Justin and ricky will win, so what?
for 3rd they arnt allowed in the tourny so “knocking people out” really doesnt matter now does it?
it is 3 WHOLE SEPERATE TOURNYS, not 3 top 32s

theres 2 out of area players coming, mopreme having a real chance at it. thats not enough to “blend” away a plan(not accusing, admitting the possibility)
it would be just as easy to bow the match. you must be convinced the EC is filled with top players ready to take out the 2, its not. whats good here is second tier/the standard where 3s counts, anyone who says different doesn t travel.
alright whatever, i m not going, sick of this shit, same shit as last year, only now i would of had a decent shot at it. have fun guys and good “luck”.
talk your shit people, i ll see you at another event
shodokan- STFU newb, go get some pussy, fuckin nerd
Ko Fiend I think your cool in all but I’m not down to just give ANYBODY an automatic spot! They gotta play me 4get that ish u talking. Especially since only one Chun can make it are u SERIOUS!! After Chun has won a tourney is open doors for anybody imo. What u scared of Ken too? lol hahaha
Better learn Denjin
Outro
Stop “e-thuggin”. Seriously man where do you get off making fun of me? you never met me, so i really dont get why you have to attempt to degrade me by calling me “newb”, wtf is this son? World of Warcraft? As for me getting pussy, wtf does that have anything to do with me being a “nerd”? Sure i play games alot, but i do chill with people IRL nearly every day after school. So as for me being a “nerd” you are half right i suppose.
As for justin, ricky and mopreme winning, if they do, cudos. But if you honestly think they will take it no effort then you seriously need to re-think some things. We all know upsets do happen. Look dude i don’t want bad blood wit you for no reason, if you think i’m an idiot then fine, but it need not go further then that. I dont HATE anyone in the community, no matter how much of an idiot or asshole they are.
ethug? i ll say it to your face, i don t care. i ain t your “son” either.
did you even read what i said?
me: "lets say the two purposely qualify in the last 2 tournies. "
you: “…for 3rd they arnt allowed in the tourny so “knocking people out” really doesnt matter now does it?”
Unsure about being able to make it atm, we’ll see…
i guess i missread, i’m sorry then. i aint tryin to start shit wit u dude, seriously.
but if that were the case, that’s pretty fucked up lol.
Pre registrations by mail have closed today. I want to thank those that did register by mail.
My goal is to make this registration process easier for everyone, so I have extended the on site registration hours.
On site registrations will be allowed ALL DAY Thursday and Friday from 2PM to Midnight. To do this, PRINT OUT a copy of the waiver form (TGA’s copies won’t be available until Saturday) and present a government issued ID to the staff member on duty. They will process the application and give you an entry ticket on the spot. The entry fee for Saturday and Sunday is $40, it includes your three tournament registrations and unlimited games at TGA for the weekend.
Registrations will resume on Saturday between 10am and 11:45. After that, they close.
If you wish to come early to TGA to practice, our usual regular flat rate is $20 for unlimited games all day (music and fighting). And $10 for fighting games only between 6pm and Midnight.
For Tougeki practice, I will extend the $10 all day flat rate for fighters only on both
Thursday and Friday. So you can pay only $10 per day on Friday and Saturday and play fighting games all day, each day. We have three sets of Third Strike versus cabs set up in a separate room in the back. I suggest that people come early to practice if they are unfarmiliar with Japanese hardware.
The other fighting game room will have versus sets of:
KOF X1
GG Slash
CVS2
SSFII Turbo
MVC2
These machines are yours to practice on, have casuals, throw side touneys…etc Whatever you can do to help raise funds for the team, is encouraged.
I have read the above comments and here are my thoughts. I respect everyone’s thoughts and opinions. We have chosen to run this tournament in this fashion, due to the wishes of SBO.
Yes we all know Ricky and Justin are superb Third Srike players, but so is everyone else who is coming to this event. This is a big moment for us, the East Coast, the West Coast and fighters around the world. I have no hopes of winning this tournament, but I’m entering…why? Because I want to play against the best, I want to be part of this historic event, not only as the tournament administrator, but as a fellow fighting game player. I’m also looking forward to casuals on other games as well, if time permits for me to get some games in.
I’m not saying I’m an expert on the competition, but I know that people have been training hard since we announced this. I have faith in the community.
To Kofiend and anyone else who is hesitant, I wish you would come and give it a shot. However I understand, respect and appreciate your position, just remember it’s not to late if you change your mind and wish to come.
On a closing note, I want to thank everyone who has been supporting us. This is our first time doing this event, so i’m sure there will be a few bumps, especially since we are doing it at our current location. I tried my best to get the new building but the forces who hate games held us back. The good news is that our new building is all but secure starting in April.
So, all we need is your support through a good turnout, good competition and a good team to go to Japan, and next year, we could have the honor of having entries for the other SBO games such as GG, whatever Tekken version is out by then, and of course 3S.
I will do my best to keep updating and improving our fighting game room.
As it relates to this event:
Please be ready to follow directions, and please be on time.
I know I’ve said this a million times, but:
**DON’T FORGET A COPY OF THE WAIVER FORM AND GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO IDENTIFICATION!! YOU WON’T BE ALLOWED IN WITHOUT IT. **
Thank you everyone, I wish you the best of luck.
Andy
…uh… there would be more controversy just auto qualifying people
it’s like saying, hey, even on their worst day with possibly no practice for who knows how long, they’d steamroll over everyone you do and don’t know.
