I’m 22 and I feel like I was too young to appreciate most of the good years in U.S. fighting games, so 19 is definitely too young to be competitive.
I’m becomming better at ST as time goes on, but if I was 30 right now and from Southern Cali, you all would probably have heard of me.

I was late to join into the fighting game genre, but have been playing games for as long as I can remember lol.
you know what else it was a good era for? Consoles…Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis…nothin’ but classic times and then playin’ til sun-up…

Anyway, last year I tried to run a Friday Night CvS2 Single Character tourney and got the ok from Jason, except I had a last minute emergency and couldn’t make it… What’s the possibility of that actually happening this time around? Interest level?
LOL…in the old days, I’m 22 btw, I associated my teachings of martial arts and that of playing fighting video games in the arcade (I know Dream is going to give me an ear full…LOL). It was an inspiration to become a great martial artist of my size and be able to move as I saw characters did in the games I played and some of the awesomeness I watched on T.V (i.e: power rangers, kung fu movies, WMAC Masters). I started playing these games and doing martail arts at round the same time…4 years old. I remember it like it was yesterday, cause I finally beat sonic 1. A.k.a the hardest game ever (at that time) and MK was just being released in the Arcades.
Yes MK was the very first fighting game I ever played (curious to know everyone else’s)!!!
Then it came to console (forgot when) on Sega and I was in heaven playing that game all day everyday. It was fun and free. Then when I went to the Arcades to play, I was completely lost, so used to playing on pad and couldn’t do anything on a stick. Lost every match I played. Soon after I got an SNES for my b-day and I traded in everything I owned at Funcoloand (did anyone else have this store in their hood…talk about oldschool) to get it. I had an Atari, NES, and Sega. Then got MK for SNES. And shorty after MK2. Man those looked WAY better on SNES. And I never touched Sega again.
For some reason one of my buddies, pulled a fast on on me and stolen my MK2 and left me with this stupid game (at the time I thought it was) we know today as Street Fighter 2 turbo. I forgot how old I was at that time…but I do remember being pissed, crying and screaming…“WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHYT!”. I took my copy of Double Dragon 5 out of my SNES and put in Street Fighter 2 Turbo. The scary man with the red eyes (who turned out to be Ryu) that appeared in the into made me turn the game off. And it took me a couple months before I played it again. Because low and behold I saw it played by a lot of people in my local arcade. The scary man didn’t scare me anymore I concluded and figure I’d go to the machine and play. And then I realized that it was cool. The first character I picked was Bison, cause at the time I thought he looked like a white version of me…LMAO!!! And Balrog was ugly. And Dhalsim looked like the guy from Soul Train.
And 16 years later here I am today…LOL!
