Lol at you for ignoring the 100 plus page discussion about this, regurgitating the same tired and debunked points, and thinking that lessons learned with melee mean anything at all in brawl.
I can not get over how closed minded the old melee community is.
Mr. Wizard said to prove it. He said play items and smashballs on and see what you can avoid, and what you cant. Take video. Show what needs to be turned off, instead of trying to force every to play your way based on your word alone. I dont even want to go through your post and explain why most of what yo said is blatantly flase because this has derailed the thread enough already.
We get it. You dont like items. But if you want evo and srk related tournaments to run your way, fucking prove your points instead of talking trash on the internet.
luck manipulation is a skill. changing your gameplan based on random situations is a skill. there is more to test than just who can fight on a floating platform best here. If you continue not actually trying it, you lose the right to complain at evo rulesets. period.
I apologize for apparently ignoring 100 pages worth of discussion, I saw the last few posts and wanted to reply to those specific posts, not the 100 before. However I never said that things that applied in melee = things applied in brawl, they just helpped get to the conclusions a lot quicker since a lot of the basic principles are the same. Items, however, have been boosted, such as being able to jump with the super scope, and the amazingness of the fan. It doesn’t take long to see how incredible the fan is…
For one, I’m not trying to force anyone to play any way, I was just explaining a few things, and maybe instead of making someone get video, the people hosting the tournament should test the things already brought to their attention. Not everyone is capable of making a video… Besides, your “tests” have already been done in California ever since the japanese release back in january. The concluded acceptable items are “Lip’s stick, star rod, super scope, fire flower, freezie, hothead, mr. saturn, green shell, banana, spring, and franklin badge.” In other words, it’s not just my word, it’s an entire communities word based off of tourneys…
Am I really coming off as I don’t like items and talking trash? I’m trying to be as calm and polite about this as I possibly can, simply debating things, not trying to force anything.
I’m really hoping most of this is aimed at digimon, since I’m not complaining about anything. However, luck manipulation? How can you manipulate a heart landing on the complete opposite side of the stage after you just forward smashed your opponent there?
Changing your gameplan I’ll agree with is skill since being able to adjust to the items falling is definitely necessary, and just whining later doesn’t mean anything.
I also actually play with items on quite a bit, and people I 2-3 stock end up getting much closer to beating me since instead of killing me with their characters moveset which usually doesn’t happen until a little over 100 or so, they can get really low percentage KOs, especially with final smashes. You’re making quite a few assumptions about me simply because I’m debating against items…
It was mosly aimed at webster, but a lot of your post s full of misinformation too. A months worth of closed testing on the import is junk. It takes multiple tournaments with the same unbeatable strategy winning them to show what is broken. Everyone has a list of items and stages that hey like or do not like, as evidenced by humbags post.
The fact is, that everyone can save replay data and send it to someone who CAN capture video. I do thank you for clarifying that you dont wish to force others to play your way (ill play on any setting, for the record)… but its clear as day from test tournaments that everything you are so scared of is capable of being dealt with. either the melee pros trying to set the rules didnt try very hard, or have decided to spread misinformation to farther some hidden agenda.
All im saying is, based on your post you havent given it a fair shake on a competitive level. thats fine. just dont spread misinformation like webster is (pokeball super edgeguard setups omg!)
LMAO…our post are full of misinformation, but yet you and the rest of you people can’t answer one simple question I have asked 5 times (around this site) and has been ignored:
Why is NOT having items a bad thing?
Are u just ignoring that? Is that something that shouldn’t be talked about…because god forbid it may prove some points I have made? Am I still being negative because I don’t agree with the SRK way of smash…LMAO? (I even made a thread on this in the appropriate spot, well to me anyways, to stop the talk about it in this thread. and it got closed…gee I didn’t see that coming…LOL! And was advised to actually talk about it in here…)
And speaking of that:
SaBrE: Get off that bull! I haven’t made one negative comment towards anyone period. And yea I disagree with stuff and u guys are trying to make me look like the bad guy (even though I don’t give a fuck anyways. and I want u to know SaBrE that I don’t give a damn how u think towards me. talking that bullshyt about me trying to make u look bad and Dream…wtf…I tried to promote this damn tournament with permission by u on tekkenzaibatsu and got bashed for it…so kick rocks foo) because I disagree with some of the features of this tournament. Just like yhall can say, “Webster…big fucking deal, if u don’t like it then don’t come!”, I’m going to say: “If u guys can’t handle someone not agreeing with what u do…then u shouldn’t run a tournament anyways!”. This isn’t the first time someone had disagreed with some shyt and I know it won’t be the last.
But I do give Dream credit for saying this:
WE CAN’T PLEASE EVERYONE!
And that’s QFT, end of story period.
And I refuse to keep going back and forth on this. No one is going to come to an agreement.
So I’ma chill and just wait and see the rules for the tournament. And then go from there…
One thing, Webster has been to MWC before, 2004 or 2005 IIRC, but he has been there. Thats all, I don’t play smash so I’m not gonna get mixed up in the rest of the arguement.
Whats good Wilson and Sabre! I havent made up my mind about Midwest this year and I haven’t missed Midwest since 05 but everything sounds good as usual.
I agree that items should stay off for the tournament. We all want more consistency right? I hope so at least.
btw Wilson has ducked me in MK 2 for 3 years now! ^.^
lolz
Aren’t there more constuctive places to have the stupid ass “items in brawl” arguement??? Especially when the person running this event has no control over the ruleset, because he’s using the ruleset that they are using at evo… which still isn’t clear at this point… so why continue the discussion here is what I’m wondering.
Damn…times like these I wanna play Brawl just to see what the end result is going to be.
I mean, you turn items on, people complain. You turn items off, people complain. You go half-ass, people complain. Nobody’s gonna “win” this battle of “wits”, if that’s what this even is. Accept the fate of the tourney, play to the best of your ability, and do what you can. If you lose, you lose. If you win, you win. There ya go.

looks like there are two 4 around there, though they’re all a bit further away than the red roof.
do a search at http://www.marriott.com/search/findHotels.mi and put in northbrook for the city and illinois for the state. the arcade on the map is pretty much were 94 intersects with waukegan
Probably for the same reason you don’t just play Pikachu vs Pikachu on nothing but Final Destination. Cause maybe there’s more to the game?
This whole argument is ridiculous though, since nobody in this thread is going to decide the rules for smash at Evo. Your effort would be better spent arguing about this in the thread(s) where it actually matters…
Anyway…so, there’s gonna be qualifier spots for Evo? Cool. Now I have even more of a reason to want to make it out there! :woot:
SweetJV - hey hope you can make it out. I think about half of the Super Sunday group will finally get to meet.
Airthrow - I think that’s just airlines in general for awhile, not just that weekend. I started researching stuff for if I can go to Evo and found that if I take the same flight/hotel that I did last year it will cost me twice as much this year and that’s in August of course.
