I dont know about the whole placement thing. It’s single elimination any ways so RX could have just as easily choked up as an anchor. Yang and Urien are in similar placement in the tier list any ways so either or would have worked IMO. Maybe RX is a bit better but vids and this tournament today have proven that Roshi is a damned wall and shows how solid of a character Yang is. When you play him right it’s like always having bar for Ken. Low forward or any other confirm always leads to knockdown + damage/stun . I dont care who you are though…a good Makoto player is always nerve racking to fight. She makes no damned sense even when you’re making sense of her. She’s the wild card of 3S. Always has some way of taking the entire round even when it looks like she’s done. You dont have to be number 1 to take out number 1 with her.

That was some good 3s. gah RX! Why does makoto have to be so short. All were masters of their character but it just wasn’t enough. Good watch none the less.

Overall I’m happy with the way things turned out. Top tiers prevail again but it’s 3rd Strike and there is still some solidarity in an otherwise very out the window kinda game. For the second place team to consist of not even one top tier is hella cool tho. Some people say Sugi was useless and he may have been but god knows he would have destroyed if he had gained any kind of real momentum. He is nuts.
Oh and yeah…Makoto is the same bish who’s neutral throw (headbutt) makes her invincible for a second after she hits you with it. She’s also the same bish that randomly can get hit by c.MK to SA2 from Chun and if she’s crouching there’s a chance she can block the super even if it’s confirmed. :wasted:
Very true, 3s is just good like that, anyone can compete and RX’s team proved that. Those results were random as hell, I bet no one would have guessed it.
well once we saw zangoef/aruka lose like that we knew the whole tourney was a tossup 
but man that was some crazy yun vs yun…wasnt boring for once.

u guys think sugiyama woulda done better as anchor? necro isnt a bad idea for makoto…then again never know how things will turn out. sugiyama wasnt up to par this day…it was sad…i thought i’d see some corner rape…there were a few opportunities but it didnt happen.
imo zangoef and aruka needed a better teammate…maybe like AFM or someone to anchor with a top tier :sarcastic: … but really hayao or someone woulda been a nice addition.

If you missed out, I’m trying to put up the details as fast as I can (including the semis and finals).
All I have to say is that the semifinals were hella insane and there were crazy close matches. Pretty exciting SBO for 3s I thought, even if it had a limp ending. Gotta get me this dvd, there were a BUNCH of matches they didn’t even show or I didn’t see(I wanna see how Match/Mester/Raoh got done in, same for Koushun & Jiro).
Yamazaki is a beast even though he picks that living turd as his main.
Aruka alone should have been enough to carry the team to top 8 (he OCV’d a whole nother Japanese team last year) but Rikimaru was just doing WAY too well. Like he was effectively punishing Ibuki’s f+MK on parry with c.LP to super. Which is a very difficult tactic seeing that c.LP gives you no real time to confirm. It’s either you do it and it works or it doesnt and get screwed over. I mean yeah…Aruka definitely had stronger partners tier wise last year with Pierre and AFM on his side. Yet Aruka knows the game and his character way too well to take the team far even just by himself. AFM and Pierre definitely helped to keep the team solid though.
It was fun seeing Aruka live like that. You can just tell by the look of his face that he’s been playing fighting games for a long while. Zangoef is beastly but as soon as Rikimaru got up to the plate it pretty much shows what happens in every Alex vs. Chun match. Alex gets a bit of momentum first round…Chun then has 2 full meters and Alex can no longer do ANYTHING. GGPO Alex. Yamazaki is a hella strong player in general IMO but yeah…his character forces him to lose matches that he would have a better chance with if he used a higher tiered character. Yet…in 3rd Strike anyone can win especially if you only have one match to prove yourself so having him just added extra variety to that already crazy looking team. They just weren’t beating an up and coming Chun Li beast.

Who knows. It made me sad, since I was rooting for him from the start.
He wasn’t spacing or anything, he was dropping people and he kept eating wake-up after wake-up.
I’m sure he knew he was doing badly, because in the award ceremony after, he was just kind of standing in the back trying to look invisible.
He’s a lot better than I am, but the way he was playing, I could’ve done better than that. I hope Pino put on a good show at least, 'cause Sugiyama was making Necro look ‘weak’.
As for Yamazaki. He was doing great, and then he got supered once and lost like 70% of his bar, which pretty much sums up Twelve in general.
RX looked like he was carrying the team most of the time, in the finals his clutch kind of burnt out. I just can’t believe Roshi chose SA3 against Makoto, I thought that seemed damn silly.
You could tell confidence played a huge factor in the finals, the guys that looked composed or like they just got a blow job played very smart.
What can I say…it was the best SBO I’ve seen so far, and they haven’t even started the Accent Core yet. I’m also depressed that RX lost, since I was rooting for him as well. I’m also saddened at Aruka/Yamazaki losing in the first round…
Initially though, I was rooting for MOV since he’s one of my favourite players but sadly he didn’t do that well in the final four.
Can’t wait for Accent Core. My money is going to be on Kaqn’s team. If not him, then KA2/Koichi’s team.
Yeah we got ocv treatment from Raoh, but I would just like to say that SBO was the THE BIGGEST AND BADDEST THING ON THE PLANET!!!:wgrin:
Who beat Momochi? I was pretty sure that fool would win it all.
That was really a great exciting 3rd Strike Finals. I’ve never seen Momochi want it so bad against Umezono’s team in the semi’s!
