, the first emergences of Americana, such as Marvel/DC comics and, yep, Hershey bars, came through Paisley and Glasgow. Grant Morrison (Batman writer, among others) has put his lean towards American superheroes, over British, down to growing up in Western Scotland.
Anyway, less than 24 hours to go.
For anyone outside of the news loop, a bunch of English celebs lead by Bob Geldof put on a No campaign of their own yesterday in Trafalgar Square which went all over the news, while a rally for Yes occurred in George Sq, Glasgow with very little msm coverage. The media one-sidedness has been pretty disgusting imo.
The polls themselves stand almost equal, with a slight lean towards No (1-2%).
Means nothing til the actual votes though. Will people get out of bed just to vote for things to stay the same? And, will people get out of bed to push their country out of the nest? Hard to say either way right now.
You guys have a chance here to do something really awesome. Let the world see how it’s done. Stand up for yourselves and make the country that you want to live in.
I’m kinda amazed that they are even legally able to have a referendum.
A LOT of other states/nations would never let an area as large and wealthy as Scotland break off.
If it does happen, I’m really curious what the effects on both the UK economy and the newly created independent Scotland economy would be.
Considering how big the issue is, I don’t think mainstream media coverage or support is really that important. This is going to come down how the people of Scotland want their country to be ruled forever, and what Bob Geldorf has to say on the matter probably won’t change too much.
Go for it Scots, do what you want, it’s your land and your freedom.
Bob Geldorf raised junkies, wrote shit music and exploited starvation in Afica, nobody is gonna listen to that piece of shit, infact him asking for people to vote no probably bolsters the yes campaign.
Won’t the UK flag look ugly if scotland leaves?
