Look it’s pretty simple. They created an event as a draw.

This year it was Justin vs Daigo, last year it was Yipes vs Justin, the year before it was the Marvel Gods 3 Way Dance. The draw brings in an excess of people who wouldn’t normally show up. As an example my first SB was SBII. I was drawn in for a 6+ hour drive from just outside Toronto Canada because I wanted to see the 3 way marvel match.

The tournament didn’t draw me there, the event did.

The people who put the money in get to receive the event essentially as a service for money paid. It’s no different than anything else you’d pay a ticket to see whether sporting event or entertainment.

If you pay for it, you get to see it. If you didn’t, then you don’t.

As the stream director, I’m going to make my one post on this. Although it has been explained numerous times on this very thread, I highly doubt that those people who pop their heads in just to complain and leave didn’t bother going back and reading anything anyway, so here it is:

Let’s get that clear. Maybe in FPS world every little scrim is streamed? I don’t know. Maybe you’re new to the community and don’t realize that tournament streaming has only become a regular phenonemon in the last year, and so you shouldn’t really expect full capacity from any event outside of evo.

At SB, we like to give our attendees a little something extra. Why? I think it’s obvious, they took the time to get Columbus, OH - a nice place but this is obviously not Vegas. They willingly put up the money for the venue fee, participate, help out, and make this a great event. So they are treated to awesome live events like Yipes Justin Sanford, and Daigo Justin.

This is a GIFT for them. It has been that way from the start. People coming to the event is what enables us to get Daigo here in the first place. What is so hard to understand about that?

Btw, idea of a paid stream? Horrible idea. There is effectively no simple, quick method for this. Sorry, we major, but we aint that major.

But seriously, we are fucking breaking our backs to stream you ANYTHING at all. It utterly disgusts me to see this outcry when we’re essentially going to be streaming the WHOLE TOURNAMENT. I was so hype to put on this stream. Thanks for spoiling that, fuckfaces. Hopefully we get a bit of thanks for all the shit we’re already doing from the gracious people that can’t make it out to an event and expect EVERYTHING FROM THE LIVE EVENT THAT THEY HAVE NO PART IN, WHATSOEVER! I guess you probably want MoMos bulgokki delivered to you in your boxers so you can drip pork sauce over your keyboards as you watch too?

Wow, your logic is a bit out the window here. They aren’t saying you can’t watch the event ever. They are just saying that you will have to wait for the Season’s Beatings 4 DVD. It’s no different than a movie coming out in theaters and not being able to afford the movie or you don’t have time to go to the movies and see it. Then it’s no longer in theaters. What do you do then hmmmmm? You wait for the DVD release of the movie and then watch it later on. You had a chance to watch it earlier in the theaters but you chose not too and the theater does not run on your schedule it runs on it’s own schedule. So if you can’t make it during it’s time then you don’t see it. Where as when you wait for the DVD release you are able to watch rent it, buy it, etc. at your own leisure and watch it when you feel. It’s the same with this whole thing. Plus let’s not forget you actually pay for renting a movie. When you watch football you actually pay for it by watching the commericals and advertisement that the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc. get money so you in turn supporting them by watching. When you watch this stream you aren’t supporting them and it actually takes away from their resources, time, etc. putting the stream together for you guys for free. How unthankful, ungrateful can any of you get out of a free service?

The only halfway decent idea that got thrown out there was the Pay-Per-View stream, but that’s just not feasible. All you other people getting shit for free, but complaining that you’re not getting enough for free…
