umm, I’m just gonna win yep

its a shame croyd is winning this year cause his vote is worth canadian and that f0cks w/ the program… i’ll be here for some reason… is there even a marvel tourney or did that get swapped with a bonus 3s QUAD elimination EXTRAVAGANZA… then we’ll know the real winner’s winner…

oh ya and i’m over RI/CT in 3s… especially ct…

Scrub.

Yeah apparently there aren’t going to be any tournaments but 3s which is pretty lame, especially since they’ll have the larger location…I’m hoping this gets changed or else there’s really no point for me to go.

I just wanted to drop in with some info.

As of this moment, we are unsure if we are going to be moving into the new location prior to the tournament, or moving at all for that matter. Our paperwork was submitted back in October, only to have our movement into the new building stopped by City. Everything on our part was done right, people relating to the real estate aspect dropped the ball and as a result we have had no choice but to wait. It’s been an absolute nightmare and I’m not going to go into the details here, but I’ll be happy to tell you all about the cheating, backstabbing and lies that put us in this horrible position.

I am working with the City and spending rediculious amounts of money to fix other people’s mistakes in attempts to get this done in time, but I don’t know if it will happen.

So, if we have to hold this tournament at our current TGA location, I apologize in advance if it’s cramped and small. I’ve done everything in my power to get us into the new building, but it might not happen in time. If you want to be pissed off at someone yell at the real estate agent, the City and the landlord, not us.

I’ve also looked at over 30 other potential locations to get a bigger space for the tournament, but nothing worked out. Trust me we are working our collective asses off at TGA to make this as comfortable and enjoyable for you as we can.

The registration and waiver form is available at the TGA site for download. If you register beforehand you save $10 and avoid being excluded due to brackets due to late arrivals and time constraints.

If we are in the new building which has rediculious amounts of space and people want to hold side tournaments, we are fine with it go for it. However, at our current location, we are unable to do so. So at this point, there will be no side tourneys. If this changes I will let you know.

Thanks, good luck, and I look forward to seeing everyone there.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter, we are doing our best with what we’ve been given.

PLEASE WATCH THE SITE FOR THE FINAL LOCATION, IF A NEW SPACE PULLS THROUGH, WE WILL LET YOU KNOW ASAP.

Andy

All I have to say is that this is really gay. Whoever is responsible for the bullshit needs to be held accountable…to the full extent of the law. A real estate company should not be putting something on the market that is NOT in sellable condition per the city…and then to dick Andy over, who has put so much time and effort into getting this thing going, is just the last straw.

The truth is that without side tournaments, I’m not sure how the turnout is going to be for this qualifier. Unlike Japan, where I’m sure there are literally hundreds (if not thousands) of 3s players who are coming out for quals because they are all at the same skill level, I SERIOUSLY doubt that without side events, this qualifier will draw any kind of #s whatsoever. I myself was extremely interested in coming, but to be honest, I know I stand a snowballs chance in hell of doing anything if I come, because just like the majority of US Street Fighter players, I don’t play 3s very competitively. I would guess that on the East Coast, there are POSSIBLY at most a dozen players who play 3s at a high(er) level, and out of them I can blatantly say that Justin Wong, Ricky Ortiz, John Gordon, and maybe 1-2 others actually have a chance. What is left to entice others to come? With no side tournaments, I’m not sure.

This whole situation SUCKS to say the least, because I know that TGA is SUPER well-intentioned and they are getting buttfucked by legal entities much larger than themselves. I hope that everything works out and that hopefully, at the last minute, we can move this to a new venue. If not, I STILL wish you the best of luck and encourage anyone who promotes the scene to show up.

As much as I love New England, the amount of red tape that TGA is going through to open up at a new location is rediculious. Everyone really thinks that video games are the root of all evil. It’s ok to have bars and strip clubs, but having an arcade, now we CAN’T allow that. People in other states can’t believe the B.S. associated with this, it really is unbeliveable.

I’ve only been on the industry side of gaming for 3 years, I am a player like everyone else who decided to make the crossover, I NOW understand why game center owners are disgruntal, high strunk jerks. The amount of pressure involved in keeping game centers afloat is retarded.

The only cities that are working with us are Woonsocket and Bellingham. Unfortunately because this property was promised to us, we already moved our equipment and everything else in there and all licensing deadlines are soon closing in. I found out less than 3 weeks ago that our move was probably not going to happen, and since then I’ve been working my ass off to find a new place, get the landlord’s approval, get permits, get licenses, get zoning approval, and finally get the neighbor’s approval. Usually one of those steps someone steps in and stops us.

I was in a meeting about to sign papers a week ago, when the landlord’s lawyer accused us of hiding our true intentions… to open up a muffin shop! Yes, a Japanese game center will be selling muffins. Because we would be close to the post office, we really want to open up a muffin shop to make money, the video games are only a diversion. When I did open up my secret muffin shop, people would be using parking spaces and leaving muffin wrappers in the parking lot…next to his precious expensive car.

I really wish I was making this up, this is what I’ve been dealing with. if and when we find a place in time, it will truly be a miracle.

Add to this, the fact that we are getting kicked out of our building, because the after the lease expired, instead of renewing it, he sold it behind my back and the new building owners want to convert it to residential condos.

So there ya have it, TGA getting screwed by people who don’t like video games.

I promise I will keep everyone posted and I’m working night and day to find a solution. I haven’t worked a full shift in 3 weeks for the sake of finding a new location in time for SBO. Pray this works out!

Thanks for the support!

Andy

not to sound naive or stupid

can’t you file a countersuit or whatever for damages because that’s the most absurd thing i have ever heard in my life

secret fucking muffin shop. how does that hold any weight

yeah god damn that’s fucked up.

TGA is such a great place and it is pretty cliche to say that things like this always happen to great places and people but its so true. Hey Darksyde if TGA can move and side tourneys become possible, I don’t have expirience in organizing tourneys or anything but I will definately be willing to help out, I’m all for making this SBO Qual a great one.

drop the facade… the sf scene is notorious for muffin trafficking and its about time those good natured lawyers put their foot down…

As promised I’m checking in.

I had some more meetings today and things are looking good for the new location. If you’ve been to TGA or seen pictures, then this will make sense. The new fighting game room will be about 12 feet larger. Take our current room, remove the bathroom an the closet and entend it to the cash register and you get the size of the new room. If we do this right, it will still be a little cramped, but side tourneys will not be a problem. WE will be running our CVS2, Turbo, GGXXSlash, KOFX1 machines in addition to 3S, wich will all be on free play with your admission so if all goes well and we get the place and some people want to step up to the plate and run some side stuff, go for it.

I have some more meetings on Monday I’ll keep ya posted, the only drawback about the new location is that I won’t have a closet thus losing my hiding spot for the muffins.