…plus, it’s easy for anyone to get randomed out with single elim and random seeding
can you please elaborate on this? (most specifically how much ‘portions of the funds’ entitles)
i couldn’t find it on the site or the first post (and i’d rather not search through the thread)
if i do make it out there and if i run any side tourneys, i just wanted to know the ground rules.
regards!
hey TGA are you going to email any participant that they got their entants in? It would be nice to know.
Andy… what about the whole TV thing? i wanna play some casual 3s wit some people.
I know u got stix we can use so you should hook the TV up in the music game room for some casual 3s… I know not everyone who is coming to this plays more then just 3s, so it would be good to have somthing for us to play
Pm me if yes so i know to bring my flash stick.
Some last minute plans and I actually forgot about this because I’ve been so busy, anyway
Can someone pick me up from the Greyhound terminal in Providence on Saturday at 10:30am?
Thanks
All confirmation e-mails for mail in pre-registrations have already been sent out. If you have not received a confirmation e-mail, please contact me via pm asap.
As far as tourneys go…
Nobody has approached me officially about running tourneys, I have some ideas in mind for tourney organizers, Josh being one of those.
Since I haven’t been officially approached about any side tournament, I’m leaving it up to the people at the event, to act like adults, designate someone, come up with entry fees, rules brackets and run it, I have faith in you. Before doing so, all I require is a quick overview, if it sounds good, I’ll approve it. This includes whatever the participants, confirmed by the tourney organizer decides is fair for dividing the fees.
As far as TGA goes, ALL the SBO entry fees for the tournament will go towards the airline ticket fees, whatever is left comes out of my pocket. Whatever extra funds are raised through candy / soda sales /tips / side tournaments / will greatly be appreciated.
The big screen TV in the back is available for you guys (and girls) to use as you see fit for practice and or side tournaments. I will see if I can get some extra sticks, but any sticks people bring would be appreciated. Also, if someone wants to bring systems as well, it would help, as we will not have any systems out on the tournament, we will leave that up to the people wishing to run casuals on games we don’t have machines for.
People always bring systems, games and sticks, so if you are in the habit of doing so, please do so for this event as well.
I look forward to seeing everyone, good luck!
Andy
Too bad you aren’t going to go but after I read what you said and thought about it, it just makes me think what if their 3rd person gets far but gets eliminated by someone they didnt expect. It would force either ricky or justin to grab a spot. Hell, It could happen 2 times and have the last tourney Justin and Ricky free.
I hope you can make it and if not well maybe next time.
andy i will bring a ps2 and a copy of 3s for the big tv, my one problem is that i dont want people using my stick i dont really know, ESPECIALLY if i am called away and someone ganking my ps2/sticks. I know you will have more then enough staff to make sure this doesnt happen… but it could be an issue do the the fact i know some people are shady… not accusing anyone but just some people are shady.
Colin: Put a name tag (masking tape) on it and hopefully people will be respectable enough to not touch/abuse your stick or system no homo
**This is going towards everyone **
TGA is not responsible for anyone’s personal belongings, they are under your control alone. If you do not feel comfortable leaving your items at TGA then prepare for any sort of consequence it will bring if you decide to leave it there. TGA has tried taking care of other people’s belongings in the past, but it led to this decision that we will not watch out for anyone else’s property.
People just like to ruin everything for everyone.
Also about the Console Area for this event:
I will post up later on to see if I can bring in any extra tv’s I have around for you guys. If not, then I’m sorry. But i will do my best to get you guys the casuals you desire.
Systems/games/sticks will be under your control guys, we can not ELABORATE ENOUGH: we are not in control of the side tourneys/casuals going on. But if someone decides to step it up and take charge for these side tournies then we’ll be more than happy to let you guys go at it.
Phi: send me a pm of your sn so that we can see if we can work something out. Thank you!
On another note, “media control”:
If anyone could bring in a camcorder that’d also be wonderful. Recording matches, moments, interviews, crowd interaction, etc. would be a great way to send a message to the community that we (the East Coast) are a strong force in the fighting game community.
(Apparently, direct feed into the machines can not happen do to the fact that the VS cabs we are using does not support direct feed (vcr hook up) unless we get the correct Jamma cable.)
I really want this to be an enjoyable time and a great new experience for all newcomers traveling to Tokyo Game Action for the first time. I am very honored to be a part of this special event, and I’m also satisfied with the HATE that is going around (without drama, there wouldn’t be a fighting game community).
Keep the love for the game strong fellas; because if this tournament succeeds, and if we do well in Japan with our(East Coast) team … we’re going to create a HUGE uproar in the fighting community AROUND THE WORLD! :china: Japan would cry ALL YEAR until the next SBO, take it! :nunchuck:
-Gavin :karate:
bring me a TV to play on gav and i will bring the 2 jap sticks i have and the ps2.
i will have cameron watch to make sure no one abuses my sticks or anything, if they do i will just put them in the car along with the ps2.
and phi
he means that you will be charged a fee to host a side tourny. like 10% of the total or somthing.
still leaves 60/20/10
gavin/andy: did u get the PA system up yet?
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend this event as the sale for the house has yet to finalize so good luck to all that enter. Echoes of pain pm me your aim VS cabs dont use vcr hookups they need somehting else for direct feed i could help you pending if you can get all the material and are not scared to get in the cab itself
Is anybody arriving early like on Friday or something?.. planning to get some cassuals in before Sat.?
I’m coming Friday.
