Scotland Leaving the UK, Anyone?

I thought that, for Scottish humor, all we had to do was look at the result of the referendum?

You don’t “choose” to pay taxes, if you make below a certain amount of foreign income (for Americans it’s around $90k), it’s untaxed over that then it’s taxed at whatever the rate is.

Just to simplify this, you’re pretty much saying that if you don’t live in the country then you’re not entitled to your rights as a citizen which is ludicrous. As far as contributing, can people on the dole vote? If they can then how do you justify that?

Haha cmon man don’t put words in my mouth like that. I’m not saying you lose your rights in the slightest, I’m saying you cant vote on how residents of Scotland live if you aren’t a resident of Scotland. It’d be a pretty hypocritical vote if you did.

Interestingly, if you see any of your British mates, ask to see the inside cover of their passport. There’s actually a promise in there, from the crown, that your rights will be protected to a British standard, no matter what country you’re in.

We don’t have that $90k rule here at all, although likewise we cant take large sums of money OUT of the US without paying you guys something. Seldom anywhere else though.

Standard business plan for British engineers:

  1. Move to the Emirates
  2. Work hard
  3. Make a pile of tax-free money
  4. Move back to the UK
  5. Still pay no tax on it
  6. Buy a house in cash
  7. Baller the rest yo lyfe
