Yay, haven’t heard this story in so long. Almost forgot about it. There’s so many different version of this story…but I haven’t heard of one with an ending where the swordmaster dies. :\

Yo fuck that “Step your fucking Game UP!” Yeah yeah I’m saying that and I don’t play pro. Your point. I’m going to give you a Japanese proverb or story or whatever you want to call it, to show you where I’m coming from.

(hey I’m trying to recite the story the best way I can, don’t flame just because its not completely accurate. Remember…its the message that matters not the messenger.)

One day the Emperor <— (LMAO) requested the best tea of the land delivered to him by some poor guy from the country for a celebration in 2 days. The poor tea man created his best tea to bring to the Emperor and decided to bring it to him a day early. (for whatever reason that is) On his way to the Empire the tea man accidently bumped into a Sword Master and spilt the Tea all over him. The Sword Master felt dishonored by the Tea Man. The Sword Master drew his blade to kill the Tea Man but a passing wise man softly spoke. “Wait! Master Sword Man. It is obvious that the Tea Man can not battle you right now. If you are going to take his life then give him time to prepare himself so that he can fight you in a honorable fight”. The Sword Master said, you have one day to train. We will meet again on this road to the Empire where we will battle to the death. The Tea man had no choice but to accept or risk fighting right there and then.

Shortly after the Sword Man walked off, the tea man looked back at the old man and said all you did was prolong my death. I know nothing about fighting with a sword. All I do is make tea. It is the only thing that I have mastered in my life. The old man said, you have one day to take the same spirit and concentration to practice the use of the sword. If you can put the same effort into mastering how to make the best tea in this land and channel that into how to use the sword then you will be able to give the Sword Master a honorable fight. The tea master replied: “But that doesn’t mean that I am going to be him, he is a sword Master.” The old man then said: “At this point the only truth you need to know is that we will all die one day. All that matters now is how you use what may possibly be your last day to fight for another. What is more important is that you deliver that tea to the Emperor.” The Tea man nodded and returned home.

During the remainder of the day and night the tea man trained harder than he ever did making tea when he was not the tea master. The next day came, and the tea master met the sword master on the road to the Empire. The Tea man ready with sword at his side and tea in his left hand stood in front of the sword master who drew his blade and readied himself. The tea master asked the sword master to allow him to pass for he had to deliever tea to the Emperor. The Sword master denied him and told him that his skills would prove superior because he is the master at what he does and he will not meet the Emperor ever. The tea man told him that he left him no choice. Both drew blades, the tea master gently threw the tea up in the air, they both motioned their swords. You hear the samuria Shodown sword clashing affect. There’s a pause. The Sword Master falls over and bleeds to death. The tea falls from the air and the tea Master catches it, with not a drop spilt. Donny Yen the tea master then walked over Jet li the sword masters body and brought his tea to the Emperor.

Later that day when the tea master arrived to the Empire and giving his tea to the Emperor. The Emperor enjoyed the tea but was bothered by the death of his best sword master. The Emperor had no idea who would replace him. Then the old man came from behind the Emperor and saw the Tea master. The old man then said: “Emperor, may I suggest to you the Tea master.”

yeah yeah…that’s the way I remember the story.

Happy new year!!

I wanted to post a response to wish everyone a happy new year and to let everyone know we haven’t fallen off the planet.

Things at TGA have been crazy, I’ve been doing my best to finalize our moving plans so we can be up and running at the new location before the end of January. This has been a huge task which has taken insane amounts of time, but I still have been devoting 100 percent of my best efforts to SBO.

Under the direction of the SBO staff in Japan, we spoke with Kuni a few days ago. We received the information about the west coast qualification location and the appropriate contact information.

I have contacted the location doing the qualifiers and will hopefully have some information and coordination issues settled soon.

I appreciate everyone’s patience and I promise I will make an announcement as soon as I can.

Sorry if this had been adressed already:

3s machines in japan use seimetsu sticks, but tga uses sanwa sticks. Is TGA going to stick w/ sanwa for this event? (no biggy…just need to know what stick to start practicing on)

Eh actually, I believe most arcades in Japan uses Sanwa. To quote fubarduck…

“I think probably 70% of the arcades used Sanwa while about 30% used Seimitsu.
However, Game Newton and Gamer’s Vision, which are the two most popular 3rd Strike arcades in Tokyo, both use Seimitsu.”

I’m not sure which one they’re going to use at SBO though. :\

Didn’t nebraska participate in one of the sbo’s? If so how did they do?
If they made it one year why cant they make it again?

I wanted to post an update to keep everyone up to speed.

Although plans are still in the discussion phase with the West Coast, I will say that TGA’s qualifiers will be single entry and not teams. The other details are still in the process of being finalized, but I’m hoping that by releasing the single entry format information it will help everyone plann accordingly. I am also releasing this information because I have been approached by several people who told me that they have received informaiton that our qualifiers were confirmed as team entries.

How they got this information or who they got it from is a mystery as I have not released anything about our format to anyone but the SBO staff.

So, to kill any further misinformation, I am going on record now officially as saying this single entry format is final for TGA, it is not open to debate, or under consideration. You can ignore any other infomation you may have heard or will hear eslewhere. This format has been finazlied and in place since we started the planning.

Thanks for your patience and support. I appreciate it. I hope to see everyone enter and do their best.

Hell nah, I wish!!! U might be thinking of KSK,Chikyuu,and Izu when they named their SBO team, “Team Nebraska”. People say they did it out of respect for us but I think they did it cause they beasted in Ne and placed 1st 2nd and 3rd when they came here. Izu took 1st,Chikyuu 2nd,and KSK 3rd. Izu( pink makoto) won SBO right after the Nebraska tourney that year. But I think they named themselves that after the year Izu won SBO and they all lost to a Chun li player.:sad: :sad:

I wanted them to get further.

on a serious note, i doubt the situation would come to the point where there’d be duplicate characters on the top 3. the only person limited to 1 character is probably pyro, but the only other person to use yun to that extent is me, but he’d probably place over me…so i don’t see why that issue is a dominant reason for someone to not attend.

Yes, if the ticket is not 100% guaranteed (as it would be in team format) then I will just qualify in FFA.
