Sounds like you’re thinking of some HDR changes there. No idea where the more life thing comes from though, sounds like someone just making stuff up.
HDR classic mode is pretty much the DC port with new graphics and the DC port is good. Set it to T4 though.

No, you do not have to be at the registration area at 10 if the tourney starts at 3pm. Just make sure you sign up and are NOT late for each of your tournaments because if you are late you will be charged a late fee.
Watch for the SBO poster for the location in the mall for the tournament across from NAILS PRO past the food court, opposite end of the mall away from the arcade.
