OmegaX: Yes, I used to live there in 1996-97, and I went back multiple times a year until about 2003.
Sabre: I like SNES KI, you just have to treat it as a different game, I think it’s very fun.
NoHoHo: I’ll be too busy running the tournaments. No time to think about money matches at all; but you knew I could counter pick with the best of them =P
It’s funny, for a tournament that has been going on for 15 years, there sure is a hell of a lot more stress and setup this year than previous years.
We have three tournament organizers this year, and three laptops running.
All I can say is, be at your station for your matches. It’s basically 120 seconds, then we move on to the rest of the matches in round. If you aren’t there by the times those are done, you’re disqualified, no exceptions.
To put that in perspective, if there are eight matches in the first round and 3 of the matches have people missing, there’s even LESS time for the first round to end, which means a whole lot of disqualification going on.
But thats how you gotta do it to keep moving ahead of schedule, Dream. Props to you.
The biggest thing tournament maker is missing is the ability to mark a PLAYER, not a match, as ‘in progress’ so it marks all of his available matches in multiple brackets as him being in-game somewhere.
This year, there will be a mystery tournament director who has a short temper, is generally an asshole, has DQed people without remorse at majors before, and usually replies to sob stories with the phrase “go fuck yourself.”

if you look at the schedule. pretty much running one game at a time. that isnt an issue. if you are in the middle of an unofficial side tourney match, tough shit.
if you plan to take off for a couple minutes or have to go somewhere for longer. come to us and ask how many matches til yours is up. while we will be happy to tell you, its still all on you to be there if the matches move ahead faster than expected. like dream said, you may be 10 matches down the bracket, but those 10 matches before you, half the players could be gone as well, dramatically moving us further down the bracket… or if you plan on going outside to smoke or something, tell a friend, so if we call your name, your friend can go get you real fast.
its all about accountability. we cant afford to wait on people
If you ask the mystery tournament director when you will be up, chances are he will not want to really look that information up, and will tell you that you’re up next. And you will wait around for 3 hours until he wakes up and realizes that there are 50 nerds waiting for him to call the next match. So you should probably not wake him up, because he will disqualify you instantly.
