The schedule still hasn’t been posted. What day exactly is the SBO qualifying tournament? Is it all on Saturday? It should be Saturday because many people who travel have school or work on Monday, and need to travel back home on Sunday. So please verify the date of the tournament.
as far as i know it’s still 4th-5th of march…

I wanted to post an update that the waiver forms will be available for download from the TGA site by the end of the month. If all goes well they will be available by early next week, then official registrations will begin.
The dates of the tournament are still March 4th and 5th. The preliminary times we are shooing for are 10 am to midnight on Saturday then 10 am to 6 pm on Sunday to allow people time to travel. This is still under consideration as we are planning the event with the new landlord of the new building. and will obviously be dictated by the number of entrants.
The three tournaments will run using the following format. Each tournament, will have qualifiers, where the top 32 players will be determined using a 1 match single elimination format.
The top 32 seeded players of each tournament (or it’s closest numerical equivalent), will then compete in a two out of three match, single elimination format.
If a person is eliminated, they will be allowed to enter and attempt to qualify for the next tournament.
Final pricing is still being discussed and planned, all final details will be availble when then waiver forms are made available. The entry fee for the tournament will allow you to enjoy free play on all the other fighting games at TGA, while you wait between tournaments and matches.
We will also have separate package so that people can have unlimited use of all the games at TGA, while they are waiting.
Thank you
TGA Staff
WHY DID YOU CHANGE IT? You should have left it as 3 tourneys for 3 spots. I think “The three tournaments will run using the following format. Each tournament, will have qualifiers, where the top 32 players will be determined using a 1 match single elimination format.
” is a bad IDEA SIR… Alot of people will complain about this format. It doesnt bring out the best players.
Hey, you noob, why dont you shut up and go to a real tournament…
…ps sorry for calling you by accident the other day. We’re still boyz.
andy… i agree with justin on that one… i do like the 3 tourny idea, but the whole single elim to get to top 32… atleast put people into roundrobin pools like evo or somthing if you have to do somthing like that.
top 32 of how many? are we expecting more than 64 people coming to this thing? If not then your saying you’ll have 1 round of single elim before the tournament, sounds strange.
how drawn out will this tournament get? stick with your original update andy…3 tournaments, single match, single elim.
Ok folks, here’s the deal read this carefully.
Nothing about this tournament has changed, we are still doing three separate tournaments with all the related character restrictions.
We have 2 days to get 3 tournaments done, after posting the rules, I got complaints about people having to travel, and keeping late hours, my staff having to stay awake for 3 days, I had to take everything into condiseration, So I had a formula to do the top 100 as 2/3, if we only had 100 entries, top 64 for 150 entries, and top 32 for over 200 entries. However, I’m going to side with the overall consensus and keep it 2 out of 3 the whole way.
We did math for 2 days, and determined that 1 tournament alone, will take up to 8 hours. I have no problem with this, but I’m not the one travling from halfway across the country, I have to do my best to keep that into condiseration. And I have until the end of the month to try and make this work for everyone, but I’m going to throw this out there now read this carefully as this is my FINAL say on this matter. I’m done being open and nice and trying to accomodate everyone, this is IT.
This tournament will be two days. It will be starting extremely early, and ending very late. If you can’t handle that it’s better you don’t participate.
Please prepare for long periods of waiting, long periods without breaks, sleep depravation, and lots, and lots. of waiting.
Be advised that this tournament could end extremely late Sunday night and could carry over into early Monday morning. I doubt it will happen, but it could, so be prepared.
All this and a lot more is included on the waiver forms, so be prepared to make some sacrafices.
If you think we are going to entertain complaints and excuses you are wrong. This tournament will happen and produce 3 hardened players, regardless. We will not listen to: “I was too tired, so I couldn’t qualify, if the time was shorter, I would have qualified, TGA cheated me.” or “I got a stomach ache from my chicken fries at Burger King and Andy wouldn’t put the tournament on hold because I had diarrhea, I was cheated”
Remember everyone is all for this and supports it, BEFORE they lose the tournament. Once somone gets eliminated then every excuse in the world will come out to cover up their own shortcomings. I’m serious, you know it as well as I do. Some scrub is going to get destroyed by someone else, and we will have to listen to 3 pages of excuses of why TGA ripped them off, they’ll blame it on the Japanese sticks, or the buttons, or the lighting, or someone’s body odor, the chairs, the food at KFC. So, yYou want to talk shop, that’s what I’m doing, we all know what happens out there, you and I have been in this long enough to know.
When we run this tournament, we are doing so to get things done right the first time. If we call your name and you’re not there you lose your spot. We are not gong
to play games, we have a system, if you can adapt to to this, please condiser that before coming.
I’m willing to go the long haul for this if you are. If we are in agreement on this, let’s buckle down, prepare for 2 hardcore days of gaming and let the best 3 win.
I’m all for testing endurance and stress for 2 long days, I think it will produce a better player. If you are up for it I am too. Train hard and be prepared, I have faith in you people, now you can have my job of answering to the people who are upset that they will have to spend long periods of time to TRY and qualify and then dealing with the excuses after everyone but the three people go to Japan.
If you have my back, I have yours.
I’ll see you in March, be prepared…I’m out.
Andy
